I started with Oracle cards about five years ago. My first of those was Doreen Virtures Unicorn deck. They're very good. A couple years ago i got an Animal Messengers deck, which i love doing more complex spreads with. The energy comes through well for me when i use them.
It was a while before i got any proper tarot cards, but about two years ago i invested in an Anchient Egyptian deck, with a lot of gold lefing and intricate drawings. They're very pretty. I've always been very connected to them, to the point where i can feel what the cards are saying even if somebody else is just leafing through the deck across the room.
I can't 'hear' properly yet, but feeling the cards and the energy they bring though, i can make pretty accurate readings for people.
My one issue with tarot is the way people claim to be able to 'learn' it in a few days. Yes, i think you can read cards and some innate skill will come through, but i don't think it's just enough to know what each card in each position of a spread means. That to me, isn't really reading the cards.
