So I've recently had my hair cut, and I was in the shower today. I instinctively reached toward my shoulder, then stopped when I realized nothing was there and wondered what I was reaching for--and then it dawned on me: I'd been reaching for my hair so that I could flip it over my shoulder like I always do. It had always come so naturally, I didn't even realize I was doing it.
That got me thinking about the other little things I'm so used to that I don't quite feel right without. Whenever my glasses are off for any reason, I still reach up to adjust them (which makes me wonder if it's really necessary when they're on, since it's become such a common habit that apparently doesn't need a trigger). Whenever a room that's been messy for a while is cleaned, it actually bothers me--even though I can't stand messy rooms--because it feels like something is missing. When I go to someone else's house, I tend to look for things in the places that they are in my house, even if I know that's not where they are.
Are there any little things you do without realizing, or that you've gotten used to to the point that they seem natural to you? Or do you acknowledge changes and adjust quickly?

Oooh, I recently chopped my longer-than-shoulder-length hair off to a little past my ears and I keep trying to flip my hair over to wrap in a towel after showering and just feel silly. xD
I've also tried to adjust glasses that weren't there. Haha.

I've done a lot of those things you do, except the house thing...That's pretty weird no offense. I mean, if the house layouts or looks were similar, I could see it, but they usually aren't. XD;;
I can't really think of anything else, actually. That's pretty much it, the glasses and the fiddling with my hair.

monstahh i feel like i'm stalking you xD
but anyway, i feel that way about a lot of stuff  i hate change. like when my sister started going to college, i was so used to seeing her in the cafeteria at school that i was really depressed for a while that she got older, which triggered a few more meltdown depressions.
when people around me change their hair color i usually don't like it until i've seen it for a while, when we move things around in our house i hate it... it knocks the whole feeling of the room off balance for me; and sometimes i go to wipe off the counter a few seconds after i cleaned the kitchen, just because my mom stresses that the house be clean at all times in case somebody shows up or some other cracked up thing.
this IS on topic right?

I know my grandma recently started dying her hair a darker color, but I still always imagine her blond. It's hard to get out of the habit of things that have "always been that way", though I am generally pretty adaptable, even if I don't like the change. If something suddenly comes in and disrupts my schedule/plans, though, that's a different story...

I definitely do the glasses thing. Its pretty funny.
I recently cut my hair too. It was only to my shoulder, and now it is sort of a pixie cut. Changes are weird. I have to get used a bit less shampoo.

I have future plans of shaving part of my head... Not sure when, but one of these days. I can only imagine how I'll feel then. XD

Ha, That would feel weird. At least the win wouldn't mess up your hair.
That would take a lot of getting used to...

It would... I'm still afraid to even cut my hair really short, though, so it may be a while. > o> I'd prefer to lose a bit of weight first, so I'm glad I'm going to be talking to my doctor today.

I do hate change at times, just because it irritates me for awhile that things are different.
Also that happens to me whenever I get my hair cut quite short. When I got my hair cut to something completely different in the summer, it took awhile to get used to. My hair used to be longer in the back, and shorter in the front. Now it's the other way around (it's kinda like my avatar on here, but you can't really see because of the items in the way '^-^). But now I'm used to that.
Whenever things in the house get changed, I get pretty irritated. I'm still getting used to the fact that one of the cabinet things and the trash compactor got flipped around. So I keep going to the cabinet to throw trash away. I make circles around the kitchen because of it DX
I also adjust my glasses at times, even though they aren't on my face. I just have reading glasses that I wear whenever I'm on the computer, or just reading a book. Though even if I'm not doing any of those things, I'll still try to adjust my glasses with my middle finger XD. Sometimes I forget to wear them when I'm supposed to, and do that as well -3-
Also I'm going to be leaving to Job Corps real soon, so it's going to irritate me about how things are going to be. It's going to probably take me a week or so to finally get used to how things will be e.o

I spin my lip ring when I'm just sitting around doing nothing or trying to focus on something. I never notice I'm doing it but other people do. My friends comment on it and make fun of me, haha.
I also flip my hair whenever I feel like there's something in my hair. I recently got a haircut as well, so I don't have any hair on my face, but I still do it whenever something touches my face.

Recently there's only a couple of things that I have noticed I do. One is I (also) got a haircut, but I added bangs so I'm not used to it. So I always flip my head to the side a little to get the bangs out of my eyes, then realize that it's the new hair I wanted so I put it back XD
Then the other thing I do is drift off when someone is talking. Like I'll be listening and even if I'm interested I'll start thinking of something random, like a new idea for a character I want to create. My best friend always catches me doing it, so she's used to it.
