I could do my hair, makeup, and whatever and still not get a compliment from my last bf. But one day, when I walked into the livingroom after having thrown on a zip-up hoodie and jeans, he said,"You look nice."??? I would just like to know why I'd get a compliment then and not before...not that I'm complaining, just confused a bit, haha. Ever happened to you?

Maybe he just doesn't go for that whole made up look. My boyfriend has said that I look nice on days when I've really put no effort into my appearance at all... perhaps the casual look just suits you?

It's always a little weird when they do that but the bright side is they still think we're cute when we're not dolled up.... Always a good sign!

Sho nuff! My last bf never told me I looked nice unless I asked him. But my current boyfriend (and maybe future husband) pulls this on me all the time. I never know how to respond. I could walk in all dolled up or just in jeans and a t-shirt or in one of his shirts and nothing else and every now and then he'll look at me and say "you look nice." It sill makes me blush. It's pretty cool.

Never much happened to me, but when I put on makeup, it is a *super* special occasion.

My husby does the same thing all the time.
I can do my hair, put makeup on, wear a pretty dress... and he doesn't bat an eyelid.
But if I have messy hair and wear one of his old shirts, he's all "OMG! You're gorgeous!"
I guess some men just prefer the natural look.

My BF, he loves it when I get all dolled up. Full make-up, perfect hair, that amazing outfit. He always makes sure that he tells me how beautiful I am...
The most casual he's ever seen me, is tank top, jeans, eye-linner, and perfect hair... I don't ever leave the house looking... frumpy. His big thing right now, is to catch me off guard, before I have time to get ready... he's failing. *giggles*

Personally, I don't think you should analyze it too much. I mean, you look nice, you look nice. You have your reassurance. I personally hold back on complimenting my girl too much especially on her average days, and when she is really dressed up, or if I catch her in an off moment, ha.
How long have you known this guy? (Out of curiosity)

I think its something along the lines of what i personally think...
Women don't need makeup to be pretty, its just something people though of a long time ago to hide the dirt and such they had because they didn't bathe regularly :D

i've done that before, sorta. i tried very hard to look nice, putting on a lot of make up, but still not over doing it, but it did nothing. all it really did was make me look worse. i even tried cleaning my face more, and all it did was make my acne come out more. i noticed that the harder i tried to look nice, the worse off i was. once i gave up was when i started looking better.
only once do i remember all my make up and hair stuff working with me and letting me look nice. that was when i went to my senior prom. i had tried the same hairdo several times before, and it had never worked until that night. funny...

my boyfriend likes the natural look, i dont think hes ever actually just said "you look nice" i mean i take it as a compliment when he says "damn you look sexy" but we know whats on his mind... my ex never complimented me like that he was too into himself to have the thought even cross his mind =/
just depends on the guy really

No, I have to wear makeup and get my hair did.
My boyfriends are ncie guys, and they say I look pretty with or without makeup, but they never compliment me without it.
Once, I woke up and answered the door for my boyfriend; he asked if I was sick. "Oh, you look terrible. Are you ill?"

Well, I've known the guy for about 11 years. He's now my ex bf. but I was just thinking about how he never complimented me when I looked, in my opinion, nice. I was just curious.

My boyfriend and many other guys I know prefer women with out make up and just dress casual. I've gotten more complements like that from just wearing my normal every day clothing.. I save make up and fancy clothing for special occasions. And even then I wear it just to make myself look nice lol.
Make up should only be worn if it really is needed. And some people do need it >.>

then he tells me, "It takes a really beautiful girl to roll out of bed and look like a goddess!"
it makes me happy, especially since i've never really thought i was all that pretty =/

I don't see why you want to impress anyone with makeup anyways? You're going to get married anyways and that person has to see your un-covered face sooner or later. Surely if they like your natural look that's a good thing. Being all fake (Not poser fake...)and with make-up on just to impress them doesn't cut it for me. I like to play make-up but only in my mother's bathroom and it's her make-up and nobody is there but me and my mom. -cough- But I dislike make-up all in all. xD I rather have someone see my natural beauty instead of a guise. :)

Wow, well, maybe he doesn't like the make up look then??? Or really dolled up look??? I've never got any compliments for when I've dressed up casually. Only when I really doll up my appearance. But I HATE doing that anyways. But I never really do anything new with my appearance o.O

I agree that most girls look good when they don't spend time with all that make-up and a lot of fancy clothes. It gives an impression of self confidence that guys, or at least I, find alluring and even sexy. Besides its us guys that usually need the polish to look half decent.

It's usually when I'm having one of my 'Don't look at me, I feel and look atrocious' days that I get the most attention from guys..
