The best time to write

For you writers out there - What time is your best time to write? :) Mine's usually around 10:00pm-2:00am. ^^ Or usually when I listen to music. How about you? And if your best time is really late (like mine) are you usually awake at said time? Me, I'm usually awake for about half of my writing time. >.> *is forced to go to bed before prime writing time is over*

Polarisld33 10-06-2010 09:27 PM

Mine is usually in the evenings or, more commonly, anytime when I'm unable to sit and write (like at work or while driving). I've had some great writes late at night, though, but bedtime tends to interrupt me as well...

What kind of writing do you typicaly do? I like writing ghost stories and thriller/murder stories.

PWEEP 10-06-2010 09:58 PM

There is no good time for me. It's whenever my muse decides it would like to write. :XD It can be any time of the day. I've even awakened late at night because my muse wouldn't let me sleep so I could write something, even if it's just a paragraph. When I have the idea in my head, I simply cannot do anything else until it's written out.

Glitter Golgotha 10-06-2010 10:24 PM

Whenever I'm in the mood for writing and it's actually quiet in the house for once. I'm very easily distracted, so that's kind of rare. I did a little bit of random writing today, which is nice. It's been months since I wrote anything just because.

CADFND 10-06-2010 11:17 PM

@Polarisld33 - Ah, For me, it's when I'm supposed to be asleep. >.> As for what I write, I write primarily fantasy.

@|| P W E E P || - As much as that can be cool, it gets annoying at times, doesn't it? :sweat:

@Glitter Golgotha - Ah, ^^. It must be annoying when you know you want to write, yet you get distracted. Yes, random writing is good.

Oh yea, it does :XD My writing is centered on roleplaying with others, instead of writing a story by myself. I think it's harder, that way, to write by roleplaying because then you have to take account the other person's style as well as interaction between them. Maybe that's why my muse is weird :XD

Mostly at night. Sometimes I randomly have urges to write and that can be at any time of the day. For long writing sessions it's more likely to be 11pm on until like 6am.

lizzehlushh.xx 10-07-2010 09:47 AM

When I listen to music, or after watching a really inspiring movie. I just had that when I watched "Eat Pray Love" with Julia Roberts.
But if I had to list a time when I write most, it would be after it gets dark outside. I love working next to the fireplace :)

Kaizy-Kat 10-07-2010 04:21 PM

The best time to write for me is when I'm sleepy. So, I normally like to write around 9 - 11:30 PM.

Classical music works best for all purpose writing, but I'll mix up the music if I want to have a different feel.

CADFND 10-07-2010 10:46 PM

@|| P W E E P || - It may be harder, but that's a pretty cool style of writing. ^^

@Mystic - Ah, I see. ^^ I'm the same way.

@lizzehlushh.xx - Oooh! That must be a really nice environment to write in. ^^ a blend of warm and cool, the crackling of the fire... It must be a heavenly writing space at times.

@Kaizy-Kat - Ah, I see. ^^ Wow, a lot of people seem to be late-night writers.

Bearzy 10-08-2010 06:13 AM

Just whenever inspiration hits, which isn't as often as I would like. But often during school hours.

Laila Izuka 10-09-2010 04:53 AM

Night time, since it's the best time for me to relax. And there won't be much to bother me from typing something up, or just writing. But I do love listening to music when writing so it keeps me in the mood :3

CADFND 10-09-2010 08:41 PM

@carzeebear - Ah, school time. >.> It must be annoying when you get an idea right in the middle of a lesson, isn't it?

@Laila Izuka - ^^ I'm the same way.

Bearzy 10-09-2010 10:35 PM

It is, but at least in school I always have a pen and paper handy.

Xai 10-10-2010 12:52 AM

Actually, nowadays I write my stories during school hours. xD Usually during study hall or lunch. I haven't written anything at home for a long while (with the exception of my roleplays). But when I do write at home, I do it at night. There are few people awake which means it's easier to concentrate.

CADFND 10-18-2010 10:10 PM

@carzeebear - So did I. ^^ I always toted around my sketch/writing book around school in case of a random idea.

@Hybrid - I used to do the same thing... But I'm homeschooled now. :sweat: I try to write often, but I'm not always successful. Night is usually the best time for me to write too.

PrincessBane 10-18-2010 11:00 PM

For me, the best time to write is when I'm by myself at nighttime. Something about that time of day really starts my thinking process. That or when I'm in the middle of a heartbreak, like I am now, or something's bothering me. I have this uncanny ability to write some pretty amazing stuff when I'm upset. It kinda frustrates me because that flash of inspiration leaves once I'm okay. lol.

CADFND 10-19-2010 11:28 PM

@PrincessBane - ^^ Yay for nightwriters! I often write at night as well. And I'm sorry for that happening to you! The heartbreak, I mean. ;3; But that's interesting about the emotion-writing link.

ThatCrazyB!tch 10-20-2010 01:02 AM

i dont really have a writing time. before i used to write during class. or latre at night. now its when ever im bored and get som good ideas stirring in the ol noodle.

Amethyst Lavenlight 10-20-2010 02:55 AM

I tend to be by myself and free from schoolwork at nighttime, so that leaves more time for my mind to invent things and such. Ideas usually spring up when I'm feeling dead tired or while I'm trying to sleep, forcing me to get up and start writing so I can go back to sleep. @[email protected]

It's harder to spark my creative process during the day because I'm always busy with something, but even if I have freetime the ideas won't come. I usually have to watch something on TV or listen to music for a while to get started.

CADFND 10-27-2010 09:53 PM

@ThatCrazyB!tch - Ah, cool. :)

@Amethyst Lavenlight - Ah, I know how that is. :sweat: I often listen to music as well, but lately I've been music-starved. :sweat:

The Wandering Poet 10-27-2010 10:34 PM

Mine is usually while I'm TRYING to sleep XD I'll get a poem that pops into my head and I gotta either drop it or write it.

Ebil 10-27-2010 10:38 PM

I usually get story ideas either between dreams at night (which means I have to attempt to wake up enough to note down the basics) or first thing in the morning when I'm trying to wake up.
My dreams tend to inspire me, but also frustrate me. They force me to wake up and take notes or ignore them, and if I choose to ignore them and give in to sleep, I end up with that annoying feeling of knowing that I've forgotten something important, but not being able to figure out exactly what it is.

Dissociative_Dreamer 10-28-2010 10:46 AM

For me, prime writing time is cut into two sections. There's Prime RP Time, which is just about all the time. And then there's Selective Writing Time, which happens when a song inspires me (sometimes at random times)

royal randomness 10-28-2010 04:07 PM

the best time for me to write is either when it is quite around the hous, i am feeling kinda depressed or if i am listening to music
