I LEARNED SOMETHING TODAY.
That's not the amazing thing, though. Have you ever wondered what those three different levels of clasps on bras are for?
Well, according to Keyori's Special Bra Consultant, they actually have a purpose, and a rather novel one at that.

I've had bras wear out on me, and I never knew that you could actually do something like this. I thought the different levels of clasps were just for adjusting to suit your comfort! AN UNEDUCATED FOOL I WAS.
Hope this helped you all out as much as it helped me. :D

ANYWHO. Yes, I too was a fool and thought it was something just for comfort's sake. Apparently I wear my bras WAY too lose, as when I got fitted, my band size was too big AND I was wearing the bra at the largest clasp setting (and most of my bras were several years old, meaning they had REALLY stretched out).
I can take my bra off from underneath my shirt as long as it's not a knit sweater where something can snag, or a long-sleeved shirt (actually, I can even do it out from under several of the long-sleeved shirts I own, but it's much more difficult if the shirt isn't very stretchy).
My husband can usually one-hand the clasp off, if it's a two-hook bra. Unfortunately mine are all three-hook now, so he has a lot more trouble and will fumble on occasion.
I also have a front-clasp sport bra with 11 HOOKS. It's a beast. So hard for me to get on an off, but kheez, my ladies don't go ANYWHERE when I'm wearing it. AMAZING. Though, I've never owned a sport bra before, largely because I don't do athletic type things, but I'll have physical training three times a week starting the week after next, so I figured I'd invest in one.

Well, this is an interesting topic... bras XD
I also thought those clasps were for comfort reasons and to add some leeway if you gained/ lost any weight during the lifespan of the bra.
I can take off mine from under my shirt but it is easy because I only wear sports bras which I can slip over my head or have a bunch of clasps on the front that make it easy. I have never had, nor do I currently own a regular bra, I am too embarrassed to get measured and from my point of view I like to keep em tight XD not make them look bigger and whatnot.

If you have tailor's measuring tape, you can easily size yourself. There's lots of tutorials online about how to do it, and it's not very difficult to figure out. My problem was just that I wasn't holding the tape tight enough, so that's how my band size was too small.

I usually have my bras on the tightest hook all the time because I'm small (or used to be. not so much anymore.) and I don't get good support if it's not as tight as it can go, it's just kind of hanging there. I'm partial to sports bras anyways.

After I read the first post in this thread, I quickly readjusted my bra and realized that it is all true.

Well, you learn something new every day!
I can take my bra off under almost anything, it really freaks some of my friends out when I do it though.

T_T I'm an uneducated fool about bras, so....the post still confuses me alittle. I currently don't have any because none of the ones I have fit me, so I learned, or are broken. I don't know how to go about buying bras....and I have this strange..back roll..I was told comes from wearing a bra that's too tight. Is that true? Can something like that be possible? How does one go about shopping for bras..?

Oh... I feel dumb now. Haha. I was told all my life it was to adjust for comfort. But now knowing what you told me would make more sense. There is now peace in the universe! :3

I don't find they affect anything. - Tis sound logic though. Ahha
Than again, these beasts of mine can't be contained in any bra[Aka, bras never fit me right...trust me, I've tried many different sizes and types] xD!

Yeah, I knew that.
It'd be awesome if I actually got to use it though like that.
Unfortunately, I have to wear underwire bras, the underwire usually breaks through the fabric before I can get to use the tighter clasps. :|

Say what? o_O I didn't know about this, and I'm a girl too! One of these days I need to get a new bra that actually fits, mine is too small and loose... if that makes any sense at all, haha. It's so hard to find one that actually fits!

Yeah, I figured a lot of people would think they were just for comfort, too! Which is why I decided to post this topic. The masses need to be educated on this very practical topic. =3
PrincessBane: I found an excellent guide with pictures a while ago on common fitting probblems with bras and how to fix them. I hope it can help you too. =D
To all you ladies saying that bras never fit you, I would recommend trying different styles. For example, the bog-standard type of bra you can buy off racks with the big, high cups and all never fit me because the area of chest above my breasts is hollow. I read somewhere that this problem could be solved by wearing balconette bras, so I tried one, and they're all I've ever needed since! ^^
There are lots of different styles and options out there, you just need to make an educated choice and be willing to try new things. ;)

I didn't know that either... hmmm... I've always just worn it as tight as possible...
I can take my bra off without taking off clothes... I taught myself to do it in High School. I would get tired of wearing a bra, so when my brother picked me up after school I'd take my bra off in the car without removing clothes. I can also undo both my normal and my front clasp bras with one hand.
I have the same issue as you Lorika. My actual chest (area above breasts) is just slightly rounded, and then my breast slowly slope up, so high-cup bras are a pain.

I originally thought it was for 'growing into' but I think the actual purpose makes more sense. Obviously, because thats the real purpose....-facepalm-

That's what those are for??? XD, I didn't know that you were supposed to tighten them ever three months =O, usually I just snap my bra to however it fits me without the strings of it falling down -3-. Though I am able to take my bra off without removing my top, it's quite easy :3. Used to do it all the time XD (at home of course, it would be awkward doing that in public).
I also hate wearing wire bras for too long. They leave painful marks on my chest D:, so I always shop for the ones that don't have the wire in them. Because those ones are a LOT more comfortable -3-

I never learned how to take my bra off without taking my shirt off. I hardly ever take a bra or wrap off anyways, hahaha. I just take them off to shower.

I actually sleep in my bras too a lot of the time. Ever since I started wearing proper bras that fit me I've just felt way more comfortable in them than out of them. The feeling of support is just the best.

I like for my ladies to be free after 10pm. Also, sometimes I like to wear the same bra two days in a row, so at the very least I need to let the elastic rest overnight.

For some reason I've never been comfortable naked, particularly without a bra or underwear on, so even when I'm alone it feels so strange to not be wearing a bra. Besides that, I don't normally find them too uncomfortable unless they're too tight. I loosen them up for bed time.
