I have to say I really, truly love to cook. I love baking, too, but I find the whole thing therapeutic. I love to make seafood the most though. I love making my own pasta and bread, and I can't wait until Spring so I can plant my own veggies in my garden. I love BBQ'ing, too. Salmon sausages and burgers with home fries I made from scratch. And sauces -- I love making all sorts of things.

Grilling, roasting, all that, but I can only improvise -- I am horrible at following a recipe. I have to have a feel for making things. As soon as there is a book in front of me, I blow it. On the other hand, I can take any ingredients at hand and whip something up, but don't ask me for the recipe -- I just eyeball everything...

I love love love to cook, but I'm your opposite - I'm a baker! Baking is very scientific and exact; unfortunately, with most recipes, you can't just eyeball stuff. My dad (who loves to cook and make up recipes) doesn't like baking... he says the process isn't creative. But for me, the biggest joy is testing out a recipe and saying "Okay, not bad... for a starting point," and THEN playing with the recipe, and really making it my own. :)

Just lately I've gotten into breads, which are shockingly difficult! I've actually got some dough rising for a traditionally Jewish loaf at the moment. Usually, though, I'm attracted to sweets... inventing cookies, baking huge, extravagant cakes... so much fun!

In fact, it's so fun for me that I've officially set it aside as my back up... I only started college last quarter, and so far I'm liking it. But if a child psychology degree doesn't work out (it requires eight years, after all), that's my alternative plan: to become a pastry chef!

:D Oh, yes, breads are tricky! It's not something you can just do on the fly, it's practice, all right...

I like to cook and bake. Everyone seems to like everything I make but most especially when I bake cookies. It's really kind of an event come Christmas. I make about 6 dozen cut out sugar cookies from scratch. After there cooled me, my mom and my step dad sit around the table and frost them with homemade powdered sugar frosting that I add food coloring and sometimes flavoring liquid to. They melt in your mouth and don't tend to stick around that long even having 6 dozen of them.

I really like to cook, but I don't like baking very much. I'm not very good at it.

I'm a pretty good chef otherwise though. And I LOVE to grill. I make all of my own barbecue sauces and marinades, and I never fail to please the people eating my food haha.

Big on flavor and color and trying new, interesting combinations.

This week, I made Taco Pasta Salad, which normally doesn't sound good.. but the flavors combined perfectly and became something amazing.

I love cooking so much that its my career choice. I love making my own sauces, and of course, a recipie is only a guideline. I love practicing my cooking, and combining things that you dont normally think of combining.

That's what makes it so much fun, like a game or an experiment and the kitchen is both your lab and playground...:vicky:

I love cooking, and good thing too. Since my mom started her job in october it's just been me and my older brother for supper 6 days a week, and if he had his way we'd eat stovetop stuffing X< yuck.
So I cook supper 6 days a week, and I love experimenting. I am the sauce queen! I can make a sauce for anything ^.^

I really hate baking. It's so specific and theres no room for additions or adaptations. Yet somehow whenever my friends are having a drinking party, I end up baking a cake.... No clue why.... XD

Too tired to cook now, but I'm planning the menu tomorrow -- salmon, feta, goat cheese, mushroom, and spinach pizza sandwiches for lunch tomorrow...

I love cooking any and everything really. I don't think I've cooked quite enough to decide what I enjoy doing more or what I'm better at. I just hate the dishes! :P
