I love to get my period. I know, its a hassle to deal with the tampons and the cramps and the stomach upset every 32 days but its worth it, makes me feel like a woman. I only get it heavy for about two days and then two more days of light flow and then it's finished. I'm not on birth control. I tried the pill when I was 18 or so and I couldn't keep remembering it, and I have not been on birth control since. I just use contraceptives for "the moment".. without getting too graphic. I don't want to mess with my fertility. I'm good at taking care of myself. I am planning for my second child around the fall and I can't wait :D

On a related note I really hate when guys get all freaked out about a girl's period, or they treat it like this disgusting thing, for instance if you get your period during sex or after or around the time, and they act all weird.. it happened to me with my first boyfriend.. thats one reason he became an ex. I just hate it when people treat the period like its a shameful thing cause it's not!

Haha, mine was actually pretty hilarious. I hadn't been 9 that long ( my birthday is in August and I started in October ) and it was on halloween while I was watching Nightmare on Elm Street. The timing seemed hilariously appropriate, I will never forget that. :P

I found out when I was thirteen at a summer outing at a lake, I was wearing white shorts and my father noticed it before anyone else. My mother and older cousin dragged me out of the lake and took me to the bathroom to explain to me what happened. I cried for twenty minutes before I went back out to try and enjoy the rest of my day. Back then my period was light and irregular. Now it is extremely heavy and on time. I sometimes can handle it but other times I am dying in pain. I get pain in my sides, and lower back, and sometimes the bottom of my butt, which is the worst pain I have ever experienced.

First time was when I was winter of 7th grade. We were at a friend's house easting hot pot and my stomach started hurting. I went to the the bathroom and life as a female went downhill from there lol
So, not embarrassing. It's been painful and irregular, but never embarrassing. :/

I was lucky and got it at home, no trauma at all. BUT IT COMES AT THE WORST TIMES EVER for me and I tend to get cramps as well ><. AND I CRAVE CHOCOLATE. BADLY. WHEN THERE IS NO CHOCOLATE IN THE HOUSE.

Before The Stars Sleep 02-11-2010 05:14 AM

I was in the fifth grade when I had my first period. I did not know what was causing my stomach to cramp up until I went to try on a pair of powder blue jogging pants. Needless to say I had to buy it in the end. >.<

Sundey 02-11-2010 07:08 AM

I first started when I was 12, and I was home alone, but I knew what was going on, and what to do, and I was super excited I felt like I had become a woman. But the second time of having my period, I didn't know what to expect, and when. I was at school, we had gym class, it was a day without changing, and I felt sweaty, so I didn't think it was a big deal. But the WHOLE day I was walking around with a big blood spot on my butt :P And no one decided to let me know. They were light colored jeans as well. And I heard snickers all day, but I didn't put two and two together. It wasn't till I got home that I found out :(

My mom took me to the doctors and they said it was period pains and because of how extreme they were they put me on the pill (if you don't know, it apparently helps with the pain.... Yeah right) anyway I got my period about a year after. Something didn't feel right and I got a stomach ache so I went to the toilet and saw lots (and I mean lots) of blood and clots. I freaked out because no one tells you there can be clots. I ran to my mom and told her that I had my period and we didn't really talk about it because we're not close like that but she bought me a few kinds of pads and such to let me see what the best was for me and that was that. Glad I wasn't at school because it was a looooot of blood lol. My periods are never regular and a few times I've thought I was pregnant (I'm 24 now btw lol) because I have gone without a period for 1-3 months. Well because they were so unregular and the pain was still extreme I was put on many different types of the pill and at one time had the injection. But that didn't work out so well, see it's different for everyone, which you all know. But it caused me to bleed everyday for the duration of the course, I think one injection last 8 weeks? I can't remember lol. Needless to say it was a pain in the butt to have an 8 week long period lol. My body is so lame lol :( well now years on I still have the pain but the last 4-5 months it's been so heavy that I go through so many pads and what not in a day (about 30) so I was put on MORE pills to adjust the flow (for lack of better words lol) and help with the pain. I might just pull out my womb! But hey look at this, it was a question of you FIRST and here I am writing an essay about my overall periods lol. sorry

Thank god I'm a guy XD sorry

lastemoon 02-11-2010 06:11 PM

I agree with you, though I must state that periods are pretty nasty. One can understand why some men think it's disgusting, and secondly: they're afraid of it, and don't want to admit how happy they are that they don't have them.

However: being that it is something natural that women must go through, men also must respect it. If your boyfriend dumped you for having a period, well tuff shit to him since he's going to have to deal with it if he ever wishes to have women in his life, and if you dumped him: more power to you, he deserved it.

This reply is very long in coming, I know, but I had to say something on the topic. :)

REEALLLLLYYYY? Bahahahahahahahaha! I knew there was an explanation for that one week a month that all guys go berserk, lol. :XD

Mischa_BlackCherry 02-19-2010 12:46 AM

I started mine when I was thirteen (I think) I was at home about to take a shower and I saw blood on my panties and since it was explained to me before, there was no drama, but for the first few ones I'd get really weak and tired so I'd be in bed before eight o clock.

Gabriel 02-19-2010 01:08 AM

I have my period eleven times a day.

