So how was your...

First job interview?
I have mine today, I don't know what to do, how to dress and I am really stressed about it.
I don't really need the job, but it would be nice to make a few bucks to buy a cell phone and more clothes, no?

And the job looks really fun, it's in a costume (for Halloween) shop.

So yeah GD, how was your first job interview? Did you get the job? What was the job?

Cat Eye 10-09-2010 03:27 PM

I went.

We talked a bit.

It was for an IT job thing on campus. I didn't get it, but that was alright.

I still don't have a job though.

BTW it was (durr) an informal interview of course.

I've had a few interviews. I did some in high school to prepare me for the real thing (people from different business came and did mock interviews). And then I had one for Job Corps awhile ago, which was pretty stressful at first. But they you just realize it's just talking to another person about what you want to accomplish and things like that. And I dressed pretty formal for mine (I wore my dress from graduation, and a nice pair of shoes, though I didn't do much with my hair).

Codette 10-09-2010 05:53 PM

never had an interview. In high school I did casual work (under the table pay) for a friend of my aunts, sweeping floors and doing dishes.

Now my mom owns her own business with my sister and I'm their receptionist.

Mine went really well. (well I assume it did as I got the job) I was insanely nervous. They asked me if I wanted a drink, I said no because I thought it was a test or something like that. Even though I was really thirsty.

It was funny, because the person who was after me never showed up to their interview so they interviewed my brother who had never applied. And he got the job too.

Well my first ever job interview was a Walk-in Interview at Chic-Fil-A. I was only 14 and I don't know if I did that well lol. I didn't get the job.

My second ever job interview was for Hollister which is where I work now. That went very well. :] You'll know when you do good on a job interview. You can just feel it.

I haven't had to interview for a job for going on 9 years. I hate them though. So nerve wracking.

My first job was at a fast food place when I was young and resilient. I'd never ever do that again.

Yea, I hear it's a horrible experience.
My friend is adamant on not working at a fast food place or any other kind of restaurant when honestly, he doesn't have room to choose right now. He's so hard-headed.

I've only had two interviews in my life that I can recall. Neither went too well and I never got any job. :/

Xai 10-10-2010 12:47 AM

I was insanely nervous for my first job interview, but it went pretty well. I was asked questions and we talked a bit. The job was for a position at Papa Murphy's, but I didn't get it. However it was still worth going.

g0ldfish 10-10-2010 01:57 AM

Ugh, I had it...but yeah it wasn't really an interview since he didn't had the time to talk because he had to go! He still asked some things, and I was extremely nevous (like about to puke my life away). But yeah he gave me some papers to fill and told me to bring them back. And he said something about me starting on Tuesday! So I don't know if I have the job yet.

Moogle 10-10-2010 09:13 AM

If you're filling out papers and "starting" you probably did get the job. :]

arisa_anime 10-10-2010 12:39 PM

i have only been a temp

Michy Lea 10-11-2010 01:07 AM

I was so nervous. I didn't know how to answer any of his questions, but he was nice and understood that I was nervous and gave me the job. I'll always love Ron for that.

xRhii 10-11-2010 06:06 PM

I've never actually had a job interview, but I'm sure you'll be fine. I know it must be terribly nerve racking but just breathe and you'll be fine. Be honest and just answer in short yet descriptive answers. Dress neatly and have your resume or portfolio ready to go with you. Possibly have a few answers or things you'd like to highlight memorized to say if the interviewer asks. Good luck~!

ThatCrazyB!tch 10-11-2010 09:23 PM

mine was aweful. i wore dark make up, but for the int. i lightened it up abit.
i didnt know what to say. people said that the guy was a pervert, so maybe i
wasnt pretty enough. idk.
i was 16 at the time.
the second int i had was also horrible.
i didnt know what to say. and she asked me if i was depressed and shit it was more
like therapy. WTH kinda question was that? just to do outside work. again i had the
dark make up but still...idk...

Mine was at PetSmart and I was hired on the spot. XD Other job interviews I tend to play with my hands too much or it's not quite what I expected the job to be.

Polarisld33 10-11-2010 09:28 PM

My first interview was for a food services job and I was hired on the spot...getting hired on the spot doesn't happen like it used to, though. I think the most important part is to show an interest in both the position and the company and show an eagerness to learn and most places will be interested in you.

Job.

My first and so far only job interview was kind of not a real interview. In a way it was, I went and talked and answered questions but I was almost guaranteed the job anyway because my dad works there. I guess if I had really done terrible in the interview they would have said no, but I think I would have had to mess up really bad in that case. In other words, I really wasn't competing against anyone else for the job, I was the only one they interviewed for it. I'm so thankful that was the case. I have no idea how well I would do in an interview where the person hiring is a total stranger and I have no advantage. I'm terrified of it actually, and I really need a second job badly since I'm not making enough with this job, but I've kind of given up hope since my boyfriend has filled out numerous applications at various places and has never once even been given an interview. So I kind of don't feel like even putting any effort into it right now since I don't think anyone is actually hiring.

My first interview wasn't all too long ago. Not even a year ago... about seven or eight months ago.
It was at a small theater and it went really well. We got off topic a few times and talked about books and whatnot.
I got the job. I was a fair bit nervous. And my first day I was a nervous wreak.
But everything went well once I came to understand the basics of everyone's personality.
I was sad to leave but I had to because of family issues and a sudden move.
