@cashuea - Yeah... >.> I know. I mean, school is a good platform base for an AU, but it's so basic... I guess with the whole literate thing is that they want to make the roleplay descriptive enough to make it interesting. >.> I guess they just want to make it an online book... I don't know why, since it was supposed to be fun and not work... But oh well. ^^ It's okay, I don't mind rants. Adventure/Mystery usually have interesting settings, so I'd say you've chosen good types to start! :D

Mimiroppu 09-13-2010 11:28 AM

I love fantasy and romance RPs. The only fandoms I ever really RP for are Yu-Gi-Oh! (DM, none of the others) and Pokemon. I'm not immersed enough into other fandoms to feel like I'm accurately portaying characters... I used to dabble in everything, though. xD I've been RPing Yu-Gi-Oh! for seven years, mostly the same characters.

I tend to write for days and the post size (sometimes several pages long) is intimidating to a lot of people. I can, however, tone it down, and that's what I've been working on doing lately.

The one thing that really turns me off of any RP, no matter how good, is when the person pesters me constantly for posts. I take my time on them, and sometimes I do get stuck. I let my partner know when this happens, but I literally got the response, "Writer's block? What's that? Just go smoke or something and come back and write!" once. I was not too pleased by that, and even after explaining it further I only got told to post.

As far as games... I love fantasy RPGs. Magic users and thieves for life, yo.♥

CADFND 09-13-2010 07:40 PM

@Mimiroppu - ^^ I agree, but I like Adventure/Fantasy a bit more than romance. >.> I haven't dabbled too much into fandom RPs, I more write fan-fiction than do those so far. The only few characters I believe I can keep in character with are actually somewhat like myself. >.> Though that's not too many in recent fandoms of mine. (I usually write fan-fictions with ocs more than using the pre-existing characters.

^^ Well, I think they should value that you took your time and wrote carefully.

Ah, yes. >.> I often worry about that. I'm only a part of one RP so far (it needs more people to actually start though...) and the person in charge is very understanding. >.> I usually become a victim of writers' block (as is she). And... o.O That's outright irritating. >.> Good writers need time to figure things out, especially with writers' block.

^^ I agree.

Vexatious~Venom 09-13-2010 07:45 PM

Well...I like many different types of roleplays, but I have to say, I love yaoi <3

CADFND 09-13-2010 08:11 PM

@Vexatious~Venom - XD Ah, yaoi. I haven't been in a yaoi rp before, but I do rather like it. ^^ Very cool. I bet they get very interesting as the story progresses.

lostvampgurl 09-14-2010 03:55 AM

ONES thAT MAKE SENSE!! omg some people have random posts and call them rps. just cause you pretend doesnt mean its likeable. i like ones that make sense and stick to its plot with in a certain range. like you cant make an underwater rp suddenly have people in space. AINT GONNA HAPPEN!! even if the who genre is eww like romance stuff ill join in if it something workable.
im all about the action and fantasy tho. that does not mean underwater space creatures

Cherry Who? 09-14-2010 06:31 AM

Well, for RPGs, I love just about anything! I was raised on RPGs, so I'll play any, pretty much. My favorite are fantasies, though. But aren't most RPGs fantasies?
As for forum roleplaying... that's a difficult question as I've not really done any serious ones. I've done some very goofy roleplays in the past and had a lot of fun with that, but they were mostly just for chuckles amongst those participating. Plot lines were minimal.
I've actually been wanting to try a serious roleplay so I can practice writing, but I can't really find any that interest me. It seems most are just interested in fifteen pages of the characters making out and rubbing against each other. That, or it won't really be a topic/style that interests me. But I'm really choosy about what I write (hence why I need practice... I have the desire, but I rarely come up with a plot that's good enough for my standards  ), so it's likely I'll never find the perfect RP.

SesshysMiko 09-14-2010 06:35 PM

I hate to say that I had to go on an RP hiatus and stop all the rps I had going :( But my favorite thing to rp is Inuyasha/Harry Potter if there's a good plot. I'd really love to try larping someday but I'd be so shy and embarrassed lol I don't like rping over IM, it's just annoying. I like having plenty of time to think without them going "(hey are you there? are you gonna post? blah blah blah)" -_- so when I do rp it's on a forum. I love romance and fantasy rps but I'd like to try horror someday to see if I'm any good at it lol

CADFND 09-15-2010 09:18 PM

@lostvampgurl - ^^ I certainly understand your point. You like serious, close-to-plot roleplays, and so do I. But I have to say, I like random ones as well, they make me laugh most of the time. ^^

@Cherry Flavored Antacid - Yeah, Fantasy RPGs are awesome *is a sucker for Final Fantasy*. o.o Yeah, now that I think about it, a lot of RPGs are fantasy, or have something to do with fantasy.
XD ah, that must've been fun, not having a plotline to stick to all the time. I mean, plots are good, >.> but there are times when you need to cut loose to laugh.
Really? What kind of genre are you looking for? :) Maybe I can help with that. I'm thinking about starting an RP at some point. And, I know how that feels. But it's more that I come up with a good idea, and then I get writer-blocked a little ways in. >.>

@SesshysMiko - Aww... :( I'm sorry! Um... 'Larping'? *is clueless* Yeah, I agree. >.> I don't like being rushed either. (I think being rushed makes me go slower somehow. I become a deer in headlights, I guess.)

