So any updates, Donny? Are you going to get your teeth taken out?

I need to get all four of mine pulled. I have enough space in my mouth, but the little buggers decided to some in crooked! >3>

But I don't think that it'll be bad. I don't want to be knocked out, though. Novacane works well for me, as far as I'm concerned.

I had all of mine pulled because they were growing in crooked and pushing all of my other teeth forward, creating a domino-looking slant of teeth (or so the dentist said). They didn't hurt at all, I felt absolutely fine, but the dentist insisted.

So I got them pulled. It hurt. My mouth was sore for a month, I couldn't eat for a week, and it was just miserable.

I've not been to a dentist since. They're ebil!

I'm lucky and won't have to worry about it at all. I'm not only missing my wisdom teeth, but an additional molar on the bottom. So I have plenty of room. My dentist pointed this out to me one day by stating,
'aren't you lucky, you're missing a molar which is very rare. This means that if you ever die horribly and are burned beyond recognition we'll have an easy time identifying you from your dental records!'
and then he tweaked my nose. I was 22 at the time. Granted, my dentist was my father's dentist when he was a kid, so the guy ahs been around for forever and you can tell, he figures he doesn't have to care anymore and just spouts out everything and anything. He finally retired last year. Which, is probably for the best.

I don't have wisdom teeth. :boogie:

I've got my mother to thank for this one - Most people on her side of the family simply never developed their wisdom teeth. I'm so lucky that mine never grew, because there's no way that they would have fit in my mouth anyway. I had to have about five teeth pulled as a teen because of crowding, I can't imagine trying to fit any more in there!

Mine have not actually started to hurt me yet, but I have to get them out in the next few months, because there's not enough room in my mouth. The top ones are coming in halfway on top of my teeth, and the bottom ones are under my jawbone. So yeah, not good. :XD

Thing about wisdom teeth is that is varies so much from person to person. The degree of anesthesia can be being numbed to being put under, and anything in between, the level of pain depends so much on the procedure they used, the pain medication you got, and your own tolerance. Best case scenario I've heard from someone who had theirs out was that it hurt, but they went back to work the same day the got them out, worst case was a friend of mine missed a week of school. According to my dentist, mine'll be really nasty to extract and I won't have a nice time of it, but his assistant told me he didn't think it would take more than three days for me to recover well enough to be able to handle going to school.

I'm not too worried yet. I'm hoping to get it done in early November or December, and hopefully the pain meds will be strong enough that I won't be desperate to sleep as much as possible and I'll be able to spend any recovery time I might need reading, writing, and keeping caught up on homework. :) Not sure how realistic this expectation is, but gotta stay positive!

Hmm...wisdom teeth, be lucky you're getting yours now, I still don't have mine, my Mom had hers grow in when she was forty-six and they were impacted horribly, which caused a nasty infection. Just remember, you could have it worse.

Haha, ohhh, my wisdom teeth story is one of my favorites to tell. Especially since I don't remember most of it.

I had to have all four of my wisdom teeth out because my top jaw was too small to accommodate them and my dentist said it'd be bad news to have bottoms without matching tops. And let's just say that while they promised to put me to sleep while they operated, they did not give me enough knockout drugs to do the trick. XP So I was mostly numb during the procedure, like it didn't hurt, but I could feel the pressure and wrenching of the tools in my jaw, as well as the clamp holding my mouth open, and I could hear everything they were doing which was pretty gross to be quite honest. It probably didn't help that the surgeon fouled up on two of the teeth and broke them, so they had to be taken out in pieces and left little shards of bone in my jaw that irritated for days before they finally could be taken out in a second procedure. (Note: That was a complication and not a usual occurrence at all. My brother and best friend both had wisdom teeth out and had no bad or weird experiences, just pain in their jaws for about a week after, and a little bleeding before the stitches could be taken out.)

ANYway, I was just groggy enough from the meds that I could not control what I was doing or saying very well, and apparently...after they took the clamp out of my mouth, so my mother was told by the nurses, I immediately started in on a profane tirade against everyone present and teeth in general. XD; I was about sixteen and was definitely not a foulmouthed child, which makes it even funnier. So it seems the nurses got me out of the operating chair and dragged me down the hall into a room with a couch to lay on because they did NOT want me to leave with my parents and go out through the waiting room in the state I was in. I may or may not have attempted to kick the dentist in the leg on the way out, depending on which parent's account you believe. All that I remember of this is that I was PISSED OFF and disoriented, and then I woke up in that back room and left.

The moral of the story is either 1) make sure that if you want to be knocked out, you get enough knockout drugs, or 2) KidK Mirai is crazy when doped on anesthesia. Perhaps both.
