What are you talking about? There's nothing like that in her post. :gonk: Unless she edited it before and I just didn't see it.

@MidnitesToxicShdow: Saying stuff like that to a user is against the site's rules, just to let you know. Edit: Never mind then.

Well then, this thread is going rather oddly. *ahem*

I'm not a photographer myself, but I do have two friends who are into it and are rather good. One of them does people, the other one is more into artsy things and nature. I've heard both of them say something along the lines of 'The only way to mess up a picture is to try to hard to make it perfect' more then once. Just go with the flow and keep your hand steady, don't try to hard for perfection.

Rather confused but okay. I sugest you don't go for price, go for cannons though. I've not had any complaints with any cannon i have. they are hardy things that just don't want to die. [I've dropped mine on concrete so many times, spilled a whole glass of milk on it. Thing still works its so funny.]

If you are thinking about true photography, and trying to get the best shots available, i'd say save up and get a decent Digital SLR. Nikon or Canon's are both great companies that each have their own fan base and quirks.
I know someone who LOVES canons and will swear by them, and another friend who is in love with her Nikon D60.
The SLR cameras are very very expensive, but can take fantastic photos with the right settings and a tripod.
If you have the ability to play around with one you should. Mess with the settings and the len's. Its great fun.

Wow, that has to be the most interesting mis-interpretation of words, ever. Ponography-Photography? Hmm. Although, that is what it appears to be. A mis-interpretation/understanding of the word.

Anyways.

Do you have a DeviantArt account? I've found some VERY helpful photography tutorials and tips there, more that I expected, to be honest.

Take pictures all the time! Even of silly things! Take pictures of textures and weird close-ups, so you're changing the settings on your camera and really getting to know it intimatley.

As for what camera to buy, I DO NOT recommend buying a new one until you really feel comfortable with photography. Sometimes the right lighting and camera settings can take a better picture than an new/expensive camera without the knowledge to use it.

Investing in a tripod is a really good idea, too.

Edit Besides Photoshop, there is GIMP, a free program comparable to Photoshop. It's not half bad, actaully.

@xoarchangel Are you sure? How does one make a post about ponography, and turn it into a completly diffrent convo about photography w/o anyone else noticing? Besides, her post was edited at 9:16, well AFTER Twisted Insanity posted...

So I'm rather confused here.

Edit: Ah! More confused, posts are dissappearing! Clean-up?

Ever feel like you missed something? *Looks at the conglomeration of posts before this one* I wish I'd seen the post that started it all. ^_^

Anyway. I suggest that you get a book on photography/ just look at the work of other professional photographers to learn.

Some good things to consider when taking pictures:
-leading lines
-your center of focus

I'm really into photography!

I'm sort of new but I think I'm pretty good with it so far. I took a digital photography class in high school, it was a lot of fun.

Anyway I think the best thing for you to get is a Digital SLR camera. They can be very pricey but they are worth it! This site has a lot of used cameras for good prices Buy & Sell New & Used Cameras ? Canon, Nikon, Hasselblad, Leica & More - KEH.com. The teacher of the class I took had 2 cameras from this site and they were really great and in good shape. Both Canon I believe. They might be a bit old looking but believe me, they are still usable and awesome. You don't need to have a brand new camera to take awesome photos.

I ended up getting a new Digital SLR camera for christmas though. My dad picked it out. It is a Nikon D40 and I LOVE IT. I know a lot of photographers probably dislike it. D40 is a pretty cheap model and I heard something about it not being able to be used with a wide variety of lenses or something, but I don't know. I don't have much money so I have to use the lens it came with . I have no problems with it honestly, and it's a GREAT camera. My lens is actually BROKEN (Thanks to my mom) and it still works really well. I just have to hold it on with rubberbands HAHA.

But yeah, look into that site and you can also look into the D40's because they are pretty cheap. Also I suggest looking for photography classes. There is more to photography then just pointing a camera. You need to learn about shooting in manual mode, about composition , everything really! There is a lot to learn but it's really fun!

Also, as far as photo editing programs go. You can try Picnik.com. It's a free ONLINE photo editing program. I really like this actually. I have photoshop and paintshop pro, and I favor Picnik over both. I don't know why, I guess it is because there are limits which cause you to become more creative with your editing.

Good luck!

EDIT: if you'd like to see some of my work , you can go here
DA
I suggest making an account there if you plan on getting more into photography. Either that or Flickr, but I prefer DA.
