I got my first period when i was thirteen.
The odd thing about it was that it happened at a sleep-away camp up in the mountains, six hours away form home.
I almost freaked out. But my mom was very informative with be because she also got hers at an early-ish age. In other words, I know what to do and she had also sent with me a couple pads and tampons.
I was still a little shaky when I told my consoler though.
And what made it even more awkward was that I have really heavy flow; Seven tampons in four hours o.O
Then something happened to my counselor's tampons and I had to steal from a friend >3>

I got my period...this or last year.
It was on a weekend and I was at home...without my mommy. But she already had bought me some pads and I knew what to do...school taught me.
I told my sister first. It was kinda freaky cuz she was on hers too....
So, nothing traumatizing. whew. And they only last 3-5 days. i've never had any cramps thankfully.

My friend got hers at the end of fifth grade. During field day.

I don't remember when I got it, it's been a while. I'd say 6th grade? but it was during my brother's birthday party sleepover and I started VOMITING like none other. My mom figured out what was happening and moved the mini-tv into my room and let me watch whatever I wanted.
I still get really sick from my period. I don't get overly emotional like the stereotypical chick PMS. I just eat weird things and then get sick. :<

Well I was in the 6th grade. I was waiting for the bus when I got what I thought was Diahrea pains. So I rush to the bathroom and apologize to my mom about being late for school and her having to drive me incase I miss the bus. Two minutes later I'm yelling "MOOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!!" Two minutes after that I'm changing my pad again because it was a big glop of jelly like substance. Meanwhile my mom was on the phone calling my grandparents, my aunt and uncles, and all of her friends to let them know I had my first period. She then wrote me a note to tell my teacher why exactly I was late that morning. The teacher congratulated me and said why in front of the whol class. I slunk to my chair.

It was a few years ago, and I was twelve. I was at my cousins' house (they're both boys) so it was really embarassing. We were outside, playing tag. It was a nice Spring day, the mud slowly drying on the grass and the sun peeking out from the clouds. Basically, I snuck into a bush so I wouldn't be tagged, then noticed that I had a red spot on my jeans. I just ran out, made myself slip and fall on my butt so I smeared mud all over my jeans to cover it up, and went inside to change and clean up. D;

On a side note I was there when my cousin laura got her first period. I'm from Jersey born and raised. She lived in Alabama. We were visiting for the first time. We walked to one of her friends house's. They weren't there but the house was open. Laura had to pee and I was waiting in the hall. Next thing I know she's screaming. And I'm just a little kid. So she tells me to walk back and tell my grandfather she needed a tampon, she had gotten her period. I panicked. I was like 6, I didn't know what it was. So I was running down the street with no shoes on. I scrape my toe and jam it on the asfault. Got there where they poured straight up vodka on my cut before putting a bandaid on it. And then I told them and they all laughed and went about it....

Frankly, I'm thankful nobody freaked out. Because who needs that? :)
I was 11 when I got mine. I found out that I got my period the same way.

my first period was the summer before 6th grade.

I felt like I had to go to the bathroom and when I did, there was blood in my underwear (I ran light on my first period so it only got into my underwear) it was funny though because I thought something was totally wrong (I knew about periods, I just didn't think that first, I was 10 what do you want XD ) and was yelling for my mom. she comes running in there like what, what. and I point to my underwear and she laughs and tells me I just got my first period. XD

Dont you hate it when your on your period and you have this intense pain course through your body and te only way to subdue the pain is to curl up in a ball. and well you are in that position you fall asleep and when you wake up its been two hours. After that wonderful break from the pain you realize that you didnt get anything down that you wanted to and know your behind in whatever your working on. -_- :headdesk:

No it's never that bad for me. The worst that happens to me is cramps and eating something usually eases it.
and I can't fall asleep in the daytime, I just can't.

That's horrible. My cousin has such terrible periods that the doctors gave her medicine to completely stop them until she grows out of puberty.

The worst that I get is back pain, cramps, and fatigue. I usually can't eat much the first day of my period either...I wouldn't throw up if I did but everything looks unappetizing and the thought of food makes my stomach roil.

I'm sorry for your pain. Girls do get the crappy end of the stick in a lot, no?

My periods are never really bad (aside from bleeding heavily). I do break out during my periods and bloat if I don't hydrate myself, but I rarely get cramps and I never have PMS.

I'm SO BAD D;
I bleed like a whole lot every months and it usually lasts for seven days.
My cramps aren't always the same kind of severity. But last month, I was about to throw up and cry at the same time... the cramps were so bad.

I hope it's not that bad this month D:

I rarely bleed too heavily, and if I do it's for no more than two days usually one. I can switched from pads to pantie liners usually about the third/fourth day.

Yeah usually I know when my Full Moon as I like to call it is on it's way because I will feel bloaty or crampy. One time in particular years ago I had lunch at Denny's with my dad, we used to have lunch once a week. My appetite was lower than usual and that is something I tend to get sometimes, either a decrease or increase in appetite. So I thought I must have started and sure enough I had.
