What are/were your dreams?

I'm thinking of asking you guys about your dreams. This could be your dreams when you are still young, or the dreams of those dreamers out here in Menewsha current;y. I really would like to know more about different dreams of yours. It would be pleasant if you could share it to us. If you are reading this, don't be so shy of telling us what's on your mind. Feel free to write any dreams that you have since then and until now.

As for me, I dreamed of being an architect. To be build houses and lot of beautiful buildings. I also dreamed about being an astronomer and become part of NASA someday. I'd love to go to the universe and see the outside world in this world of ours. I dreamed about being a traveler. Who travels through sea and lands. That's what I dreamed about.

So, yours? what are/were your dreams?
:vicky:

I dreamed I'd be a vet, until I realized how bad I am at science. Until now I love animals, but I settled for doing volunteer work instead. I also dreamed I'd find out there was such a thing as magic and faeries one day. I'm still hoping and dreaming for that one. Haha!

My one dream that did come true was becoming a painter. Well, I'm a painter in the making at least. It's a start.

Keishiro 02-20-2010 02:00 PM

As masked, I wanted to be a vet. Then I realized I had some issues with math an science, and I was too easy to impress to perform any kind of "test operation" in order to learn... so I changed my mind and I wanted to be a writer and an illustrator.
I still do.

Seer of the Past 02-20-2010 02:16 PM

I want to grow up to be a famous movie actress. Either that or on Broadway but I would rather be in moives or on tv.

Dive with a shark, Ms. Rune? That's kinda scary.

Man I wanted to be a lot of things as a kid:
-actress (theatre and movies)
-writer
-artist
-Egyptologist (studying Hieroglyphs)
-Japanese Translator
-a world traveler
-a florist
-professional movie watcher
-Chef
-(there were a gazillion more things, but you think I can remember them now?)

I took tons of theatre acting classes, and I'd still like to be an actress.
I love to write novels to writer is still on the list.
I found out my art wasn't as impressive as I thought it was, so I'm taking a Graphic Design and New Media course to help with a different field of artistry.
I studied every book on Hieroglyphs I could find, and I'm actually not to bad. A little rusty now, but still ok.
Took 3 years if Japanese in High School. Loved every second but to actually make a career with it, not a chance.
I still want to see the world, but I don't think anyone gets paid to just travel...
I still want to be a florist. I love flowers, and arranging them. I think it would be fun.
I so could be a professional movie watcher, if there is such a thing...
I love to cook, but I couldn't be a chef, not enough creativity. Too much following recipes and no fun -.-

Well, when I was little I wanted to be a zookeeper, but I trashed that idea in favour of being veteranarian (seems like a common choice for a lot of people!) because I heard the pay was better. :XD Looking back on it, that seems a really odd thing to think about when you're eight.

Then I decided I couldn't possibly be a vet because I'm so squeamish about blood and the like, so I decided I wanted to be a manga artist.

Then I realised that was dumb (and you can't make a living out of it at all anyway!), so now I just want to go to the Royal College of Art, which really seems more ridiculous than any of the others since it's the most prestigious art school in the city.

Keishiro 02-20-2010 03:10 PM

Uh I forgot to mention I wanted to be a singer and an actor. I'm quite good at everything creative and artistic so I enjoy it very much. I even wanted to be a cook.

I dream about being a writer. I know that I can write every day like you're supposed to do and concentrate on what I'm writing and not move from project to project like I'm supposed to, but I don't know if I'm good enough at writing (although I try to improve and accept critiques and read articles on common mistakes writers make as much as I can) and even if I'm good at writing, there's no guarantee that anyone is going to care, regardless of how good my writing is.

I'd like to make a good enough living to support myself off of it though, even though it's unlikely. I think I might become one of those modern day starving artists.

