Friday, I had an operation. I've finally healed enough from the operation to start eating more solid foods. I made my favorite pasta dish for supper last night for my family to enjoy. I had only one serving, hoping to have some left over for lunch today... But nope, my family ate all of it. :( They all had multiple servings, and I asked them to leave enough for me, but they didn't.

I know, it sounds selfish, but as my diet in the last five days has been liquids, and cold soft foods (cottage cheese, apple sauce, etc.), I was REALLY looking forward to having pasta for my lunch. :(

Has anyone ever had this problem of family eating your food?

My dad will eat anything that's left over. Usually for breakfast. Makes me feel kind of sick, as he'll even get cold mashed potato out of the fridge and eat it on toast in the morning D=
I've pretty much learnt over time that living here, if you want anything, eat it when you see it, or you may never see it again, even if it's something you've bought for yourself and used a thick black marker to write "DO NOT TOUCH!" on it.
The only thing that really annoys me is Chocolate in this house. I like my Chocolate cold, so I leave it in the fridge, and it vanishes before it's cold enough to eat! Grrrr...

All my life, I've had to learn that if you leave your food alone for even a second, you will not get a chance to finish it. I think that's part of why I hate eating around other people and refuse to leave my food until I'm done with it--and keep it close to me if I happen to be with someone else. :P So yes.

I'm surprised your family is still living. My family has done that to me on a number of occasion when I used to live there. The most memorable was when I bought all the groceries spent hours making dinner (I made rouladen and Spaetzle) and by the end of it I wasn't hungry whatseover (I'm sure that has happened to many of you) and I asked them to leave me some for later that day while I went out. I came home nothing was there and then my mom was mad because I left dishes there.

I flipped out like crazy, screaming everything. Honestly it isn't even about the food in the end - its the lack of consideration. If I was in your position and had gone through what you did I probably would've been screaming or crying.

Something like that just happened. I wanted Oreos, but i was worried my brother would eat them all, so i bought his favorite cookies as well. It's only been a day and now the Oreos are gone and his are almost gone.
He didn't even finish his. He does that all the time with brownies and stuff too.

In my case I have learnt to eat as fast as I can because time and time again my oldest brother would finish his huge serving of food and the look at me and start eating off my plate and no matter how much I complained he never stops >.> Food doesn't last longer than a day in a house with 3 men

That sucks Cora, that was really cruel of them.

My family doesn't do that often, but I don't cook much, and I haven't been staying at their house much for like a year (I'm there now, but, I'm also cooking a meal at a time, mostly in the form of mac and cheese or a sandwhich).

At home, me and my boyfriend usually share all our meals, and there's next to never any food left over by the end of the night. Leftovers don't happen when you don't have a fridge to put them in.

Gah, I hate when that happens >.<, and yeah, I agree with aphrodite remix. I hate how inconsiderate people can be about it. They act like they are never going to get something like that again, and they eat it right away. What I really hate is - whenever we have cereal, and it's gone within a day or so. A few boxes of cereal should NOT be gone within just a few days. But my brother and step brother insist on having it in the middle of the day, or late at night. IT'S BREAKFAST FOOD AND SHOULD BE EATEN AT THAT TIME!

Though I've learned that if you want something at a later time, you've gotta be creative about how you put away the food. Usually my family doesn't check the very back of the fridge for something. And if I want something saved, I'll shove it way in the back so I know that it will probably be there. Also if you buy something for yourself, that you should keep whatever you bought in your room if you can.

I was really surprised when I came home from visiting my mom. I just recently celebrated my 21st b-day, and when I was coming home, I was NOT expecting there to be at least one more Smirnoff Ice left in the fridge. I would of thought that my step brother would of drank them all (there were two left when I left, but there was just one left for me). I was totally surprised, so I suppose that my family can't be completely selfish -3-

Oh Lord m yboyfriend does this all the time, I will make something go to work and when I come back everthing is gone, it drives me insane.
Or when we go out to eat and we both bring back food, he will eat his then mine...Sometimes I think hte's doing it just to be rude since he knows I don't appreciate it.
And when he is hungry and there isn't anything for him to steal he will start to whine and whine and whine about me not ever making food or buying food, even though I do all the time.

I think that one day I just might go insane.

My dad does this all the time. Every now and then my work will buy pizza for the employees. I also eat before I go in, so I bring it home to have for lunch the next day. I'll have it wrapped up in the microwave and my dad will just come and eat it! It's just, "When did I say that was yours?" How rude. >.<
