Yep!, that's how patriotic i am. I'm not saying that any other place is better, but i can honestly say that this bloody country is going to hell and the best thing that could happen here is big nuke blowing up the capital away.
If you are wondering, i'm from Caracas Venezuela, wich means that i am included in the people that would die in case of a nuke blowing up here. Now, you might wonder what makes me say that this freaking place sucks. Well, the new violent video game law makes me.
Our government, in it's infinite wisdom, has decided that ratings are not enough to protect children from violence in games, and have declared them all ILLEGAL. Yep, right now having Call of Duty in your bag is as bad as having one kilogram of cocaine (2,20462262 pounds). If you are caught selling "violent" video games or toys you are facing 2 to 5 years in prison.
With this law aproved they are moving on to the internet law, in wich they are going to control what information we recieve through the world wide web. Basically we won't be able to find stuff they don't want us to find. They'll block whatever info they want.
Now, i have a small request. If some of you american people are walking in the street, and you see Sean Penn around, go and ask him for an autograph. Then kick him in the nuts for me, for this bastard surely has like a thousand ps3 on his room and plays with them as much as he wants with nobody telling him that he'll go to prison if theres a gun on the tv! And being such an idiot, he says on tv that people who talks bad about Hugo f***ing Chaves should go to jail. Well i guess that if he reads this he woul inform the president so i can be arrested for critisizing the stupidest law ever writen on human hostory.

That really sucks! Wow, I honestly don't even know what to say to that. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. They're just video games.
Also, why specifically Sean Penn? (I'm Canadian, and my chances of seeing him are preeetty slim, but he seems like a pretty specific target :XD)

Ah, sounds like the soon to be united states if we're not careful.
Or, it could go the exact opposite and we get freedom to do whatever, whenever, to whomever we want.

Sean Penn has come here a few times and has expressed his aproval to our president. He recently said in an interview that anyone who oposed Chavez should be put in jail. What pisses me off about people like him is that he talks a lot of cr*p. He supports a regime that he is not part of, just so he can be seen as some sort of "anti Bush idealist". I don't likes George W Bush, but i don't pretend to understand how it is to live under his presidency being from Venezuela.
Sean Penn is not selling his houses in Usa to come live here. And i'm sure he likes to do whatever he wants with his money. If he wants to talk about how cool is the government of Hugo Chavez he should live for a year here. He would see that police men are so underpaid that they are just another tyoe of criminal. Our police force makes money KIDNAPPING PEOPLE FOR RANSOM. And the goverment keeps giving them stupid laws to empower their capacity to step in human rights.
Now, what i find stupid about people like Sean Penn is that they talk about this kind of stuff without puting themselves in the position of a Venezuelan citizen. He just talks sh*t so he can give a political image. he doesn't care about the message, he just cares about being in newspapers. My advice to that f*ckface is to go and sniff two kilos of cocaine, it will boost his career as much as what he's doing and he won't be seen as such an *sshole.

I've heard that Australia is going through the same problem. got a question though. how much sex is banned in your country? i see violence being banned a lot in other countries but sexual content and nudity is okay, whereas in America sex and nudity is attacked and we love the violence. so what's the status on that over there?

We have enough Christian nut bags telling us that these things are bad, luckily they can't do anything about it.

Uh Ziatenaj, America is horrible when it comes to censorship. They tend to be more lax when it comes to video games, just stick to the ratings and don't give a sh*t, but when it comes to movies or music, well you can pretty much kiss freedom of speech away.
Canada really falls under the same line as America, so I'm afraid I wont be very useful to you Rom. But man that sucks. So you can't play any video games? Not even the crappy Barbie (r) or My Little Pony (r) games? Wow. What if you already had games and a console? Did they just take them away or what?

Oh wow that's pretty freaking extreme. Can you tell me if it's true that any game that has a weapon is banned? Like Legend of Zelda?
This makes me wonder what they will ban next when they find out this does nothing to improve violence:(

America's censorship is in the form of media propaganda. we're not actually told what's going on, we're told what they want us to hear.
and for the record, i am a christian (unorthodox), and while i don't approve of certain things personally, the point of America is freedom for everyone. Freedom to do and say what you please and get what you work for. so i usually just roll my eyes when i hear of Christians trying to get something banned by the government. it's not the American way.

Harsh, dude. D:
The videogame thing is ridiculously stupid politically, also. :/ it's basically saying to a whole generation "if you didn't hate me before, you sure hate me now! No fun for you! harhahrdedhhahr" Considering how authoritarian he's become, it's just.. so freaking stupid. Argh. That shit is wack
Idk, I don't know that much about Venezuala, to be honest. Just enough to say that.. jesus.

Yeah, I agree with you about American Celebrities.
It's very popular for celebs in America to bash America and raise up other countries. America isn't perfect, but then, no country is, and I sure as hell am glad and thankful I live here.
Censership is everywhere. Every country has it. There's not one county that doesn't have secrets kept from it's people. I could honestly care less.
Save up your money and move to America, where there's violence in video games galore.
And yeah, we have a lot of bans on nudity, but it's not anywhere near the case of if you have porn in your house or on your computer you get thrown in jail.
....Unless it's kiddie porn.
...which is a good thing.
(... being thrown in jail, not kiddy porn.)
Also, I would love you forever if you kicked Sean Penn in the balls, lol.

Well, i have not seen this thread in some time.
Answering a few things some people has posted:
First, if you by any chance, already posses games with violent content, the police have the authority to seize and destroy them. (yep it's writen on the law). So basically, police can enter your home and take your games away. (Because trust me on this, they will not destroy them, the bastards will sell them). For every game they find with violent content, you'll be fined with 2000 to 4000 BsF. Wich is a lot of money here. Now, if the police considers you have enough games to sell and they can prove you are trading (or in this case smuggling) them. You face 2 to 5 years in jail.
Second, yeah, every game that has some sort of violent activity, or shows weapons of some sort is considered illegal. Swords, Clubs, even a slingshot. One of the laws problems is that it is too ambiguous. It says that every game or toy that emulates some sort of conflict is violent. Therefore, Chezz is basically as illegal as Call of duty. I guess, soon we'll be seing some sort of correction to the law. If not, you can be thrown to jail if caught selling chezz boards.
Finally, i'll be sure to kick Sean Penn in the balls if i can. I don't care if some bodyguard gives me the beating of a lifetime. I'll make sure he tastes them.
