Everyone learns different. Recently in my Latin 2 class, we had to memorize the 30 forms of hic, haec, hoc. When my teacher kept repeating them, to me it sounded like gibberish, but when I looked at the chart and wrote it for myself a few times, I got it instantly. My friend in the class put the forms to the tune of a song.

We all learn differently. Some of us listen, some read, some need diagrams. Others just need to see quick notes. Personally, reading and writing work for me, but when I have a teacher that teaches mostly by speaking, it doesn't sink in.

usually I have to have something laid out on a chart in front of me with all the info I need to learn stuff XD
especially with memorization type learning. (language, math, science theorems, etc)
I need everything spelt out for me or I get really confused

with art though, I need a lot of observation and physical practice to improve.

if I'm learning a language, I always put it to a song! :D It helps me so much! otherwise, I'm useless in remembering anything at all xD

I am actually pretty lucky and can retain most stuff that I just hear. I write notes but i hardly ever need them. Listening is good for me, as long as I am actually paying attention.

I have to be able to read what is being taught to me. That's why I would totally fail at lectures. I mishear things a LOT, and I don't want to write down the wrong information. And a lecture won't be stuck in my mind. But if I read whatever is being said, it'll stick to me a lot easier. But I can't always learn based on what is in a book, sometimes I need someone to say what is in the book for me to get what it's about exactly, lol. I'm more or less a visual learner anyways =3, also I'm an artist, so I learn a lot by looking and things, and studying shapes, colors, and things like that.

I guess I'm more of a visual learner. It helps me to have something to look at, so I write and draw things out when I'm studying but I also learn by actual physically doing something. I think that's called kinsthetic or kinesthetic learning.

Auditory learning does nothing for me. Someone drones on and on about something and it just goes in one ear and out the other unless I take notes. So yeah, actualexander you ARE super lucky.

This thread also reminded me of the TYPES of intelligences. I think there's seven? Whoa, no there's NINE now. I just looked it up.

The Nine Types of Intelligence

There's a ton of quizzes you can take to find which of these intelligences your strongest in.
I won't link them here but I think that sort of thing is fascinating.

I just read that page, and I'm the last one, spatial intelligence.

I mostly learn hands-on(hencec why Im training to be a chef) but most of the time during my classes, I would hear it, seem like I never understood, but the moment a test was put infront of my, the information just comes pouring out like a burst dam. And I usually finish a test that SHOULD take 30-45min in about 10. Usually with an 88-95% on the test.

That happens to me too with tests. I'll go into a difficult exam totally blind but as soon as I see it, it'll click and I'll do pretty well.

When learning another languages grammar rules I sing the things I'm supposed to learn to the melody of "twinkle twinkle little star" it really helps. For other things it's just repeated typing.

I'm learning Scottish Gaelic which is very hard, due to the fact the words don't look anything like they're pronounced o.o
So it's a lot easier when I hear them, cause then I can understand how to say them.
A Vocab sheet helps too :D

This is a difficult question, I exhibit characteristics of more than one of the categories in Wicked's link. I exhibit linguistic intelligence being a skilled and passionate writer, and some spatial intelligence as I love to draw or at this point rather try.

Pondering it over the last few minutes while sitting in this thread I find that I need a visual at first but can memorize pretty easily. I usually have to sing along with a song with the lyrics in front of me one or two times and I will have it, and I amalso sensitive to sounds I could hear my mom's phone buzzing on vibrate while buried in her purse in the back seat of the car. Before I was accepted into the school my kid cousin takes Piano to take guitar, in I was interviewed by the owner and within the interview I was tested for tone deafness by means of following rhythm patterns of her clapping or tapping piano keys. I passed with flying colors I found it very easy actually. So I suppose I could also exhibit some musical intellegence.

In subjects like math once I have written something out enough it sinks in. When we first learned the quadratic formula in Intermediate Algebra last semester I had the formula memorized by the end of the class and I still do. But I flunked that class and must take it over this semester starting Feb. Math is my weakest subject so I do require help sometimes to grasp a concept, a tutor/learning aid.

My strongest subjects might be no surprise after my mention of being a writer, reading and English. I have an easy time grasping, understanding and even memorizing things I read and what is happening in a story. I have to have this kind of understanding to turn around and write stories. Unless it is in regards to politics, I have never fully understood politics for as long as I have been alive. >_<. But that could possibly be because it's something that bores me, my focus and understanding levels are poor in regards to something I am not enjoying, which may be a reason I am poor in math, and was poor in civics as a senior in high school(required class unfortunately).

I also recognize some traits described in intra-personal intelligence; they are said to be shy, self-aware and self-motivated and that is about 97% me. I would not exactly say I am too self aware unless they mean that I know who I want to be even if I don't believe the world will accept me as this desired person. So it seems to already be rejecting me, I cant get a job or a friend or boyfriend at my college. But I am set on who I want to be and hate when I am forced/encouraged to be anything else and I am very motivated in my goals. I have have trouble taking that first step but I want to take it more than anything in the world. But shy is a perfect word for me which may account for my lone wolf status at school. I don't talk to anyone I find it hard to do so, and in turn no one talks to me. My mom has even once told me that I seem to send off vibes of wanting to be alone. This is not true and I still ponder sometimes what she meant by that. How could I send out vibes of wanting to be alone when I don't want to be alone, and how do I send out vibes period?

So that is me, I have muti-interests and personality traits and thus seem to display multi-intelligences.

^^wow, that was a huge post.

I mainly learn by just copying my notes out and rereading things. However I learn a lot when I have to explain a theory/idea/concept to someone, because then it boosts my confidence and solidifies what I actually know.

I learn things best by saying things outloud~
Which honestly, isn't very handy when I'm at school. : P
After that is probably reading&rereading things to myself~

When other people explain things I just don't catch on very quick. </3
