Have You Ever Laughed Inappropriately at Anything? Or Made an Inappropriate Joke?

I was reading MLIA and I read one about someone who got a detention for Laughing At Things Other Students Don't Find Funny. This reminded of an incident when I was a junior in high school. I was reading White Noise, by Don Delillo in English class. This book talks a lot about death, and there's a particular line in it, which, out of context is perhaps not so funny. The line was something like
Quote:

"He looks like a man who likes to think about having sex with dead bodies."
I have an odd sense of humor, I know. Anyways, I laughed out loud, and everyone looked uncomfortably at me. I swear, it was much funnier in context...

Anyways, when have YOU laughed at something, or made a tasteless joke, either at an inappropriate time, or at things that are odd to laugh at? Did YOU think they were inappropriate? Or did you not get why everyone was so uptight?

I once laughed when there were child soldiers from africa on tv O_o
I didn't even knew why i was laughing X'D The whole class was watching at me with mad faces >.<

I didn't really laugh, but this was a similar situation. In my first year of high school we were watching a documentary about Pompeii, which mentioned people's brains melting or exploding due to the intense heat of the water which was done by the lava. I just said 'Cool' when it was mentioned, 'cause I like that kinda thing, but a little bit too loud and half the class stared at me funny.

I probably have laughed to myself but not out loud where everybody could hear me. I mean, I am the most unsociable person there and if I just laughed out loud where people would just stare at me and think "Who is that girl? I've never seen her before." they'd just think I am an outsider. xD But I have laughed a lot about sexual content to myself. It's very funny when the only person you have is yourself...-cough-

i make quite a bit of inappropiate jokes ex: some guy at school was talking about being at hotel at 2 a.m. so i quitely said "hmm wonder what he was doing before that" XD it took my friends about 2 minutes to get it and the person i was actually talking to about 10 minutes =.=

Queen Fool 01-23-2010 12:07 AM

Your example made me giggle. Today in fact we were playing volleyball and my friend said FIRST WE'RE GONNA BEAT EM, THEN WE'RE GONNA KILL EM, THEN WE'RE GONNA RAPE THEIR DEAD BODIES! It sounds sick but I mean she was joking and I almost peed.

Also, when people flip out over stupid drama in class and turn red and cry and scream. I shouldn't laugh, but I do.

And I have a very sexual sense of humor.

is it ok if the person is a creepy manipulative jerk? I had this one dude who had a couple of strokes ( and his hand was all twisted and his face was all twisted ) repeatedly ask me out in this long, drawn-out debate: you should date me because i am a gender/women's studies major and I know how to treat you right. personally, i think he majored in women's studies just to pick up chicks. when I said no, and no repeatedly, he pulled the guilt trip on me... oh no you only don't like me because of my hand.

now, the boy i REALLY liked also had issues with this guy. they were neighbors in the dorms, and the guy would apparently guilt him into cleaning his room: look at my hand, I can't clean my room.

It was all such an awkward situation as we wrestled our wants and needs against political correctness, until one day, the boy I liked heard about me and Stroke-guys awkward courting and did the most hilarious impression ever. So you don't think i'm a monster, i wont say what that impression was, but i still find it funny to this day

At a football game ( I'm in band Dx) a guy was singing the Star Spangled Banner, before the game started, on the intercom thing. He was singing a bit high, and it caught me off guard so my friend started laughing then another girl did, and then I was laughing. It was hard not to laugh, I kept literally biting my tongue to stop. Anyway, people were starting to look at us, and I felt pretty bad, but it was funny. I usually don't make inappropriate jokes, but lots of guys at my school do.

Lol *laughed at the sentence from the book*, I would of laughed at that part too. But I'm the type of person who has a twisted sense of humor. And I pretty much laugh at anything that seems a bit unappropriate (but there's a limit to what I'll laugh at). Though I'm the type of person who still giggles when they hear the word "Uranus", lol

always when there's a silent moment for someone dead i start laughing. it's horrible. haha im even laughing right now.
i also laugh in movies at the wrong things. when in Hannibal that guy ate his own brain i was laughing when my friend couldn't even watch it.
macabre things are funny don't you think?

Slapstick comedy has always made me laugh, so I have a tendency (which I do my best to control) to laugh when people get hit in the head with balls, fall flat on their face, or get hurt in general. So...on to the story. A person that I know was walking down the street, slipped on ice, and fell down hard, I laughed my head off and it offended them, I quickly apologized and offered them my hand, but I still felt bad. I just couldn't hold it in that time, lol. Horrible, yes. I guess I watched too many episodes of "The Three Stooges" when I was a kid. *Chuckle*

The Enchanted Tiara 02-05-2010 01:31 AM

I've done both. First of all, I have a horrible giggling habit. I giggle when I'm nervous, when I'm scared, when I'm frustrated, when I'm happy, when I'm flirting, when things are awkward, etc. And it's led me to giggle in some inappropriate situations. I'm not always HAPPY when I giggle or FLIRTING when I giggle and that's where people misunderstand me. Sometimes I do it because it eases the tension for me.

