Haunted Houses
First, I want to say I LOVE Halloween, ghost stories, the paranormal, and movies about hauntings. So I went to a haunted house last night to get into the Halloween spirit (and because I haven't been to one since I was little) and while I did get spooked I was a bit disappointed.
I was more worried about bumping into an actor through most of it than I was scared (ok save for the guy running with a chainsaw...). The little shrieks I let out were cause it was too dark for me to see if I was walking into a wall, a person, or just through the maze. The more I think about it, the less impressed I am with the house actually so I was wondering who here has been to a haunted house? Were you actually scared or did it just seem blah? Was there anything that just freaked you out so much you had trouble sleeping? (if so, where did you go?? :shock:) |
....I have a haunted house, but not one of those cheesy fake ones.
I've seen a little girl ghost in my kitchen. I've never been to a haunted house in the way you mean it, but there is one I wanna check out, but it is 10 dollars per person, so I probably won't get to go. |
I've been to a few; I love them. I don't particularly like the ones where it's too dark, though. :c Kinda takes the fun out of things when you're too busy trying to watch where you're going to actually pay attention to the decorations and stuff.

I will never say I've been to a "haunted house", or have seen ghosts and the like, for I don't believe I have. That is not to say I don't believe highly in the paranormal. The home my father used to reside in always places an odd feeling in my chest. I used to hate entering it, and yet I still am unsure if such a force was a negative or positive one. I never saw anything there, never felt largely threatened, but even as a small child I didn't enjoy entering or being left alone in a room. Especially one of the upstairs bedrooms, I would cry upon entering. No reason for it however. I remember my father always telling me he felt strange in the house as well, although he never felt it to be an evil force. We even had a gentlemen who refused to enter the home. I have felt this way about other peoples homes. I wont enter my cousins basement (one of those live ins, has a couch and tv and bedroom, very pretty) alone, and sometimes feel as if the gentlemen who had passed away recently within my home (I think he was a grandfather, but was never informed for sure. I was living with him at the time of his passage in the back room) is around me. He keeps stealing my socks I believe. /sigh |
My grandpa's and my mom's houses are haunted. My grandpa's house in one part of it actually creeps me out quite a bit. It's like you can feel someone watching you.
As for holiday themed houses, I don't go to them any more. Last time I was in one that I didn't work at I got punched and the time before that I fell down a ramp, so I tend to avoid them. |
@Glitter Golgotha
That was exactly the problem, I bumped into the person in front of me a few times and tripped over a ramp...that just took away from the experience. @Mystic Wait, you got punched?! I can understand not wanting to go back to one. |
There are cheap and poorly-constructed ones everywhere; I typically just avoid them. They'll have bad lighting and very little atmosphere. The acting is usually minimal and unenthusiastic... and not a single convincing prop to be seen. If I'm going to pay to get into a haunted attraction, I'm going to pay for a good one with some level of professionalism. :B

I REALLY want to visit an actual haunted house! I've never even been inside a fake one hahaha. Paranormal stuff fascinates me. And I love how a bunch of the paranormal documentaries and horror movies show around Halloween.

I went to one last weekend. There were a couple of spots that really freaked me the crap out, but not much. My sister was in a bit of a hurry to get out, and as she was leading the group... it didn't last as long as it should have. Haha.
