The evilest invention created, well they are for me at least:)
Personally my final exams begin tommorow and I feel that I am not ready for them no matter how much I study for them. I'm also insationably lazy and cannot get myself motivated, never a good thing when exams or tests pop up.
So GD how do you prepare for exams?
Is it exam time where you are?
and do you also suffer from procrastination or a lack of motivation? if so how do you get yourself motivated again?

I just did my final exam yesterday. My other class didn't require one--it was a report instead. But yeah, they suck. I especially hate that it's computer-based these days, so when you're one decimal off it's completely wrong whereas if a teacher read it and saw you omitted the 4th decimal you'd still get credit for it ~.~
I don't really study... at all... I just don't feel the need to... and I don't personally think it helps...

My preparation for exams varied by class but usually involved a lot of studying. Even when I knew I had everything in my head, which was usually several days before an exam, I'd keep at it just because it made me feel less anxious since I was doing something, y'know? In college I was more lackadaisical about studying than in law school. For law school, I'd be sitting and reading over my class outlines every day for a month before exams. In law school though the only grades we got for classes were from final exams, so the whole thing was hinged on that one test. Soooo it was quite nerve-wracking and studying so much actually calmed me down about it a lot.
Luckily, I've been out of school two years now, so no more exams for me! Trust me, that is a GREAT feeling.

I never studied for exams. Never thought it would help me, and I kinda proved everyone who doubted that wrong when I passed(practically acing) my Math final in Grade 12. Having the exam worth 50% of the mark(since it was diploma level), and the class work worth 50% of the mark, I definatly aced it since I went in the exam with a 33% class mark(so half that is 16.5%) and then coming out, and having a 58% on the report card. Oh, and the reason I got that 33% class mark is because all I did was show up, and do nothing else in class...which I dont recomend, teachers tend to hate you if you do that.

I am actually about to take one now. I won't say what, but I'm mad nervous, as usual. I freak during tests, and then I forget everything even if I had previously known it. Rawr. >< I have found most studying to be useless due to this xD

Well, I did have a midterm like a week or so ago, but that's about it. Our final exams are within the first couple weeks of December~ :B so I've got a little while. Either way, I hardly ever study for... well, anything. I've never been one to study, but then again I have a photographic and auditory memory, so if I see or hear something, I'll remember it. I can never pay attention if I try to study (usually because all my friends are and I try to as well) because I realize I already know all the material. Granted, it's always good to freshen it in my mind, but it's not like I hadn't seen the information before.
I usually just go into an exam, take it, and leave, usually freaking out about it only after I completed it. I always feel like I did terrible on it, and then I get it back and I have a pretty high grade :P so then I feel much better. But yeah, the closest thing to studying I'll do is glance through a couple pages of my notes, usually right as the teacher is handing out the test~ >w>;
As for lack of motivation and procrastination, I suffer from both. I get sidetracked easily, like coming on here and chatting/roleplaying or making AMVs or watching anime, and then I'd rather do that than my work so I usually wait til the last minute to do anything. I manage to still get it done though, and I actually think I do better when I'm rushing! Like, if I have an essay due in a week, and I work on it periodically throughout the week and give myself plenty of time and all that, then I usually get a sucky grade. It's the essays that I'm quickly typing up and printing just before running to class that I end up getting a perfect score on :P I dunno, I think I like the pressure better, because then I have a suddenly strong motivation to get everything done.

Rooh: yeah I don't really study at all either, I get distracted way too easily and then when its time for exams I stress and sometimes forget things anyway lol.
KidK: thats true, I never feel that I study enough, even when I stop being lazy and actually study lol. You just have to be careful not to over study, an information overload is never good.
Draci: wow thats lucky lol, pity the marking system doesn't work that way over here.
<--works in class, however does nothing at home, can't concentrate on school work at home for some reason.
Saeton: yep the same thing happens to me, damn stress.
And awesome, congrats on passing your drivers test:)
<---still has to get my probationary licence, I have my learners licence but I need to get my hours of practice before I go for my P's lol.
Aeryth: lol okay, I have mine in October, in fact I had one today and I have another tomorrow, plus a few more over the next few weeks, sucks.
Yeah my computer is what normally distracts me the most lol. Yep pressure is definitely a motivational force, not neccersarily a good one though:lol:

I haven't taken exams for a while, but I've never really studied. I would read over the notes a couple of times, maybe, but that was about it. I guess you could say I "studied" for Oklahoma History, but that's only because I never read the book during the class; it was online, and before every test, the professor would put up a list of vocab & possible essay questions, so I'd answer those the day before the test to get myself ready. I'm the kind of student a lot of teachers hate... because I don't try very hard, but they never get the satisfaction of failing me. XD

I never really bothered too much when it came to exams when I was at school and university.
I guess I was lucky, but my method of study was just to write down exactly what the lecturers/teachers said word for word, and so long as I did that, I never had to look at it again, as it would somehow stick in my brain.
If I didn't write stuff down, or missed a class, then I was pretty much screwed on whatever they'd taught that day. I couldn't just look at someone elses notes and remember from that.
I was always slightly confused when I was waiting with a herd of people outside of an exam room and they were all frantically re-reading notes at the last minute, that kind of thing never would have done anything to help me.

Happy I don't have to take them anymore -- when I was an undergrad, I missed an exam (right day and place, wrong time) -- they let me write it -- but what an ordeal!
