Mine first started when I was 11 years old.
I was at home, sitting down on my chair while doing my homework and I felt something wet in my underwear.
The first thought that came into my head was, "Am I peeing my pants?"
I quickly ran to the restroom and found out that my period had started. I am so grateful that it didn't start out in public. :)

I got mine while i was at church...i don't remeber why i was there, it was in the evening. I knew what had happened and that i was getting my period. I went outside the restroom to tell my mom i tried to do this quietly, but she didn't hear what i said and asked something along the lines of "What?" pretty loud...everybody looked at me i just whispered it to her again and luckily this time she heard what i said. I don't blame her but it was kinda embarassing!

I don't think 11 is early at all. And the stake thing? I don't think it has much to do with an early period, cause I'm a vegetarian, and I got mine at 11 also. I think periods just get earlier and earlier each generation (for whatever reason).

But, yeah, I was so embarrassed... I thought that everyone knew, and I constantly worried on the first day that I wore a pad because I thought it would bleed through my pants or something and people would see.
The first time I got my period, though, I didn't have any cramps. But all of my periods after that, I get horrible cramps on the first day. The cramps are so bad that I usually end up throwing up, and having to stay home and cry all day (though I think the crying part is me just being a baby... though it does hurt a lot). I hate periods D:<

Mine WOULD have been fine.
I actually started it when I was 11 at a conference with my mother, but I hid it with toilet paper the entire time.
Then one morning I had a massive leak so I had to tell my mother, but I told her I'd just started it.

...

She screamed so loud the neighbors came over to make sure everything was alright.

And how did she reply?

"EVERYTHING'S WONDERFUL! MY DAUGHTER IS NOW A WOMAN!"
...so basically? My entire neighborhood new.
Gee, thanks, mom.

lol

people say that if you get a period and you are wearing jeans, the blood doesn't leak through the jeans! god, thank you for inventing jeans.

I got mine when I was about... 12? I think so.. Anywho, I had a little that morning (it was really light, I thought I cut myself or something) so I didn't worry about it or say anything. At that time I was at my moms house and we had planned to meet my dad soon so we headed off. I wore dark jeans so I didn't see any stains. But that night I slept in my dads room (he and his wife slept on the blow-up bed in the living room) and when I woke up their sheets were covered in blood! I was scared he would get mad and I stammered a lot when I told him to go into the bedroom. He didn't get mad.. maybe a bit grossed out, but not mad. To my utter humiliation, though, his wife had to clean them. :headdesk: I kept saying how sorry I was, but she just said it was OK. Then my dad called my mom and she talked about how big this moment was for me and how I should have stayed with her and all I could think of was, "Big..? Everyone does this.. I'm bleeding, whoop-de-do."

Mine came the day we were supposed to sing at the nursing home (christmas carols) and then go to an indoor water park. I was... 11...

I didn't mind at the time, I didn't want to go swimming. But then I got bored. And uncomfortable.

Rosesque 12-10-2009 08:16 AM

I first got mine when I was 13, and I was alone at my great grandmother's dog sitting. I freaked out mainly because I didn't have anything to stop/catch it, so I called my mom... and she laughed at me... :sarcasm:

Ivvy 12-10-2009 08:25 AM

My first period was back in 06 and i'm 16 now, man was it so embarrassing. funny thing was I went through 2 periods before I slipped up. LOL

I nearly cried, when my parents found out, but now I'm all cool with it and I now talk about to any one who wants to know about it. :D

Aoi 12-10-2009 02:54 PM

I started my period when I was 9. (Yeah, really, really early. My younger sister started her's when she was like 8 1/2. >.<') And I'm 14 now.

I woke up one day, about to go pee and brush my teeth, then I felt something weird in my pants. I looked and there was blood there. Nothing was hurt, but I called my mom to the bathroom because the bleeding wouldn't stop! Then she started laughing at me and tells me how to put on a pad, etc. Next thing I know, she calls all of my relatives in Vietnam and her friends telling that her oldest daughter has her period. Oh, God.

