My main languages of interest are Japanese (of course), french (currently taking in highschool), italian, german, korean and Russian.

I've always had an obsession with languages. I dont know if it's my nosy heritage of wanting to know what everyone is saying or just the fact that I find them so flipping fascinating. I always wanted to learn Japanese since i was fairly young but over the years other countries and languages have cought my eye. I guess my obsession can also be linked with my obsessive need to advance in ways people in my family have not. I already know English and Spanish seeing as how i am a U.S. born hispanic. xD if that makes sense.

But yeah. Now a days knowing a few languages fluently is a real advantage in the working world. And if you've truly got a gift for catching on and understanding them easily its definitely something anyone should consider doing. :3

I'd like to learn Japanese, French, and German.

ALL OF THEM.
Serious. I would love being a polyglot. I want to study language and be an interpreter. I know a little Spanish right now and I also want to learn French, German, Japanese, Mandarin, and Icelandic. And Latin. And Russian.
And Na'vi, however geeky that may be. C:

Klingon. I hate those guys but the language is funny.
Or another alien tongue. It'd be awesome. I actually wasn't expecting that to be in the poll. Good job.

There are three languages that I want to learn the most (all though I would like to learn as many as possible) German, Cherokee and Latin. I am in the process of learning German right now, my mother is the one who sparked my interest in this language. She was trained by the DLI to speak it fluently and has been speaking it to me since I was little. I want to learn Cherokee because my grandmother is full blooded and was raised on a reservation. I would really like to be able to speak Cherokee to her and it would also give me more of a connection to that part of my heritage. Latin is a really useful language, I want to learn it so that I have base for the rest of the romance languages, can understand literary and scientific terms, and so that I can read old texts!

Well my first language is English, and I'm in a French immersion school... so I know the worldwide/market language (English) plus a European language (French). I guess the next language I'd want to learn would probably be something Asian, like Japanese. I actually took a little class on Japanese in Junior High, but that class only lasted about a week... so I didn't really learn much about the language (plus my teacher was a nut job).
After Japanese my next choice would be Polish. My dad's family is Polish, so it might be kind of neat to be able to say, "I'm Polish and I know some Polish."

musikfreakx 04-11-2010 10:11 PM

German ^.^ I know some right now, and am eager to learn the rest (seeing as I am mostly German). After that I would love to also learn Spanish, seeing as it is one of the most common languages. Knowing extra languages would be a plus on college resumees, and good for the career track I am planning to take (criminal profiler). Knowing multiple languages also opens up many doors career wise.

French. My school actually offers it but for some reason I thought it would be a good idea to take German instead. Not the best idea in the world, I have plans of moving to Canada (as in seriously immigrating not "lol i stupid teen no wanna be in us wif parents durr") and knowing French would be far more helpful than German.
I also need to get off my butt and memorize all the letters in ASCII binary, I can do numbers just not letters. And it would be fun, or rather incredibly nerdy, to be able to insult people in a series of 1's and 0's :b

I'm curious as to what you mean by 'if you could learn any language in the world' - do you mean fluently? I'm learning Korean, Chinese (Mandarin) and Turkish at the moment and re-learning Japanese. (Don't worry, none of them well. And my Turkish is still awful even having lived in Turkey for two years, so I shouldn't really include it..)
I'd love to already be able to speak Chinese fluently, because the tones and vowels are hellish. :<
And dutch too for the same reason.

I actually am going to learn Greek next year.
I already know German.
Japanese would be interesting to learn.

PopRockSkittles 04-27-2010 04:04 PM

I'd love to learn japanese because of how it sounds and my visit to their country before i die :3

Mariposa~rosa 04-27-2010 11:15 PM

I would love to learn Latin because it has so much history behind it (and if i could learn it it would make it so that i would get all of the sciences so much better!)

id also be happy with actually learning Spanish better, the stuff you get at school is really not near enough to really say you get it sadly~

I really want to learn how to speak French someday soon. I live in Canada, and we're bilingual, so French is as much our official language as English. I've always been interested in politics, so I'll need to learn French if I want to do anything on the federal level.

xnozomichanx 05-19-2010 04:18 PM

I would love to speak any language in addition to American English; Latin, or Japanese would be great ^^ or a Slavic language

I'm currently learning Latin and Japanese, and I plan on beginning to teach myself Italian over the summer. I'm going to Italy next year, and I'd like to speak the language beforehand.

After that, I would also like to learn French, Spanish, German, Arabic, and possibly Chinese.

Well, I found these while browsing around. Byki is supposed to be free (unless you want Deluxe, then it's $50...so I'm not sure what they'd withhold from you in the Express...but hey...it's free language software with a wide selection of languages...) And LanguageBliss hasn't launched yet, so I know nothing about it...but I'm keeping it bookmarked so I can find out soon.

Learn Spanish, French, German, Italian and over 70 languages with Byki software.
