so this thread i want people to discus their dreams of what is hopefully to come in their life.
some friends and i are working towards a massive goal. we want to buy an island.
sounds crazy but imagine how awesome it would be! your own chunk of land in the middle of the sea, oh how i miss the sea. it would be just like kingdom hearts lol without the monsters. we all have plans to earn the multiple million dollars t get what we want.
im actually surprised at the inexpensivness of islands. in the low millions is soooo totally doable! ^^ im excited for the future!
what about you?

Haha, that's kind of a cool goal to have. I imagine not too many people ever think about owning an island.
Well, my plans mostly revolve around my writing. I'd really like to have one of my scripts turned into a comic book or cartoon. Of course, since I know that industry is always hit or miss, I think being a creative writing teacher would be pretty fun.

I like both ideas. Me and my friends talked about getting an island but we want to start a huge community house together with lots of land so we can be mostly self sustaining. kinda like the amish but without the religious restrictions. theres sooooooo much i wanna do with my life. like start my business and write books and sing back-up in my friends' band and start a family with my incredible Fiance`and travel the world and the list goes on...
so... yeah... what do ya think?

I avoid looking to far into the future. The most I ever look is the next year or so... Any more and I tend to loose focus on my life as it is now, and I become afraid, that I wont like what happens to my future....

Honestly, in the past 5 years I've become increasingly unsure about what I want to do. I used to be so sure too lol. I really have no idea at this point, which probably isn't good for me.
There are just so many things I could be, I really don't want to close my options off...but if you are looking for a story one of my many possibilities is becoming a teacher in Japan. I know its probably out there, but I love the country and I heard that the schools there are really looking for native English speakers to teach their children...and I think that'd be a cool job. Although, I'd have to learn some more Japanese first.

hmm to be honest i dont think i've ever really set any goals for myself.
i kinda just go with the flow which is probably becoming increasingly dumb of me since im in grade 11 and i dont have much of an idea about what kind of career im going to pursue. =/
the island idea is so cool, i would have never considered something like that for myself though but good luck ^^

My plans are to sit around on December 12, 2012 saying "Sweet. Paranoia and fear due to mass media caused classes to be canceled~" xD I really do thing -and hope- that college classes in 2012 are going to be canceled because of this.
But after wards, I plan to go to college for 8 years, earning my PhD. Then going to work at a university or private high school. Retire at a decent age and become a freelance seamstress. C:

I hope to be strong(physically and emotionally), independant, doing something I love for a profession. I'm thinking of animal handling or tattooing. Maybe even psychology.
I hope to be happily married to Chris and maybe even have kids in a few years.
I hope to have a big dog and an iguana. XD
I hope that I'll be happy and successful.

I want to be married in the next 4 years (Richard, if you're reading this, there's no escaping it *evil laugh*)
I want kids sometime in my 30s
I want to go to Graduate school and become a Doctor in Abnormal Psychology
So far, those are my goals. Pretty standard I think, since I'm sure it's generally what a lot of people would like :P nothing too specific though, or else I'd feel like I'd be really disappointed if I didn't achieve it.

I have so much weird goals...here are some:
-Conquer the world (who hasn't thought about that before? I just haven't really gave it up)
-Build my own ancient Japanese/Chinese style mansion in a clearing surrounded by a quiet and serene forest, complete with the gardens and ponds and everything. When I was in high school, I was in a drafting class and our end of the year assignment was to design our own dream house. And I did exactly that, the mansion. It was huge....I forgot what program it was but I would buy that program again to design more dream houses.
-And my more achievable goal (sort of) is to become a famous writer like J.K. Rowling. Instead of movies, I want my works to be made into animes though. They're longer and you don't have to cut out as many details as you would in a movie. Hence why I want to go live in Japan. And besides, until I make it as a writer I want to teach on the side. So I plan to teach English in Japan. If I ever have to return to the U.S. to teach, I like to teach English or Creative Writing.
-But before all that, I just like to get my Bachelors degree right now. I'll get my Masters once I come back from Japan.