At first, I kind of knew it was coming since my mom kept talking to me about it. I was kind of scared since all of that unnecessary blood was on my underpants! So I wore a pad to school for the rest of the day. AND I WILL ALWAYS WEAR PADS. I was afraid since I thought I was the only one with a period so early, but by reading some of these posts, I don't think I'm alone anymore! xD

What was weird was that, my period wasn't regular when I was younger. Like, it would start on a day, end in a few days, but it wouldn't come back until a few months later. Now, my period is regular. I start every beginning of a month.

I am thankful for my period in a way, because I got to skip swimming in P.E. :)

I had mine at 12. I was at my mom's friends house pet sitting a dog. It hurt a lot as it was, but I think the pain was intensified as to the fact I had like a 300lb dog laying on top of me whimpering trying to see if i was alright.
Other than that tho it was fine.

SuperPotpurri 12-11-2009 02:46 AM

I got my first period the day before 5th grade DDD:
I remember we all had to stand around in the gym,
and they had all of us stand it a large cirlce as every person introduced themselves.
I wanted to leave, but I thought it would be rude, so I kept standing ;o;
I went to the nurse like the second it was done (or earlier because some other teachers noticed?? ) and she said "You're bleeding D8"
and I'm thinking NO DUH, I just spent the last half hour standing around with a bloody tush D:

JulieZombie 12-11-2009 06:20 AM

I started my when I was 11, the day of my great grandma's funeral it was not fun it was really really scary because my mom hadn't given me the sex talk and I went to private school so they didn't have sex ed. It was so scary!!!!

madamelsie 12-11-2009 08:53 PM

I started mine when I was about 12 or 13. compared to all my friends at the time, I was a late bloomer, and I think my mom was actually a little worried about it. Anyway, it was a little embarrassing because before I realized I'd started, my mom and brothers were saying that I was acting like a total bitch and then my mom turns to me and says, "my gosh, you'd think you'd have started your period or something. you're so grumpy." I went to the bathroom about 5 mins later and then had to come out, a little shamefaced and tell my mom she was right, I'd started. I was glad it happened at home. No idea how I would have reacted if it was out in public. Probably would have been mortified.

CraftyLittleSpork 12-11-2009 08:57 PM

I was 13 when I had my first one. I was a freshman. I don't really remember anything about it though. So i guess thats a good thing.

I didn't get regular periods until I was like 14 though. O________o don't know why.

Majinkoz 12-11-2009 09:02 PM

Yeah I think I started at 12...personally I think that's the average age. My sister just started and she's 12 and she'll be 13 in a few weeks. She does drink milk etc but it's all organic.

Vivian 12-11-2009 09:07 PM

I think I got mine when I was 12, but I've always been a light bleeder, so to speak.
I've never bled through before, lucky me. ^^;

Pkero 12-12-2009 12:00 AM

The problem with periods (besides the obvious) is that there's no real male alternative. We need something like this. I think my next thread will be:

"WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU TOOK A REALLY SATISFYING DUMP?" :3

BinkaKitty 12-12-2009 01:06 AM

i once had an awkward period moment. i was supposed to be baptized at my church, along with my mom, but i couldn't cuz of my period. i'm actually glad it came then cuz it was too cold to go into water. so, instead, i had my turn that summer with my dad.

graphene 12-12-2009 01:14 AM

I've got mine already. It wasn't really embarrassing since I was just at home. Kind of sucked though since it was the 4th of July... I got it when I was 10. :p

P a p i l l o n 12-12-2009 11:04 PM

Yes.
I got mine 11 days after my 11th birthday.
Lol
I was at home and I went to the bathroom and there was blood.
I didn't freak out but I did ask alot of questions.
x'D

RobinGoodfellow 12-12-2009 11:15 PM

it wasn't till I was 13 I got mine. It wasn't very much and I didn't notice till I went to the bathroom and thought I had soiled myself. I didn't tell anyone because i was so embarrassed, and it wasn't until that night when my mom did laundry that she found out and told me. (feel free to laugh at me now)

then a few months ago, I had one that lasted for 15 days. Not pleasent. Thankfully though, no cramps.
