Okay, so I wanted to do some de-stressing and kick back to listen to Christmas music. Well, my college HATES anything online streaming. Nothing ever wants to stream on the network and I've even heard the college had done this on purpose. I attempted to stream some internet radio but it just was not working. So I was like, "man! I wish I had a radio!"
And then I looked over at my alarm clock. First off, I don't even use my alarm clock as an alarm (cell phone replaced that) - I just like having the time digitally displayed. But I realized that my alarm clock in fact had a radio on it. So now I'm going up and down the stations looking for stuff to listen to.

So I have to ask you Mene -
Have you ever forgotten that your older technology has features like built in radio?
Do you still use an alarm clock or has it been replaced by something like your cell phone?
If you still listen to the radio, what have you been listening to? (I haven't found the Christmas station yet >.>)

a little while ago I found my old walkman... not a discman, a walkman... I had completely forgotten about it.

Haha - I actually had to LOOK up what a walkman was because I forgot what that was.

I barely have any cassettes at home but my old busted up radio (CD and cassette player as well) has like, an audio episode of the original Power Rangers.

I still use my boombox and alarm clock radio. My favorite stations are the ones that have a mix of everything (80's, 90's, and whatever). But there are times when the power goes out, and I'll be really bored, and my i-pod(s) aren't charged, and I can't listen to music. So it's then that I remember I have a headset radio (those headphones that are used only for radio). So I listened to radio to that.

I still live in the old ages of technology, and new ages of technology. But it is amusing going around my room, finding things I haven't seen and used in a LONG time.

Edit: Oh! Forgot to mention that I still have a WORKING VCR, and Playstation. And there is a WORKING NES in my closet as well, and there are tons of games for it too. Most of which work on the first try (others you have to fight with for about twenty minutes before it works).

I used to use my alarm clock radio to wake me up. I'd set it to an unused AM station and turn the volume up. That'd wake me up every time. But now I'm conserving energy to afford heat, so I've unplugged it. I use my cell phone and plug up my iHome iPod alarm thingy at night. I need two things to wake me up on time. If I did that for my other alarm clock, I'd have to set the time every time, but with the iHome thing, it has a battery to keep those things memorized.

Hm, I'm not sure I have anything like that, or any moment like that I can recall. I still have a bunch of VCR tapes I don't want to convert; maybe you and me should get together sometime, eh, Laila? xD

Something I'd like to find and put batteries in is my Yak Backwards. I LOVED that thing! It helped me find out what Missy Elliot was saying in "Work It." I'd use it on Utada Hikaru's song next.

Oh ones - not the yak backs, lol! My siblings and cousins LOVED playing with those.

I still have a VCR - they last longer than the damn VCR/DVD combo. And now DVD players are just getting replaced by friggin's BluRay players.

You want to talk about old school gaming - not only do I have a working Nintendo, also try a Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Sega Dreamcast (who has these, lol?), along with Super Nintendo, Nintedno 64, Gamecube, and Playstation. My brother is a huge gamer so he always got gaming systems - and then when he got the next best thing, the old system would be passed on to my sister and me. I still use my Gameboy Advanced too - forget buying the DS.

I've lost the charging dock for my iPod. It has taken me about six months to remember that my iPod will automatically charge up if I plug it into my computer.
I know right?
It was like a six month long blond moment. :P

@kid-kokopelli:
Oh man - if I was in that situation and realized that after that many months, I would have been so pissed off with myself!

I didn't loose my charger for the computer, it just happened to die but luckily I have a portable DVD player (woo-hoo, door prize won at junior prom) that has a built in iPod dock. And when I want to add songs, I just borrow my roommate's chord.

Lol, I still have a SNES and a Nintendo 64. o.O Plus a cassette tape player.
Though, I have kinda moved on. So, I don't have much old stuff anymore. D:

I still have a working VCR which I use fairly regularly. Yes, it is quite complicated to program, just as many of you "older" folks undoubtedly remember. XD But until I found some videocassettes in the library that I wanted to watch...I had forgotten about it.

I also have an old portable CD player (long ago replaced by the iPod)...which I found recently, buried in a drawer, and realized that...like your alarm clock, it has a RADIO. O_O Will wonders of old technology never cease?