I've always thought it would be cool to have an island, but I don't really think it's doable, even with a lot of people. I did think of something similar to what you thought of though, in regards to a house. XD I said, hey, if we got a bunch of friends together, we could buy a mansion with like ten bedrooms and all live in it. I think something like that would be fun for maybe a year or two, living in a huge house with all your friends, but I really think it would get old after that. I can see it leading to arguments and stuff, living with so many people for so long and having to share decisions about the house with so many other people as well. So I wouldn't actually do it. It was just a random thought I had once. In reality, I'd like to have a nice house, normal sized house with my boyfriend. That's pretty much my goal now. To get enough money to buy my own house. If only my boyfriend would actually get a job and help. It's really frustrating because I can't do it alone and I kind of feel like he does nothing to work towards a future of us being together but his time is taken up a lot with college. @[email protected]

But you'd have no plumbing, no electricity, no internet... it'd be less like Kingdom Hearts, and more like crapping in a hole in the ground.
I guess my goals are smaller. I don't want much in life, I enjoy the simple things.
I want a small house with a big garden.
It will be an old cottage, and it will be higgledy-piggeldy, it will have rafters in the ceiling and a fireplace in the living room, and I will dry out herbs in the kitchen and grow nothing but food and daffodills in the garden.
On Summer days I will sit in the garden wearing a straw hat, reading books and drinking gin.
I want to finally finish at least one full-length novel. I want to get on the Best Seller's list, just the once.
I want my husband to acheive everything he wants in his career, and I want our daughter to go to a good school and have a good group of really close friends and never be be bullied or unhappy.

LOL WOW. That is one cool dream you have! xD I am too afraid of hurricanes, floods, and tidal waves to live on an island- and to own one at that, because you'd have to pay for all the damage. xD;;;
My dream is to own a small horse farm, with some chickens, dogs, a few cats, and DEFIANTLY pigs and goats~ Especially goats. I love the small type of goats. They are so cool<3 8D
..The thing is, I am pretty sure that unless I save every bit of the money I make with my job(s) until I turn 35, ( which is a long time, and I don't wanna be that old if I get a farm.. lol >3<;; ) and that is just so I could buy the farm and have maybe one horse. It would take years until I could accomplish getting what I want for the farm, unless I became a millionaire or a miracle happened and somebody gave me their farm for free! /floats away/ 9'x
I think about my future a lot, actually.. About my future husband, kids, the names I want for my kids, my kid's college funds and everything! Though, I don't expect everything to go the way I want it to, of course. I just 'plan out' the most important and obvious things..
But, sometimes I'll say something about my future to my dad, and he'll shoot me down and make me feel like a complete idiot for thinking too much about my future, and that I need to stop 'daydreaming about impossible things'.. He sounds like one of those grumpy old men taht nobody likes in movies when he says things like that to me.
It also discourages me about my plans for my job(s) and everything.. :'c
/floats away again lol/

I have some goals I'll never reach and then some I might.
I want to be able to get enough money to buy a nice house with my own bathroom (not necessarily big-I just want my own bathroom). I want to be able to have enough money for the things I need and some things I want.
I would love to be able to get some of my poems published. I wouldn't mind being a famous writer even though I'm not big on the famous part, but I do wish to be published so if it happens it happens.
I just want to be happy really-even if that is in mediocrity.
And if I end up rich, that's fine too. Spread the wealth to those around me. I like seeing other people happy. It makes me happy as well (somewhat at least).

Buying an island would be pretty neat.
I have alot of goals, some reachable and even doable right now possibly, and some that would be very hard, or even impossible for me to do.
-I want to get a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse in black.
-Learn how to drive a standard.
-Get new furniture for my bedroom (as nothing I have no matches, it's old and I need more storage space)
-Buy my aunt's house (it's really pretty)
-Become a famous artist
-Own my own bakery
-Travel the world

I want to buy a big hunk of land in like.. Montana or somewhere up there. Right now I live in the midwestern united states and I crave more interesting topographical surfaces. Plus I love colder climates so it's perfect. I'd like to live within an hour or less of a sort of city so that grocery shopping isn't a once every month sort of thing but I want to feel sort of isolated.
We have a five year plan, start saving like mad now and head up there in a few years. Rent for a bit, buy some land, stay in the apartment of whatever while the house is being built. Been doing a tone of research and Montana has good wages and you can get lots of land on the cheap. Problem is property taxes. In other states the wages aren't as good and the prop taxes are lower or some other trade off. Weighing our options.
I also plan to squirrel away some money out of each check for a vacation fund.
Since once we get up there we will probably not be able to vacation. I'd like to see some
parts of the country I haven't seen before we go hide in the mountains.
