Nails are one of the first things I notice about someone, and I'm obsessed with mine. It's a definite deal breaker if someone has jagged or dirty nails, or those obnoxiously long fake nails.

Are you good about cleaning your nails?

My nails are usually a bit long, filed to be round, and when I paint them I just do a clear coat or a french manicure. People always ask me why it takes so long to wash my hands, and part of that is having OCD and just scrubbing away at my hands, but most of the reason it takes so long is because I scrub under all my nails to make sure they're clean. I do that even when they're very short!

I like to have mine a bit long, but not too long. Just past my fingertip usually. I file them and generally keep them clean and neat, but I don't paint them. Unless you count a thin layer of strengthener now and then. I don't paint any colors on them, but I do have some nail polish just in case I decide to.

I'd like to practice with designs. Like painting with a toothpick, so I can get little pictures on my nails for special occasions.

I'd like it if they were long... but they break whenever I try. And I'm a terrible nail-biter. I chew them without thinking and then it annoys the frell out of me that they're jagged, so I chew them more to even them out. x.x I keep a nail file next to my bed.

And yes, I like to keep them clean. I hate it when there's gunk under them.

No nail polish usually. Too much of a pain. It always chips at the end after about a day and then it doesn't look good and nail polish remover makes the nails a kind of yellowish color. Not worth it.

I stopped biting my nails before I went into high school because I thought I'd get picked on or generally looked down upon if people thought I did it. I always knew it was a dirty habit, I just couldn't help myself >w< So one day I put hot sauce under my nails and it grossed me out from ever doing it again.

I let my nails grow out pretty long, and I file them round (I hate square filed nails), and I really like french manicures too. But I like it if someone else does a french mani/pedi for me at the nail salon, they do a better job than me. I also like fun colors. My favorites are metallic neon blue and purple. I generally keep my nails clean, but I don't do a major washing-job unless I did something messy (like eat finger foods).

I HATE it when my nails break though, especially if it's just one fingernail. It takes me months to grow mine out to my ideal length, so it depresses me when they break off. I also hate it when they start to crack at the sides because you know they're going to break off soon.

The worst experience I've ever had with nails is when a few of mine broke off right before an anime con and I didn't want to go with uneven nails. So I went to a nail salon, and they put on those fake acryllic nails :( They took /forever/ to come off and you could tell which ones were fake from my real ones because they were square-filed and not rounded like the others.

My nails grow perfectly, where I don't need a manicure. :)
I thank my genes from my Dad, he has the same nails.

I've been using french pink, and translucent like colors that sparkle. I've been liking pink a lot more lately more than I have in my teenage years. How weird, must have been a phase. :P

I keep my fingernails short and unpolished (they grow too fast and polish chips way too easy to be practical to me, although I will get them done for special occasions.) On my toes I keep a French pedicure usually or some red or pink color. I prefer squarish nails over round.

Mine are short. But I do get them done like twice a year

I used to bite my nails all the time when I was younger. Though I broke that habit quite some time ago. But I love my nails nice and long. I've grown them out pretty damn long right now. Ya know the pink part on your nails??? Yeah, about that long XD. And people who talk to me see my nails and get a little freaked out. But most of the time they think that they are fake. Which they absolutely are NOT -3-. And I used to paint them black. Though the black paint made my nails look really weird. Not to mention I draw, and brush the eraser shavings off using the top part of my hand. So the paint would make lines across the page.

I absolutely HATE when they break. Usually right when all my nails get to the length that I want them, they start to chip somehow. I lost the nail on my right thumb (not all of it, just the white part), and it tore right off when I got outta the car carrying some stuff. It hurt like a son of a bitch when that happened. And the time before that my other thumb nail just snapped off e.o, not fun.

For other people, I don't care how they have their nails as long as they are fairly clean. I like to keep mine clean because it just bothers me if they aren't. I don't file them because when they are all shiny and smooth on the tops, it really bothers me. I keep my nails pretty short as I play the violin and viola and you need short nails to be able to play it properly. My nails are really soft so it is really easy to clean them and keep them nice and short, and even if they do break, I don't get ragged edges and all they need is a little rubbing to be smooth again because they are so soft :3

I love the look after I get manicures, but I hate hate hate spending that much money on something that doesn't last long at all, so I usually decide that I can do a good enough job to not spend all my money on someone else painting my nails for me. This goes double for pedicures.

My wallet cries in the corner when I think about manicures and pedicures. My mum offers to pay, but I feel bad, so I still decline and we all cry together.

I realize that the majority of people who post here will be females, but I'm going to post anyhow. I keep my nails fairly short out of habit because from elementary school through high school I played piano and if my nails were not trimmed my piano teacher would have an absolute fit, so its just a habit. I do not like having dirty nails, so yes, when I wash my hands I make sure the dirt is out of my nails.

I cut my nails when they start to annoy me or it gets too bothersome to clean them.