My dad keeps a lot of old gadgets around. I find new old stuff all the time. XD I'll let you know if I find anything particularly interesting. I know that when I first got into serious photography, I used an antique SLR with no electronic components whatsoever - and was amazed at how well it worked.

I forgot my Dad's music system had a radio. Shouldn't have really I mean the thing does everything and is as old as me if not older. :XD I had forgot till I was cleaning yesterday and wanted to listen to Rock radio.

I use my three alarm clocks as alarms when I need to be somewhere at a specific time. One of them is a clock/radio/CD player. I use that to listen to rock radio most days. Mostly because I'm too lazy to turn the alarm off on the bottom so between 8am and 10am the radio is on as my alarm. :XD

My brother still has his Dreamcast. When he got his PS2 he left me his PS1. I left it at my parents' house for my dad to play on when I got my PS2 and XBox360. He wouldn't give me the Dreamcast, but my boyfriend gave me his! I went game hunting months ago for House of the Dead, Speed Devils, Soul Calibur, etc. :) I want a steering wheel; I LOVE Speed Devils! The music's awesome.

I keep forgetting my iHome has a radio. D:

It's only inconvenient because I'll be asleep, and then my little cat Lilly will come into my room, climb up on the bedside table, and press the buttons on the iHome. And she'll turn it to Radio mode. AND IT"LL BLARE STATIC AND MUSIC AND SCARE THE CRAP OUT OF ME.

The first time she did it I nearly jumped out of my skin. She made me want to pee myself. Then I looked to where the sound came from and I saw her little face and her huge round eyes staring up at me.

I was like "Lilly, you're a bitch." ><

@Amani - I have two portable CD players but I think only one of them has radio. I can remember those being expensive D: But geez, I don't even get CDs anymore!
Actually, I've been thinking about getting cheap-o CDs off Amazon or something. I'm getting sick of listening to the same music on iTunes.

@DeLish - To me, best Dreamcast game is Powerstone 2. That game is AWESOME. And the coolest thing - I found it at thrift store so I didn't have to do any online hunting for it! (Years ago my brother or his friend had rented it before.)

@ Lady Wysteria - That's cause Lily is a bitch and wanted you to think of Silent Hill.
HAHA - YOUR RADIO IS GOING STATIC. THERE'S A MONSTER JAMES.

@Ponta: I'm still a CD freak, unfortunately...expensive habit, considering my taste in music (JRock fan here; runs me $40-$50 a CD, depending on the exchange rate x__x). But hey, I love my CDs, and they often come with nice little bonuses. <3 I have a shelf full of imported CDs...good $1000 worth of music once you factor in the shipping costs on a lot of them. XD; But hell if I care about the price...past finding myself a bit silly. XD;

Everyone picks on me because I rarely use the CDs themselves - more often I just play with the little extras (such as the lyric/art booklets and whatnot) after importing the music to iTunes. XD But hey.

Speaking of which, I have a couple more coming soon. <3

If I knew what black hole had eaten the console to TV cable for my Playstation I'd listen to music CDs on that. Those of you who ever did that will remember the Playstation has the same kind of light/sound effects as Windows Media Player does. Which is great for distracting pets with actually!

I forgot you could play CDs on consoles until I was painting the livingroom one day so I gave myself a little light show to watch to liven up the boring decorating.

about 2 weeks ago my uncle was cleaning out a closet in the basement and found a nintendo... like the very first version ever made! and it still works!!!! there were some pretty lame games but boy did it bring me back... i remember watching my mom play the old school final fantasy games on it and me and my brothers playing games like 'yo noid' and some weird island adventure game with aliens and another about a boy in some kind of dream land... so it was a hot commodity for about a week and now it's back to sitting in the closet again *sigh*

I don't like changing my actual alarm clock settings, so I'll use my phone for the unusual, rare wake-up times. I'll also set a couple times so they go off until I get up, and sometimes I'll set my phone AS WELL AS my alarm clock.

I hate that beep, though, so I use the radio part of it- but that doesn't wake me up well enough. So I have it stuck between two stations. Less annoying than BEEP BEEP BEEP but when you wake up to "FJDKOA FDFJDSKFDKMFDLS -STATIC-" it tends to get you moving :)
