Any fashion-conscious Menes out there? What designers do you like? For me, I like Moschino, Takeshy Kurosawa, and Ralph Lauren, which probably makes me a little old school these days. Betsey Johnson is all in my books, too...

I don't generally care but I do love Christian Audigier's Ed Hardy line. Especially the bags. I just love tattoo art.

I can't afford to buy things from my favorite designers. Right now I'm in need of a Chanel tweed jacket, but who can afford that!?
I'm really loving Theyskens' Theory this season... And pretty much anyone who's doing neon, which is pretty much everyone. XD

I don't really look at labels. I just find things I like and buy them, only to look at the label 2 weeks later and go "Holy SH*T This is a____!" Everyone looks at me weird when that happens ^.^'

Tokidoki and Christian Siriano are my favorite. ^///^ I have a little figurine from Tokidoki but I really want one of her bags and I have a book from Christian. I respect different designers and follow them but don't really buy most of their stuff due to lack of funds. T_T

Frankly I find the whole desinger thing to be a bit silly. Why should consumers pay $100 for a pair of pants that would otherwise be $20 anywhere else, simply because it has some desinger's (or sports player's) name on it? I've never been one to buy into fahion of fads, I tend to be the sort that likes to stand out, I like kilts, combat BDUs, and other related items...

My mother used to work in a high end boutique, and believe me, there is a huge difference in workmanship and quality. You can tell the difference a mile away. It's like a work of art. And a $100 a shirt? That would be low-end -- people can drop tens of thousands of dollars on a single store visit without blinking. Those expensive suits can last decades looking the same as the day they were made, and that's why there is a big market for vintage. A twenty-dollar shirt falls apart the first time you wash it. In the long run, the "cheaper" clothes cost you a lot more than the more expensive stuff. You really get what you pay for...

I love Ann Taylor, because she makes clothes for short girls, and I am 5 feet tall! Michael Kores and DKNY also make great "petite" clothing:)

I LOVE Valentino stuff! Like OHMAGAWRSHE! If I can ever afford to splurge on something expensive...he's going to be the first one I go to.
I also love Guess stuff. I only have one shirt by them...it was an expensive $40 studded t-shirt...but I've worn it so much that the money spent was worth it.

I've had some shirts that I've paid $5-10 for years. I wouldn't say that they fall apart faster than designer. I also bought a pair of Tommy jeans that did fall apart in less than a month as opposed to my $10 jeans that lasted 8 years. Designers don't always put quality into their work which I think is a shame for what some people are willing to pay for a label. I personally just buy what I like. I shop at thrift stores and things like that. I refuse to pay more than $25 for a pair of jeans, $10 for a t-shirt, and dress shirts for $15. I tend to stick pretty close to that.
I would have to say that I'm my own favorite "designer". I make what I like and things that fit me correctly, which is hard for me to find since I have a weird "sense" of style.

I am not talking about more commercial designers who farm out their name. The top level ones are definitely superior in quality and design. There are stores where you can shop by appointment only. No one off the street. Those clothes you cannot compare to the stuff you find on the racks.
Fashion is a strange beast -- you have conglomerates who own several brands, and even then, they contract out their work to several different smaller companies -- and it's the number on the back of the label that tells you more than the name on the front. You don't know what materials they use, what dyes they use, or what corners they cut to make it.
I don't spend a fortune on my wardrobe, but I am careful what I buy...

My most favourite designer has to be Jane Norman, I am British, so its possible not many will have heard of her, but she is big in the UK.
