Just curious what y'all eating habits were. I'm a strict vegetarian (aka vegan).
How do you eat? And what's your favorite meal?
Mine's penne pesto primavera...I make the pesto myself; sooo delicious. XD

I love meat. I love buying meat and cooking meat and ordering meat. I eat a lot of fish, too.
My favorite meal is probably blackened salmon with steak spices or really really well cooked medium-rare steak.
I don't like my food to touch. -__-;; So I have things in separate bowls or plates, or I eat them in order from the stove, except for items that won't bleed into eachother, like carrots, french fries, etc.

AH! Pesto is love! My family has a garden in our backyard, and so we have fresh, homegrown ingredients and we make it ourselves! It is the bomb!
My dad is an amazing cook, so I usually either force him to make his fabulous mashed potatoes and salt chicken, or his ... er, I forget the name, but it's this real good kind of pasta and pie thing. It's soooo good !

I'm trying to make the transition into vegetarianism... but I'm poor, and it's expensive to eat strictly veg and still be healthy when you have a limited budget. But I'm trying! Hahaha.

LOL... I love your last option. Though I dont like Ramen, so this poor college student does easy mac. I eat pretty much everything (if I dont like it, I wont eat it until 2 more years) except for fish. My body demands a lot of nutrition out of me, so doing committing to a vegan lifestyle will ruin my body (that and I seriously love honey and bacon too much), but what I do eat, I try to do everything in moderation (even moderation itself) and organic. It is very hard for me to find tasty organic milk, and milk bi-products.

It is extremely cheap and even more healthy to be a vegetarian...don't believe the blatant lies, whoever has been telling you this! What it may be, however, it a bit more work--to save money and prevent eating any additives I don't want to eat, I try to make as much food as possible (ie, baking my own bread, not buying pre-made dinners.

Well, if it's any consolation, it's much better for your body nutritionally to be vegan. Know what the number one killer of women is? Milk. Causes osteoporosis and bone loss (contrary to popular belief, it actually strips bones of calcium), and can instigate cancer, especially breast cancer in women. What protein allows for cancer development? Animal protein. I have actually improved upon my body, and not ruined it. And, I still eat honey--not all vegans give that up (my boyfriend does, I don't). Honey is good for you!
Anyway, sorry to rant. I usually don't care what people it, so long as they're actually getting accurate information to go off of. ;)

ill eat anything as long as i am hungry.
im not picky, but it doesn't mean i don't discern without taste. if the food really tastes bad, then i guess its bad.
though meat is good, i also love leafy vegetables. lettuce, spinach, and those kinds get me. heck, i'll even eat broccoli and cauliflower too, if im hungry and its on the menu!

I appreciate that you try it inform me :D (and I do rarely have milk - I just looove cheese) However, estrogen is the thing that keeps bone healthy with milk, when a womens produces less estrogen (like in menopause - which is why they advise older women not to drink milk, the less fattier the better too), she cannot make the enzyme that allows the body to to absorb the calcium in milk. It is like that with a lot of different types food. For example, depending how long you been a vegan, you might not ever meat a again (not that you want to), but your body is probably now so used to not having animal protein that your stomach doesnt release as much pepsin (an enzyme that breaks down protein for your body to digest later in the small intestine) so if you ever had to, you will feel the worst heart burn in your whole life. As for animal protein, I agree with you, it is needed in the body, but nothing you cant take from a plant like soy or peanut. What is the problem with animal meat here really is the fact people (specially with America - cough hamburgers cough) treat meat as the main source, and our bodies really need it as a rare side course (the body uses meat to essential minerals like iron, zinc, magnesium, vitamin E, and B vitamins and amino acids your body cant produce, and you have to eat more in plants than meat to get these). So it all depends on the body.
Awe know I feel like I ranted....I am soo sorry if you think I am terrible. I love Honey <3

I love everything you say! Normally people attack me when they find out I don't concur that eating meat and dairy is an absolutely fail-proof diet. You're right though--and for immediate growth and supplies, it is way easier to get protein from animals (the most high-quality protein is actually human flesh...but I wouldn't recommend cannibalism...yuck...). The health risks and damage to environment and other species put me off it, though.
Ya know, most people who can't get to a vegan diet do say they hardly drink milk, but love cheese. If only there are good-tasting alternatives! Oh well, people are working every day on how to solve the alternative cheese taste-test. I must be patient!

Nah, cannibalism isnt for me. Lol.
No, I totally respect people that are vegetarian, vegans, or only eat raw foods, many reasons why you don't eat animals, is the same reason why I eat organic. Some of the reasons why I do eat meat, like deer because settlers in the 1700-1900 killed all their predators like wolves and what not, is because there is an overpopulation, but again isnt my food stable, it is a rare thing... I hope they make a good cheese soon though, organic tasted bad.

To a point it makes sense to point it doesn't. Cancer has been around for eons. Paleontologists discovered Dinosaurs suffered from it. But it still doesn't explain why Sally gets Cancer and Polly doesn't if they eat a balanced diet and exercise and try to live a healthy lifestyle.

I'm an omnivoire, though since I've been at university I have slowly been turning into eating more of a vegetarian diet. Mostly just because meat is so expensive..and I don't eat enough of it to get my money's worth, and there's too much effort into cooking it. I find that vegan and vegetarian dishes just have so much more flavour, and diets of that nature are generally more healthier, low in saturated fats and have tons and tons of phytochemicals. And it's tres cheaper.
Next year two of my housemates are vegan and another is a lactovegetarian, so I definitely will be eating less meat..but I love meat alternatives too though. Chickpeas are my homeboys!
At home, away from cafeteria foods and stuff..I'm always constantly snacking on something, maybe it is because I'm generally bored and there's just more food for me. I usually skip lunch though.

I don't really like meat, but I'm not a vegetarian. I don't see a problem with people eating meat, its how the food chains work. Other animals eat each other all the time, & what are we, besides another animal on the planet? I do like to eat meat once in awhile, but I'm very picky with all my food choices. I do like meat on things like burgers or pizzas, but I never like large chunks of meat on a plate (Beef, steak, etc).

I'm an omnivore/ramenarien. I usually eat chicken, eggs and I only eat beef in hotdogs, tacos and burgers. I don't eat seafood at all. I would die without cheese  I'm a very picky eater so I hardly eat any veggies. I LOVE bananas.
Chicken ramen is my favorite ^_^
Yeah, my diet pretty much sucks lol.

I eat pretty much anything that's not nailed down. Except olives, certain types of fish, and anything containing oregano. And now gummy bears. After spending 12 hours making a mosaic out of them for history freshman year, the smell repulses me.
I eat every hour, pretty much. When I'm bored, when I'm not, I just like food. I'm not overweight, either. It's not that I have a fast metabolism, it's just that I used to be a distance runner and I'm still in the habit of covering a lot of miles.
Generally I find it's not best to discuss vegetarianism in public, because a lot of people will either have their facts wrong or crucify you if you don't agree with not eating meat.

I agree. I have an extensive bit of knowledge on the subject, but it doesn't seem to matter to people with opinions of their own, no matter what the facts really are. I'm pretty non-confrontational, except when people tell me that vegetarian/vegan cooking is not tasty. It hurts my feelings because I like to cook good food!
I guess if I wanted to debate it I'd take it to the debate forums....maybe I will later, who knows...