I start off with five jumbo deep-fried gulf shrimp served on a disk of salted butter. With fifteen potato bacon bombs with a big bowel of pork cracklin's with cheese and butter dippin' sauce.

Then I go for a bacon and cheese cream soup, with a tampon spoon. And five-head of iceberg-lettuce he-man salad served in a punch bowel with eighteen pounds of ranch dressing, pork stuffed deep fried croutons and what the hell? A couple of corndogs.

BlizzardPixie 02-19-2010 06:58 PM

I didn't start till 14 and I didn't eat meat(but now I do) and I hated cow milk! Anyways I started during PE at school(fortunately our PE clothes were black). And thats about it I almost always started in the morning or at night from then on.

foreverfallingxx 02-19-2010 07:33 PM

I must have been around 10 or 11, because i know i was really young. I'm the youngest of 5, so i knew all about it before it happened. i do remember that i didn't tell my mom for a few months. i guess was just too embarrassed, i just kept swiping and hiding pads from my mom and sisters for when i needed them.

Kikite 02-19-2010 08:52 PM

My first period was frightening for me.

I first of all was on a school trip. I kept feeling like I had to go to the bathroom, but I had to wait to go. I kept passing gas and I kept getting crampy. I went to the portapotty (They were the only things available) and saw something on my panties, I thought I might have pooped my pants without knowing. (Portapotties are dark in them, so it is hard to see.) I just cleaned up the mess and waited to get home. Once I got to a bathroom at my aunt's house (Where I got dropped off from school) I looked and saw it was blood. I ended up grabbing one of the pads she instructed me to take if my period ever started (My mom never gave me the talk since she left when I was 8 so my aunt and Grandma always told me what to do.) I ended up calling my aunt at work and she talked to me about it.

Ya... That was my first period... x_x;;;

Cyove 02-20-2010 02:04 AM

I got my first period when I was 10 years old and it had always been extremely fucked up. I got on the depot shot a few years ago and now I don't get my period at all anymore, which is good.

CeiJae 02-20-2010 03:05 AM

I got my first period on New Years 2002, I was 10. Lol. It was pretty bad. I was staying with my step-sister and her mother for New Years... They'd let me have a bit to drink so I wasn't thinking the clearest. Went to the bathroom and suddenly realised there was blood.. I tried using a tampon, didn't work so tried another one, didn't work either... Gave up and put toilet paper in my underwear.

Then went to find my step-sister and whined to her "MAAAANDEEEEEE I'M DYYIIINGG". She found me a pad, so that was all good.. Until later when we had to take HER to Accidents and Emergencies ward of the hospital for getting a hair wrapped around her eyeball, not related but it made the night more memorable.

omg!! you're so funny x) I agree with you all the way. I totally dumped him and then he went around telling people that I got my period during "it"... so immature and at the time we were 19/18 (he was the younger one). Everyone was like, man what is wrong with you, girls get their period just deal with it. It is not like she got her period on purpose during that time." and stuff like that. So I didn't get embarrassed, since its a natural thing, and he was being the fool so he should have gotten embarrassed =3

Some men probably are afraid of it and glad they don't have it, but you're right they must respect it. If they want a woman and a good relationship with one, they must! The very things that are part of a woman's sexuality, like periods, pregnancy, childbirth and nursing.. some men (and women too) act like are they most grossest things. What do they think sex is for, not just their pleasure? Nature makes us wanna do it for a reason, so even if they think its gross, they should definitely respect it and understand.

While some men may be really glad they don't have to get a period or give birth, as a woman I have to say I am glad I don't have to deal with nocturnal emissions, involuntary "baseball bat sticking out" in public, or having a certain pair of very fragile and sensitive parts that have to be guarded greatly and could easily get injured. I respect the male body, and female body, though I'm glad to be female. =3

I hope I didn't offend anybody! :feesh:

Starpana 02-20-2010 05:16 AM

i got mine when i was 9 in the middle of school it sucked plus later i got really bad cramps, but right now i won't be having it for a couple months

Seer of the Past 02-20-2010 03:00 PM

Mine wasn't that bad but I felt so weird going to school because I had gym that day and I felt so awkward.

nightlydeity 02-20-2010 11:12 PM

I am 23...and mine are just aweful. I am like some countries that have dry seasons and wet season. I didnt get mine until I was 17, but I wish I never did. I am waiting for menopause.

Flowery Pit 02-20-2010 11:37 PM

It started in 6th grade where I'm like either 11 or 12. But it started on the first day of school, just as I was about to be driven to school. So it was like a 5 second instruction lesson for me, and it felt really awkward wearing a pad for the first time.

luckinspades 02-21-2010 01:27 AM

I think there's a terrible taboo with women's bodily functions. There is an incorrect mindset regarding such things.

Nothing good comes from shaming a person for what the body naturally does, whether its a woman's period or any function of either gender.

My grandmother once told me that when she first started menstruating, she was terribly afraid. Why? There was no sex ed when she was growing up, so she thought she was seriously injured somehow. Its at least a small improvement that there is such "mandatory" education now, but just because the science is explained doesn't correct a long-standing mindset that menstruation is filthy and embarassing.
