Foods stuffs you don't normally eat every day

Like the title, foods you don't eat on a normal bases. Like rich foods, foods to eat on a special occasion. Or to just spurge one day on it.

Just today, I just got me some See's Candy!
Chocolate butter cream, it's only one. It's that rich, if you eat too much of it, (like a whole box), you'd get sick. But it's so good, one's enough to send me to heaven!

So, are there any foods you eat on special occasions?
Have you had any See's candy? I recommend it it's good. *noms* =3

Never had any See's candy, but now and then I like to treat myself to chocolate covered cherries. ONLY Queen Anne though, those are the best cherries I've ever had.

I think everyone has special foods they eat during holidays life: >Lefse< and Eggnog. Those are around here during Christmas.

I don't know what See's Candy is (or are). ): It probably doesn't exist where I live.

Anyway, for foods only eaten on special occasions... Well, sometimes, my mother brings home a pack of these. I quite frankly ignore how they're called outside of my country, so forgive my ignorance. You can tell they have a creamy substance covered in a thin layer of chocolate. I'd quite like to know the english/american name for these, so please tell me if you know!

Also this. These babies are fresh from the north of Portugal, a specialty, they are. The cream is made with eggs, but it tastes ever so sweet, and it's covered in a thin layer of wafer. The cream is unbelievably sweet, but the wafer cuts off some of the sweetness, so there's none of that "it's too sweet" talk. :D I'm drooling already!

Oh, also Ferrero Rocher, they're so expensive we can only buy them around Christmas to offer the family.

Here in the UK we call them teacakes. I really like them, but I try to limit how much I buy them as I always eat the entire packet as much as I try not to!

As for me I really like lemon sponge cakes and chocolate pudding, I tend only to eat them when I'm feeling a bit down in the dumps. Rich foods cheer me up. I couldn't eat them on a regular basis though.

Those kind of look like Whippets ^-^

My favorite is having prime rib and lobster tails on Christmas Eve. I think that's the only time of the year when I get to have it. It's delicious to me.

I like Nutella, but I don't always buy it because I know I would eat the whole jar, and then I might get zits and/or cavities.

Another rare-to-indulge in treat is eggnog.

I adore rich deserts like Tiramisu or a really good Trifle. Well, I like rich foods in general, lol. Some more of my favorite European treats are Cherries Jubilee, Pfeffernüsse (A spiced cookie-like pastry), Prinzregententorte (a Bavarian sponge-cake), Ovos Moles (the seashell-shaped treats NeuzaKC mentioned), and Lokum (also known as Turkish Delight).

Most of these are expensive here in the US, if you can even find them. Above all though, I love Daifuku(which fortunately for me has become popular in the US and is fairly inexpensive), Taiyaki (a fish-shaped pastry filled with red bean paste), and traditional Mooncake with lotus-seed paste filling(Yum!). Just thinking about it makes me miss Japan.

I could go on to regular foods I love but rarely get, but I'd be here all night! I'll be done ranting for now.

Chocolate liquour cherries. Trader Joes makes theirs without dairy which I'm allergic to. They're only available during christmas time but thats probably a good thing since I could eat the whole box in one sitting...

KageShio: I didn't know ovos moles were available in the US. That's so awesome!

FuzzyLumpkin: and Deviant: thanks for the names! Whippets is fun to say. XD

I actually had them when I was in Portugal years ago. I have found them here once though, I was on the east coast, though I can't remember where exactly.

I've never heard of See's Candy, but it sounds very good- even though I don't have much of a sweet tooth. :)
On the subject of candy, Clair adores maple sugar candy... It melts in your mouth and is heavenly perfect. I haven't had a piece of the this kind of candy in SO MANY YEARS! :gonk:

Clair really enjoys sushi, Thai food and Chinese food. She doesn't get to eat those foods very often. :(

And for special occasion foods, Clair's family makes a special breakfast every Christmas morning... she only gets it ONCE A YEAR! :gonk: But it's so goooood.

I normally only have it once in awhile, but its okay cause I eat it so quickly mom can't keep up. I love love Humus and Pickles.

If i had to pick a candy though, I would pick homemade saltwater taffy from Myrtle Beach. So amazing to watch them make it while you eat it.
