I think the sweetest thing that's ever been said to me was by a friend I had in middle school. He had moved away, and we somehow managed to cross paths again after we'd both graduated. His first words to me once we met up again?:

I honestly cant remember any of the ones Ive said to girls, but its at those times when you just know what needs to say, and after you say it you just cant put it back into words. Though, one of my ex's liked it when I knew exactly when some guy was being an ass to her. So all I needed to do(after asking her "Whose ass am I kicking now?" the first few times) was give her one of those quizical looks, and she would almost instantly start to smile.

But aside from that, Im pretty much a hopeless romantic.
