Oh no no, I didn't check until I was home. I don't use public restrooms hardly and when I do it's only to do number one when I DON'T have a full moon in my sky. I can't stand public restrooms.

I was 13 1/2, on 5/11/07 (I remember dates for this sort of thing).

I woke up not wearing any underwear and sat on my white blanket to put some socks on. When I got up I noticed a brown spot where I sat. I sat in another area on my blanket to find another spot. I slipped on some underwear, and there was yet another brown spot. I was all "woah" and took a look at myself in the mirror to find more brown all on the inside of my legs.

I took a lucky guess, and told my dad I'd started my period and got a pad. It was a thin one, and I wasn't sure how much blood there was going to be, so I was kind of surprised when I went through one or two. But nearly three years later, I've got the gist of it.

I was lucky to have been at home when I got my first full moon. I was working on a story(I have always loved writing) in my room and I had to go number two. There was brown on my pantie liner and red on the toliet paper when I wiped my rear. I summoned my mom who got all excited when she told me what it was and promptly called my grandmother and my aunt although I tried to stop her. Geeze mom ><

I was 12 when I first got mine. I was on a week long camping trip with my classmates when it started, so yeah, it was embarrassing. I had to go home on the second day because nobody had any tampons.

Mine started a little different to most girls... I had a few painful situations where I couldn't (let's just say) pee, and they had to (let's say) help at the hospital, and when a doctor looked down there he noticed it was all swollen, it turns out the skin that's meant to break naturally for girls when they start their period was too thick, and I had to have an operation to have it cut, (This happened when I was 12 years old, so I'm unsure how long it was flowing with no exit) needless to say it wasn't a fantastic time, and to make matters worse, they discovered I have a biforcated (heart shaped) uterus (more blood to flow) so at the moment they have me on the pill (skipping the sugar pills) so I don't ever have a period, it doesn't always work, occasionally I'll have one but three a year is better than when the pain was so bad, and I was actually fainting every month... so, I think I'm forgiven when I say guys have it easy

That's harsh, my aunt has always lived with female problems of that kind as well. She once had an operation years ago because her period was going the other way and poisoning her. Her conception of my cousin was a miracle, she was not believed to be able to conceive and of course that was not a breeze. She required a C-section for some kind of placenta problem.

But I believe she told me that her female problems stemmed from once having consequential sex as a young woman.

I thought it was normal to start at 11/12....
Anyways, I just happened to go to the bathroom one morning, and there were blood spots on my undies. Nothing embarrassing or phenomenal.

I really don't see why a lot of the girls at my school, particularly my friends, make such a big deal out of it.
My friends will always get out of something or make up excuses because they're on their period. Or, they just never do anything.
But I still do the things I love to do. I still play DDR, dance, run, and all that good stuff.

What irritates me the most is when my friends snap at me for something and then say, "Argh, I'm just PMS'ing."
Like, I'm supposed to just ignore their hurtful comment because they're bleeding from their vagina. -.-
It really pisses me off. If I'm angry at someone, it's because I'm legitimately angry at someone. And I don't use "I'm PMS'ing" as an excuse for chewing someone out.
What brats.....

I started mine when I was almost 11, and my god did it hurt. I couldn't go to school and I was mostly stuck in bed sobbing because I was much too sick and in pain to even get up. They even lasted for as long as two weeks.

My school life was hell. >_>

Are you serious? You realize that all women react differently on their periods, right? BUT OH WAIT. For you, it's really nothing more than some blood leaking from your vagina - so it must be that way for everyone else, right? >_> Jeez...

I’m lucky I’ve never had any problems with my period. Last time I had some cramps but they lasted less then an hour. I never get cramps though and m period normally lasts about five days and gets worst on the second day/night.

Same my period has been and never is a problem for me. It's just annoying. ><

The first time I ever had mine was when I was eleven. I was at a friend's birthday party in a bounce house wearing a lightly colored skirt when one of the guys asked me if I had somehow managed to cut myself on the inflatable because I was bleeding. That was slightly awkward.

Another fun time I had with periods was just recently when I was working with the group of Jr. High girls that I mentor. We were having our group time together when all of a sudden one of the girls who had been complaining of cramps that night stood up and said she felt like she was going to throw up. We didn't manage to get to the bathroom in time for round one of the vomit so it ended up all over the concrete, but we did manage to get to a stall by round two. While I was asking her about how long she had been feeling sick, she just told me that she started feeling it that day and then eventually I was able to work it out that she had been going through her first period so I got to give her a quick version of "the talk" as I held back her hair while she vomited. Yeah... that was fun.

I am feeling like a freakaziod I seem to be the only one here who got her first period at 13 ><

I don't have mine any more. I had too many health problems and now don't have one. Which is sad because I wanted to have kids and I was told I can't have kids.

I got mine in the 5th grade ): It was painful and what not but I got on birth control (to regulate flow) and it's so great now x3

No, it's the way they carry on with it that bothers me, really.
They'll use their period/PMS'ing as an excuse all day, every day, for weeks, even when they're not on their period.

One of my friends loves to pull this particular trick--She'll snap at me, blame it on PMS'ing, then two weeks later, do the exact same thing. And she'll keep doing this. And no, she won't be on her period when she does this most of the time.
But what really gets me is that they expect everyone to be sorry for them during their time-of-the-month.

All women, excluding those on birth control/pregnant/menopausal, etc., etc., etc., go through this. I don't get off all scott-free, either. I have had cramps so bad that I literally could not breath from the pain.
I understand that women have different reactions and problems, but all women have gone through this, and they think they should deserve special treatment because of their pain.

Oh well, call me unsympathetic or misunderstanding, but that's how I feel about it.
