Guys jeans for girls?
Heya! I've got a fashion question for all of you snappy dressers out there.
I'm a girl, and I like to wear semi sporty/edgy clothing. I really like the look of baggy jeans for girls, and I think the best way to achieve that would be to wear a pair of guys jeans. What do you guys think? Do girls look good wearing guys jeans, or should I just get girls jeans in larger sizes? There's a kind of cut of girls jeans called "boyfriend jeans" but I think they just look like regular girl jeans :\ I normally wear an 11 for girls jeans. I think I look great, btw, so I'm not ashamed of that number XD I'm pretty curvy. This is the look I'm going for: |
Yeah, you can just buy guy's jeans. I'm a girl and I wear dude jeans all the time. xD I mean, then you can wear a chain and carry a wallet and have a switchblade in your back pocket and nobody will think twice about it.
|
Hahaha  Thanks!
How do you do the conversion from guy's sizes to girl's? |
Guys pants uses measurements and girls use solid numbers
just measure yourself and then buy your size it should be like 26x30 or something |
Yeah, what Tilly said.. but measure yourself around the butt. Most people measure at their natural waist and I'm like "wtf no that's not how you do it D:<"
|
I wear guys jeans since I'm a guy and I measure like halfway between the butt and my waist, because that's where my pants sit. D:
|
No girl looks good in guy jeans, and especially not the baggy types. It looks lazy, just being honest here, and wearing guys jeans does not make you look edgy or sporty. Kinda goes hand in hand with women wearing suits, which went out of style quite a while ago and has stayed that way for one reason: guys clothes and built for guys, and womens clothes are built for women.
The only one you're really going to impress wearing those is yourself, because while you're trying to show off your "equality to men" everyone else really won't give a care. Trust me, no one does other than noting how weird you look. |
I don't get 'guys jeans for girls' but I often steal my older brothers pants. They're comfy and sometimes I like to wear clothes that don't show off the fact that I'm a girl. But most of the time I like my form-fitted, boot cut jeans ^.^

I like tight jeans too, but I think I look good in clothes that are slightly too big :P |
I remember my cousin was talking about something like this one time.
She said a woman wouldn't look good in a man's jeans cause they are, by definition, made for men. Our hips are squarer, so a woman loses her curves. Also, a man's pair of jeans is made to accommodate his package. So by wearing their jeans, a female looks like she's packin'. ... That made me laugh. |
Do whatever the hell you want! Brownie points to anyone who goes against the grain! You earn respect for not feeding into utter BS to the tune of whatever Louis is milling on about.
I myself tend to wear tighter/more fitting jeans as a guy. And I see nothing wrong with women wearing looser jeans, just for that reason! If I can do what I want, so can they. We're all here to do as we please. Some of us are better at buying into the "norm" than others, that's all. |
I would love to wear guys jeans.. But it hadn't even occurred to me :o
|
See, I tend to agree with Louis that guys jeans on girls don't look good, but really there's no reason to disapprove of them. Wear whatever you want.
|
...ew
|
I think they look good but you really need to have the right kind of ass for them. I think pants should be fit at the hips and butt and comfortably loose in the crotch and loose in the leg. Because I feel that most women's pants are not like this, I tend to try and find vintage men's pants.
|
Boys dont have hips D:
I've tried wearing both my boyfriend's pants and my brother's when mine aren't around. And, omg, it is the most awkward thing in the world. I can't fit them over my childbaring hips, and they fall right off if I find one that goes over them. I can imagine a very tiny girl feeling good in them, but my butt just says no. It's not that I'm fat, its my curves. If you like them, awesome. They don't look all too weird. |
If you want to wear guys jeans then it's your choice, though personally I wouldn't like to wear guys jeans. Any clothes that are meant to be mine I get in female variety. The only time I have ever worn guys clothes was when I was borrowing a friends jumper when I was freezing and didn't have my own.
One male style clothing I love has to be boy pants, I love the short undies :) |
The pictures you posted don't look very flattering in my opinion. I say go for it if you want to wear boy jeans, but pull them up a bit higher than the girls on those photos because that just looks... strange... in a not so lovely way. /:
I'm a female who wears boy's clothing all the time---much more comfortable than whatever women think is 'stylish' now-a-days---so I know where you're coming from with this idea, but when your crotch sags a foot lower than it's supposed to, people are going to notice. /: But again, this is just my opinion, do what you want, it's your life and I'm all for freedom. |
That would certainly be a baggy look. I don't recommend it for you.
Pants made for men would not accentuate those curves you are proud of. The girls in the pictures are not your size (Is that Victoria Beckham in the middle? Not a good comparison) and the same effort would look very different. It would probably make you look bulky and I don't think that's what you're going for! I don't think it would flatter you. But you know what? Try it anyway. You might find a pair that works perfectly for what you want. You don't know until you check it out. It's a different idea, and I think that's cool. Men have different cuts of pants, too, so look into the one that would be the best. They'd probably be pretty comfortable. Do what you want! |
I wear boy jeans, but that's because I hate girl's ones. Boy jeans tend to be baggier than girl's ones, so you can switch to those if you feel like it.

Pants.
I say wear whatever you want. Sometimes I don't like how tight a lot of jeans are. It's not the most comfortable thing. I have a pair of jeans that are several sizes too big for me that are women's jeans. They belonged to someone else but I ended up with them. They are good for when I want baggy jeans. I don't have any men's jeans, but I did wear my boyfriend's pants once. Mostly because he and I are both skinny and about the same size and I wanted to see if his pants would fit me and if mine would fit him. XD His pants did fit me just fine, so I wore them the rest of the day. I don't think they were real baggy though. Like I said, we're about the same size, so they felt pretty normal, but I'm pretty sure weren't as tight as some of the other pants I have.

Hmm.. I think you should try clothes on before you buy it. See how it looks. Just cause you think you'll look good in something doesn't guarantee that after you wear it your thoughts will be the same. I don't think clothing stores will care if you try on male clothes in their dressing room. they might be a little curious is they find some things that they put away, but other than that I don't think it'll matter. There are different kinds of styles that men have. Skinny jeans, baggy ones(which you seem to like more), etc. Personally, if I were you, looking at the three pics, I'd go for the jeans way on the right. That styles just looks slightly more feminine to me.
I've seen plenty of women who can pull of skinny jeans, but because you are around the same size in pants that I am, I am not sure if either of us could xD Good luck, and remember: Try before you buy! |
I LOVE that style. Finding a girls jean in a larger size just doesn't seem the same. Baggy girls jeans tend to have more room in the buttocks area than I'd like. I Want them to be baggy, not make my bottom look like it's sagging! I'd rather just buy guys jeans and make the look as it should be. Adding a simple belt and simple top also just makes that look even better. It's so comfortable and casual! Not only that, but it's easier to find jeans for my height (5' 10" and long legs!) when I look in the guys section.
|
yea I think girls can rock guys jeans x]]
|
I like your aesthetic <: If I wasn't so set on wearing dresses and skirts I'd probably wear them too. |