I've made inappropriate jokes before as well. The one that comes to mind the most was when I was at my cousin's bridal shower. We were given these sheets to fill out of "advice" for the bride and we were supposed to finish the sentences. All the sentences had "Never" or "Always" in them. One of them started out,"Never do this with your best friend when you are married . . . . " And I filled out,"Have a threesome." And I thought it was funny because most guys want to have threesomes with their girlfriends/wives and their best friends, but then we had to read them all outloud and everyone stared at me like I was from another planet. It still makes me cringe whenever I think about it, especially since my Mother who is the most untactful person in the world and who is always blurting out weird and inappropriate sexual things, said to me,"You embarassed me when you said that" afterwards. Argh.

I burst out laughing during a documentry about Hurricane Katrina because a woman was making a funny face/sound as she was rocking back and forth holding her dead child.

I'm a little bit of a sadist, so I really can't help it.
Though, I can see why some people thought I was a bitch for it.

Draciolus 02-05-2010 01:54 AM

Too many times to recount. Though, the one that sticks out in my mind was during Drivers-ed. We were watching a video about speeding, one scene shows the speeder, while the other shows the speed limit. Everyone(including the instructor) was laughing when they showed a guy holding a pizza(though we all complained about the loss of a pizza, we were all hungry) getting hit and becoming a rag-doll. Though, somehow we got onto the topic of pizza after that. Oh, and the instructor also told us not to drink and drive, you might spill your beer.

Pyscosusie 02-05-2010 01:56 AM

i feeel.....really mean. cuz i do this all the time. . . . for example- i was at my friends b-day an her mom dropped the cake. everyone else did the gasp crap, i laughed until i fell over. also, during the discussion on the war in iraq, i started laughing becuz all i culd think about was achmed the dead terrorist. i got detention for 2 weeks for disrespecting the dead or watevr.

Fallacious 02-05-2010 02:56 AM

Many many times.

I have a kind of off brand sense of humor and I'm a geek. I will laugh at references people unwittingly make. If something has a hidden meaning to me I giggle. I can't help myself. I also have an ear for puns and make them a little too often. It's just part of my cheesy personality.

Louis duLac 02-05-2010 10:18 PM

I sometimes notice subtle jokes before anyone else and end up laughing while everyone's staring at me like I'm a dumbass. : )

As for most of the most innapropriate....I guess that would have to be when I was watching a movie with my mom and laughed at an incredibly stupid sex scene. Have no idea what the movie was called now, but it was quite old. Mom didn't talk to me for the rest of the day.

Beetle 02-05-2010 10:25 PM

Hehe yeah. At my cousins funeral, I was trying not to cry, so I thought of something that might cheer me up, and I burst out laughing. x_x

Rock Fan Chick 02-06-2010 12:44 AM

I think that is funny! About someone looking like a necrophiliac (sp?). I used to get in trouble all the time when I was in school for laughing uncontrollably at things no one else thought were funny. Sometimes I still can't quit laughing at things. I have an odd sense of humor as well.

Antique Doll 02-07-2010 01:13 AM

I too have an odd sense of humor and quite frequently tell and laugh at dead baby jokes. My friend and I used to tell them all of the time in high school, we've graduated since and he got married and had a child. One day, we were IMing one another and I told a dead baby joke. I don't think he found it as funny as he used to, since he had a new born. He stopped messaging me for a minute. At least I thought it was funny. :]]

[obedient] 02-07-2010 03:48 AM

I laugh randomly, and have a very morbid and different type of humor. I sort of like it that way though.

Mimiroppu 02-07-2010 04:32 AM

My sense of humor is very off sometimes, and I do say things that would terrify the elderly without realizing it. I am thankful that most, if not all, of my friends share that sense of humor with me.

Antique Doll 02-07-2010 04:56 AM

My mother and father so happen to be very religious as well, my father actually being a preacher. I'm quite different, beliefs wise but I never hesitate to use some somewhat crude jokes in front of them. :]] "That's not funny at all, Carmen! D';" 'Oh, it is. Believe me, it is. Dear mother you have no idea! -Currently laughing to the point of tears-'

Salad74 02-07-2010 05:57 AM

I have laughed at "inappropriate" times.
Like when my Jew friend said "What's the difference between a Jew and a pizza?
One doesn't scream in the oven."
I also make "inappropriate jokes. Like when I responded to the above with "What's the worst part about being a black Jew?
You have to sit in the back of the oven."
Boy Scouts was fun...

Synthetika 02-11-2010 11:33 PM

Well I laugh all the time when people get hurt may it be a small thorn or a broken collarbone i just think other peoples pain is funny >.< i cant help it

I also laugh at people when they freak out, i just think its funny to watch them put so much energy into trying to make me feel bad, i used to let it get to me but i picked up on how to make it funny and piss them off more ^_^

and then yes I do have a morbid sense of humor... i think its funny to see road kill twitch or like alot of the things people have said in this thread have made me laugh.
