i hate people!

seriously, people piss me off! just earlier this week, one of our neighbors was abandoning a 4 month old pit bull puppy because she said he was too nippy for her children. poor thing, just being left on the street like that! so, my husband and i took him in and bought food for him and stuff. then, yesterday, someone stole him from our back yard!! i mean, come on!!!! that's rediculous!! i wish we could've kept the puppy in the house, but he would have shredded the whole place! man, people really piss me off!

I had a dog stolen from my backyard as well. Sad thing is that a lot of times they're used to bait dogs for fighting. Either that or they are sold on Craigslist or something like that for money. I'd check that website to see if you see a for sale posting for the dog you lost. I would also contact animal control and police to see if they can help.

Glitter Golgotha 10-14-2010 08:13 PM

Congratulations; I hate people, too. :D So do my husband and my father, and I'm sure they're not the only ones I know who share the sentiment. People can just be so awful at times...

As for the dog, I would have called the SPCA or something of that nature the moment you saw that your neighbors were abandoning their dog. They can get in big trouble for something like that. Taking in the dog is a nice gesture, but you never know what kinds of problems you might encounter, so I'd be careful of things like that in the future. Anyway, I hope you manage to recover the dog. If someone has stolen it, then it can't be in a good place right now. Call police, check around, and send out alerts. Good luck.

that would piss the hell outa me

Manders 10-15-2010 12:05 AM

Yep, people suck and there's nothing you can do about it. Humans can be evil creatures that can do evil things.

ThatCrazyB!tch 10-15-2010 10:19 AM

yeh i can hate people too. some say ooh aliens probe you and this and that. yet we do the same thing to animals here
and even worst. force feeding monkeys pills and stuff, skinning animals alive.
and thats just animals. what we do to our own species, sometimes makes me ashamed to be called human/ "earthling"
oh well...just gotta make the best of things i guess...

That's so sad :( My fiance used to have a dog a long time ago when he was young and lived with his parents. It stayed outside a lot BUT it had awesome warm dry shelter and was HAPPY. The people who lived at the back of them would call out the dogs name to make it bark and then report it for noise :( they also climbed into the garden and freed it (back fench was a bush) and so it got out and they think it got hit by a car or something because it never came back and they couldn't find it. :(

BinkaKitty 10-20-2010 08:03 PM

my husband recently found out that he was stolen by the people that gave him to us. now that's even more rediculous! i mean, really, why pretty much abandon the poor thing, only to take him back when he's perfecly happy!? I mean, it would have been one thing if they'd asked about taking him back first, not just taking from our back yard!

PrincessBane 10-21-2010 11:20 PM

People make me angry about that too. My friend had told me a few months ago about a puppy this family abandoned. I went and saw her, she was underneath a broken down car. She came running up to us and immediately I could see she was highly emaciated and swollen with ticks, fleas and parasitic worms. I took her immediately and had her vetted. She became really attached to me and she still lives with me today. She's grown into a big, beautiful dog and if I hadn't come, she might've died.

SaetonChapelle 10-21-2010 11:26 PM

That is awful. I have people who just throw dogs away at my house and I always end up with them. xD 3 out of the 4 dogs I now have are ones donated because they just didn't want to take responsibilty. Correctly, 2 out of the 4. While babysitting for a co-worker the sibling of my dog (I didn't give her the pups, a friend breeds them and gave me one, and her one) was being horribly abused, so one day I just walked in and took her. Oo My little Baby girl.

You think the owners took the puppy back?

Sheogorath 10-21-2010 11:29 PM

I think these people have made their character clear. If you want the dog to prosper, it might be wise to watch him as much as you are able.

SaetonChapelle 10-21-2010 11:48 PM

I am sure they had little intent on having the dog napped on them. And people do have other things in their lives such as work, schooling, and the such. I am sure they attempted to watch it as much as possible. I am pro keeping your dog in the house, however I own my own home. I don't know if these people do or not. (Please keep in mind it is wise when raising to keep an animal INDOORS, but let it out for exercise and play. Outside does pose a danger to the animal being kidnapped or killed by another animal)

PrincessBane 10-22-2010 12:06 AM

Not to mention that dogs/cats that live outdoors have shorter lifespans than those who live indoors because they can get more diseases and such from things outside. Also, dogs are pack animals. They WANT to be with you, not secluded from you.

SaetonChapelle 10-22-2010 12:08 AM

Yeah. My friends cat acquired "cat aids", which I didn't even know they could GET, from being outside with other strays. Super upsetting.

PrincessBane 10-22-2010 12:10 AM

Indeed. I read in a vet magazine that cats who live outside live an average of 3-5 years in comparison to those who live inside, who can live up to 16 years of age.

SaetonChapelle 10-22-2010 12:17 AM

Wow, really? I had no idea. I would believe it though. I live in the Adirondacks (tons of woods and wild animals) and we see a ton of pet disappearances or deaths. I wouldn't doubt those numbers at all. I have no idea about the city though.

PrincessBane 10-22-2010 12:22 AM

Well yea. I mean...as aforementioned, they are more subjected to diseases than indoor cats. Not to mention the possibilities of beign run over, eaten, or just not being able to cope with the enviroment. Think about it, animals in the wild don't live THAT long and these are animals that are born and raised to survive. What chances do you think domesticated animals would have?

