Jobs? Current, future, dream job!
I don't see a thread about jobs and I quite curious on what you people do for a living or just to get some extra cash?
I'm currently in highschool so I earn some extra cash designing layouts at a *secret* online community. |
I would like to go into Entomology which is a branch of Zoology but I'm not sure if it's something I'd want to do for the rest of my life. Plus, at average pay for the field it would take me two years to pay off school debts if I used my paycheck only for paying off debts. :P So as of right now I'm undecided. I just want a job wher eI like it and make enough to live comfortably.

I'm in high school right now, and I've been working for my parents cleaning their shop weekly since sixth grade for money.
I think either this summer or next summer I'm going to apply for a summer job at the local library, too. I'm leaning toward waiting until next summer, though; I'd like to have one last year of freedom to go a lot of places and have fun over the summer before I have to get a job and start worrying about all of that. I'm not sure what I want to do when I'm older. I know I would like to write books and maybe poetry, but other than that, I'm not certain yet. I'm thinking I might want to be a librarian, a teacher of some sort, or a pharmacist. I'm still too indecisive about things and I change my mind way too often to decide on a career already though. |
I'm going to be a psychologist, hopefully forensic.
I want to be nothing else. =< But I am applying for jobs everywhere because my family is struggling with money and I want to help them, at least so we can get our pets' vaccines up to date and food on our table. |
I work for Microsoft. With only year of college and no degree, I seem to have lucked into a decent job. Currently I'm cramming my brain trying to get up to speed on a new position and I'm reading book after book on excel pivot tables and SQL. This stuff might as well be Chinese, but at least it is a good job and if I do well I can move up in the company.
It probably isn't what I would have chosen for myself when I was in high school, but as of right now I am satisfied enough. I tried to make it as a professional artist and fell flat on my face (not to mention started hating painting when I HAD to do it.) So I reserve my beloved hobbies to the sidelines and work on them in my spare time. I am much happier this way. |
I'd absolutely love to be a vet tech or a veterinarian. Right now though, I'm a high school student and I do odd jobs, coach soccer and swimming, I'm a camp counselor in the summer and I sometimes work at a pie shop. Such random jobs xD

QueenPeppermint: That's sounds like fun, especially if you really love animals! I think there's always a way to make a lot of money in any career, but you really have to love what you do in order to keep up that money earning spirit!
NeuzaKC: dead people -shivers- That's really kind of you to help out, good luck! |
I've always thought about being a beautician or hair stylist myself, but ALL of my cousins have gone to beauty school and I kinda wanna break tradition /:

If I could manage/own a medical marijuana shop in California and live comfortably that would ideal.

I'm a full-time college student/ figure model for the school and local people.
I'm working on a business degree to open up my own wedding consulting office. I want to put my art to use and create amazingly elegant weddings for people who can't afford the typical "cheap" 25k wedding. My dream job, would be something that helps people and I'm going to do that! |
I'm currently working for a Bank. Am really a boring person since my job itself has a boring nature. LOL!
My fancy job name is 'Account Relationship Manager' but I am basically a legal loan shark... I give out commercial loans to small and medium enterprises. Analyze, the repayment ability and also manage existing customers and see how else we can serve their banking needs. I mostly deal with financial controllers and directors of companies which sometimes can be pretty intimidating for someone as young as me but I try to work my way to acting comfortable and professional around them. A lot of people say I am not really well suited with such a job because I am no banker... I think in college, I swore that I would never work for a Bank because I seriously despise numbers and figures but LOL! look at where I am... I may not really like the job scope (except the analytical parts) but the perks and pay are pretty good. I mean financial institutions usually pay well. So I would probably just stay at my job, get as much money as possible and then leave for something I really like to do. |

Currently I am a sales associate at JCPenney, my dream job is to be a librarian! :D

I have had many different ideas of what I wanted to be:
When I was younger, I wanted to be a professional skateboarder (just humour me, I'm special XD) or a Police Officer. I gave up on being a Police Officer, since I don't feel like the kind of person, who wants to put my life on the line. I then wanted to be an Archaeologist, this stems from my love of history and the unknown. I did Work Experience, at a museum, I even got to go to a dig site and found some roman pottery. Sadly, this experience showed me, Archaeology wasn't something I wanted to pursue. My current and now my real aspiration is to become an English Teacher. From a young age, I loved reading, and was especially talented at it. Scoring quite high on reading tests, and passing all reading assigments easily. Then I ventured into English Language through my Secondary school career and college. I found a love for Etymology (the study of the origin of words) this subject fascinated me. I finally realised I wanted to do it, when I went to a lecture in Birmingham (in England) and the lecturer there, got in a conversation with me. He found I was very intelligent and would make an excellent teacher, and I kinda conbined them all and saw..that's what I wanted to be. Sorry for the long post XD |
I don't currently have a job, but I could use one. When I was younger I thought maybe a good job for me would be a Librarian because I love to read, I don't remember ever having to learn how to read. But now I'm thinking I would really enjoy working with plants or trees maybe, a landscaping place or an Arboretum would be a neat place to work at.

I want to go into child psychology - I've worked with the disabled population all through high school and now that I'm in college, I'd really like to be an autism specialist some day.
Unfortunately, my family is hard-pressed for money sometimes and I'm an okay, but not the best student. I've often thought of becoming a pastry chef. It's not a dream I've given up yet. I love, love, love to bake. |
Im sorry to just barge in the conversation, but i guess i have nothing better to do.
So what are we talking about? |