SesshysMiko 09-17-2010 04:58 AM

No worries! I'll hopefully be able to start up again soon ;D Live-action role-playing. It's where you actually dress up and act like the characters in whatever story you're doing :3 Exactly! I do so much better when I have time to think everything through. :D

CADFND 09-22-2010 07:21 PM

@SesshysMiko - ^^ That's good! Oh! I do that kind of thing with my cousin! Well... Minus the dressing up. We DO design our characters though, just on paper. ^^

Kaiya-Cho 09-22-2010 08:18 PM

As long as I can read what they have writen and there is not too many paragraphs I'm ok with anyone. That goes for any website like mene too.

UsagiHeart826 09-23-2010 12:05 AM

The type of roleplays I like are: Classic fantasy ( Like princess and knight! *sigh* so romantic), futuristic fantasy ( Like final fantasy style), comedy, RPG, school, family, magical girl, clans.

Toris 09-23-2010 01:09 AM

The roleplays I gravitate toward depend on my current obsessions. My biggest obsession at the moment is Hetalia--oddly, though, the most active roleplay I currently have is of the Doctor Who variety. Not that I'm complaining. I love playing the Master, he's such a fun villain. ¦]

A good lot of the roleplays I partake in are fandom-based. Rockman Zero, Spy vs. Spy, Dungeon Keeper, oh, they tend to be a bit obscure... When I get the nudge to do something original it tends to involve high fantasy, Final Fantasy-esque settings, sometimes steampunk. I get bored of them easily, though, most of the time.

I'm not much for romance, though I do have a bit of a sweet tooth for cavity-causing fluff. I much prefer conflict, so I usually play on the villain-hero dynamic with my partners. I also have a taste for twisted things that I don't think I can divulge in here. :'D I think that I can say that I have a soft spot for gore, though.

Alsoo~ I prefer casual roleplays... Wherein I don't have to write a lot. I get bored if I'm expected to write over three medium-sized paragraphs unless it has to do with whatever my current obsession is. Even then, though... If I'm expected to write too much, I get linguistically clumsy and my posts wind up a chronologically messed up word salad. Ergck...

... I think I've rambled a bit. I: Hum.

Fahst 09-23-2010 07:11 AM

Fahst likes High fantasy with well-developed characters. Or Rping to develop characters.

Her stories end up with lots of conflict between characters and a plot usually involving a war of some sort.

Fahst also enjoys joke Rps. Where you be as random as you can in a funny way.

CADFND 09-24-2010 08:38 PM

@Kaiya-Cho - Ah, I see. ^^

@UsagiHeart826 - ^^ Cool! I like fantasy with a modern twist and FF/KH style.

@Toris - ^^ I don't mind the ramble! >.> I do the same thing. I vary from fandom to fandom quite often, and I leave some of my fan-fictions all but forgotten when I switch. Fluff is cute. ^^ Gore isn't really my thing, but to each his own. And, XD I know that feeling. When I write one thing for too long I often get clumsy with words. >.>

@Fahst - Ah, I agree! :D Those are very fun to play around with! >.> War isn't really my type, but to each his own. ^^ I imagine that Joke RPs are fun.

rawcookiedough 09-28-2010 12:22 AM

I've never actually role played before. I do have an interest in it though.
One of my "obsessions" is Harry Potter so I was thinking about finding a Harry Potter role play that wouldn't mind a total newbie like me joining. When I have time that is.
After reading some HP role plays I've found I like original character ones the most but don't mind one that mixes original characters with the books characters.

Miss Eevee 09-28-2010 03:07 AM

i really appreciate a good science-fiction/fantasy roleplay.
and post-apocolyptic or steampunk stuff is always welcome.

but what matters more than genre is the roleplay partner - if i have a good partner almost any genre is awesome. (:

MoodyBats 09-28-2010 03:09 AM

i like to do horror and tragedy and adventurous once that have you on the edge of your seat.I love onces with car accidents and drama too ^0^ i can't do school ones well unless i create some thrilling plot which doesn't happen often with me XD

Caterina 09-28-2010 03:44 AM

Magical boarding school roleplays are my one true weakness. There, I said it. ;A; I'm a sucker for romance, too, as long as it isn't, like, falling in love on page five and spending the rest of the roleplay in each other's arms because that is lame. I'm not even exaggerating, either - I've seen it happen.

CADFND 09-28-2010 05:05 PM

@rawcookiedough - Ah, I see. ^^ pure oc roleplays must be pretty interesting.

@Miss Eevee - ^^ Yeah, those certainly seem cool. I agree, RP partner/partners can make all the difference in RPs.

@TheDesireMistress - Those must be pretty intense, but probably pretty fun to write. ^^

@Caterina - Yeah, I have to agree. ^^ Magical boarding school's a classic, and I like it too. >.> Falling in love in one page IS pretty lame. I mean, there's no plot to that, is there?