SaetonChapelle 10-22-2010 12:25 AM

I hate those who remove the claws of their animals, then expect them to be okay in an outdoor environment. No protection, no way of defense. Add this in with little shots and heavy traffic and you're done for. Oo Why do people wonder where their animals go?

"But they love me, they'll come back!"

I fully believe cats are only affectionate because you are their food source. xD Dogs on the other hand...

PrincessBane 10-22-2010 12:28 AM

Oh yes, I agree. That's one reason I love cats. They're so detached and aloof, so I won't be smothered with affection or expected to do alot. It's kinda like.."Yo." xD I would never let my cat get out. Ever. It happened once, she never came back. I'm still convinced she's still alive, killing things somewhere. It was like she had the spirit of a leopard inside of her. No lie. She was so feral, when she got out- there were no animals anywhere.

Dogs, however, love people. <3 Genuinely. I think part of it is the "pack" mentality. They see their owners as members of their pack and thus, they're loyal to them.

gummybug 10-22-2010 11:59 AM

My dog was nearly stolen! :0
My mum let him outside to run around a bit, and he is a big dog so you cant just pick him up and take him or anything
But these people came infront of our house, came INTO our front garden, but a lead on my dog and tryed to take him!! i mean omg?! wtf? D:
Luckly though my sister saw and got him back just in time 8D
Phew :P

PrincessBane 10-22-2010 11:55 PM

=/ That's ridiculous. Did your sister call the cops on them?

Cat Eye 10-23-2010 01:58 AM

Some people can't keep their pets inside.

Like me.

I live with my mother. She won't let animals live inside because they're a nuisance to her....even though I want to save the kittens when the cats next door give birth. They get sick, but mom wouldn't even let me keep the kitten inside for the night or anything. I am allowed to keep fish inside.

So I don't have pets.

And someone said call the SPCA, we don't have things like that in my area -not that what the OP said happened here- But animals are less valued in the area I live in. Most people do keep their pets outside unless they're small dogs. I don't even think most use those medications to prevent things. Most people around here probably don't have the money, but at least the animals don't end up on the streets to starve to death?

-had nothing to really do with anything in the OP- Sorry .-.

SaetonChapelle 10-23-2010 02:52 AM

Be weary of the SPCA my friend. They are good people, and do try to find the animals homes, but sadly they do not take well to older animals or those who were once abused. If an adult animal is given to them they have an average of 2 weeks before that animal is put down.

This is due to heavy breeding of animals. People adore to buy puppies and kitties rather than take in an older or abused pet, because they want to raise it as their own. Because of this the other animals get left behind. Due to food shortages and the amount of animals brought in everyday the SPCA just doesn't have the resources. Mass breeding also involves giving the baby animals to unknown people, for them to either abuse, abandon, or keeping them away from going to the actual pound and finding an animal of their own.

-Sources: Worked at the SPCA for about 6 months. Couldn't handle it anymore. Now keeps in contact with a local privately owned home who takes in every animal from dogs to hawks. Very awesome. :3

Mystic 10-23-2010 03:59 AM

I used to work at animal control in a big city and it was insane how many animals had to be put down soon after they came in. A lot of them had dog fighting wounds or gun shot wounds. It was sad and the only thing that kept me working there the fact that I would take animals that they would have otherwise killed and found them good homes such as mommy cats and newborn kittens and "older" cats. It's really pathetic that people only want kittens or puppies in my opinion when so many older animals die.

I had one lady call up to the pet store I used to work at and ask if we sold cats and dogs. I said no and told her to look at a shelter and her reply was "I don't want to adopt because I need to bond with the animal and touch it. You know what I mean?" and I replied "No, I don't since there are plenty of kittens and puppies in shelters with nothing wrong with them.". I think a lot of it are that people are uneducated about where pets in stores actually come from and what abuse they go through before coming to the store. Some of it is also all those old myths about shelter pets having something "wrong" with them, which is something I never understood since my pets are all rescues.

I rescued a puppy mill puppy last summer and when I got her she was sick and had a lot of breathing problems and her leg was messed up. Her first vet bill was nearly $800 and her second one, which was only two weeks later, was another $500. She's healthy now but I've easily put over 1K into getting her well enough where she is not struggling to breathe or walk. I just don't understand why anyone would think it's okay to raise dogs in a puppy mill environment or any other environment where they are not well cared for.

SaetonChapelle 10-23-2010 04:07 AM

Many times animals in pet stores and the such are from caged breeding, which I find awful, so they already have a strange upbringing which tends to lead to more violent and aggressive behavior.

I fully believe in stopping the huge amount of breeding and to purchase from shelters. I used to breed mastiffs until I realized what it was doing to the other animals (And of course I couldn't sell em, I wanted them alls, and did. xD)

I am not blaming the shelters and places such as SPCA. Sadly, as much as I hate how they put them down, there is little they can do. There just isn't the funding and the resources available. So please, if you need to get rid of your animal, try to find the time to do it yourself and to find them a GOOD home, not just give them to anyone who asks. Make sure to do your research on the individual, and find out everything you can. People tend to mistreat animals just because they believe they are just that, animals. No, they are members of your family, and feel the same type of pain as you~