As long as you love what you are doing that's all the matter. Why lose hope, you never know someone might care about your work. Aside from that, to have the respect of people, you have to work harder and show to the world that you can. Always think the brighter side of everything.:vicky:

My first dream was to become a paleontologist. I thought that digging up dinosaur bones for a living would be the most exciting thing in the world. That dream started after a 1st grade field trip and lasted until about 5th grade. In 5th, I decided that I wanted to be a housewife and have 12 kids like my grandma XD. Now, my dreams are much simpler. I want to have a very content life (done!) and have a nice house with a decent backyard for my children to play in. The hubby and I are well on our way towards being able to go directly from renting to building and should be able to start on our dream home in about 3 years unless something major happens. If the hubbies job keeps promoting him like they have been then we can honestly expect to be able to up the time table to about 2 years.

That's the problem with art, you may love what you do but if the public doesn't love you or your work you aren't going to get any bread. You need to think if your art and passion is worth such a gamble. Or you can always get a day job, which is what most artists do until they get their big break.
Problem is artists don't want to do anything but what we are passionate about which is exactly why a lot of them starve. Hehe. :P

Stallion Duck 02-20-2010 06:08 PM

My dream is to be a journalist, one for music especially.
It seemed like a good idea, putting two of my loves together, writing and music.
I've never done well in writing fiction or playing an instrument, but I can write one of the greatest non-fiction/ research papers and I have a good ear for music (that's being in Music Theory for two years, hah).

Oh, I've got so many. Mainly though, I dream/plan of being a writer and/or/of write silly little comic books about pirates. IF that doesn't work out, I'll keep writing and doodling pirates and start a bakery. IF that dosen't work out I'll keep writing, doodling pirates, baking and sell my soul and go into animation. I also want to see If I'd be an good at making a webcomic.

Draciolus 02-20-2010 10:59 PM

To become a well known Chef. Right now the only thing standing in my way is the economy making it so people arent hiring trained cooks as much as they used to. Well, thats my main dream. The back-up one is for me to rule the world when all chaos hits during the 2012 apocolypse.

When I was little I just dreamed of owning my own mystery mansion. A huge house full of secret rooms and compartments. Full of pretty and exotic items in every room. I would have many servants that enjoyed their job and had fun playing with me when I felt like running around. I would also have a plane to myself so I could travel around the world meeting new friends in every country. I didn’t even have a job in mind when I was little. Haha, pretty simple I guess, but I still kind of wish I could have that.

Now, my dream is mainly to just have a happy life with a job I enjoy (for the most part at least). Since I’m going into Medical Coding a Billing, I wouldn’t mind working in a mental hospital since where I’d be working the people in the hospital couldn’t get to me easily without going through others (making it easier to escape in case of an outbreak). (Yeah, I’ve seen too many horror movies, haha.)
Though, I honestly would love to get into horror movies one day or be a fashion designer (just sketching out the designs, not necessarily making all the clothes). Or both!

When I was younger, I dreamed of being on the moon :D But once I hit 7 and started getting into games, I realised that I wanted to design games. I wanted to be a Video Game Designer :D
I am now 15 and still carry that dream =3 I have the imagination and friends to support me

Kid Disaster 03-10-2010 03:22 AM

I wanted to be an Egyptologist as a kid. That eventually got less specific when I decided it'd be easier to get a degree in archaeology. And yet now, my dreams are set on being a museum curator. ^_^ I literally cried the first time I saw a sarcophagus in person; that was the moment in time that I knew I wanted to devote my life to history.

That's not to mention my dream of someday living on Mars. Haha. I'd absolutely love to be one of the first to live in space.

dieyousucker 03-10-2010 03:24 AM

my dream is to become an astronaut,
then it changed... i dream to become a lawyer! and after my graduation, i'll attend law school!!
its scary but its my dream. i always imagine when i was still a kid, protecting those who are torn apart and denied by the law.
i wanted to be able to help those who dont have the power to speak, people who are deprived of their rights,,, those who doesnt have voices...

kazehaze 03-10-2010 10:59 AM
