I love my Tilt-A-Whirls and my Roller Coasters. I know there is an element of danger, but I do like to ride on them. There is a park a block away from my house, and a couple of times a year, they'll have a special event and have them up, but I prefer the amusement parks like Disney World -- I used to like them because they scared the heck out of me, but now I like to think with the flow...:yumeh1:

I burn out so easily on the scary part. I like when I first hop on a ride after ages of not doing em, but then I just sort of get used to it.

It's not just rides tho. I have this annoying dissociative thing that goes wrong with me sometimes. It sucks because a lot of the fun in life gets sleepwalked thru.

Anyway, back when I lived in NY I used to pop out to Coney Island quite a bunch. I liked the Wonder Wheel, which has swinging cars, and a smaller roller coaster that had a long spiral up and then did this superfast drop that went sideways on the track.

I know it's more famous, but I never got into the Cyclone much.

I used to totally love theme parks and roller coasters and everything. But as I have matured, I now can't stand them like I used to. I have no idea why.

I'm always scared when/if I'm waiting in line and right when the ride first begins, especially if we have to climb a tall one... slowly. During and after, I'm like "WOO!". :P I can't wait for this summer. My dad, brother, boyfriend, one of my best friends, and I are going to Universal Studios every weekend all summer long.

My life wouldn't be complete without roller coasters and thrill rides. I'm really disappointed that we don't live near or have the money to travel to any amusement parks on a regular basis like we used to. If I could, I'd go around and visit every roller coaster I could find.

I've been going to Universal Studios almost every weekend with my parents and my mom's friend's family for the past two months. XD Mostly for the Mardi Gras stuff they have going on right now, we like to watch the parade and see whatever band is playing. It's fun but as far as the rides, after a while it's like, yeah... I've been on everything I want to go on. >_< And I hate waiting in lines, but it's nice because some days there are practically no lines for some of the rides which is awesome.

I hate the feeling when I'm waiting in line for a ride I've never been on and wondering if it's going to scare the crap out of me or something. I am not a big fan of roller coasters and won't go on most of them. There are a few I like though, but the first time going on them I was wondering if it was a mistake the whole time in line. XD It's so much easier when I know what to expect.

I enjoy a good roller coaster, I'm not fond of things that spin ridiculously however, I can handle loops and barrel rolls, but thing that just spin, spin, spin some more, don't strike my fancy. One of my favorite coasters is the Goliath at Six Flags...deifinately gets the adrenaline flowing.

I forgot to mention that my favorite rides are the water rides -- I know I'll get drenched, but man, is it worth it!

I love water rides too.^^ I spend more time in the water park than I would at the rest of amusement park. I use to not like roller coasters, I'd only go on the "sissy" ones. But then my friends convinced me to go on some of them because they all loved scary rides. I got over my fear but now my body can't handle them. :/

I would totally go with coasters! I love em. Though it stinks because no one else in my family can go on them when we go to a park :/

That's my problem. Everyone I know cannot or will not go on the coasters; so I just go by myself.

I once went on a Ferris Wheel with someone who had a meltdown when we reached the top and screamed until they brought her down so she could get off. I didn't strong arm her to go on with me. I felt horrible because she was so distressed. I guess she thought it wasn't fair for me to go by myself and was going to keep me company.

Then there was another time when I went on a Tilt-a-Whirl with someone who suffers from vertigo -- I told her not to come because it would make her dizzy, but, she insisted that it could not be that bad because it was a ground level ride. She got sick for days after that.

So now I have a rule: I go by myself because it's more fun to ride alone than to have someone get sick because they had good intentions...

That's a shame that you an Beautiful Disaster both have to ride alone. A friend asked me a couple weeks ago if I could go to an amusement park with her and I flat out told her no. I really want to but I wouldn't want to put her through what you've been through.

Oh, I am not complaining. I find them peaceful in a strange way...

Since I moved I don't have anyone to go to amusement parks, the closest one is just a random water park that is too expensive for a day trip. I haven't been on a coaster in a good, long while -- I miss having a Six Flags close by.

I HATE ferris wheels or anything that goes high and is slow or that swings like those darn pirate ships. Those scare the crap out of me. I have panic attacks if I go on anything like that because of my fear of heights. I couldn't even go up into the arch in St. Louis because I started having a panic attack when it started moving.

For whatever reason though, roller coasters do not bug me. I love the speed. I think that the speed factor cancels out the phobia I have of heights. It's just that when I am waiting in line and the platform to get on the ride has those see through stars I will not go on it if I have to stand on the stairs and I can see the ground from more than a few feet up. I start panicking and break out in a sweat and can't move.

Yeah, Ferris Wheels and a fear of heights is not the best combination. I mentioned my friend who freaked out on a Ferris Wheel -- she had a fear of heights, and I didn't want her to go up there with me, but I don't think she realized how darned high it went up. I felt really, really, really bad -- if I objected, she'd think I didn't want her company, but if I kept quiet, well, she gets distressed.

My mom has a fear of heights, so I always know what's coming...

I realized my fear of heights on a Ferris wheel in Disney Land. I was freaking out and trying to keep myself calm by looking at the ground. I got off shaking and had to sit down for a while because I felt really sick. I really did not think it would be so horrible.

They don't look horrible from the ground. They move slow and it's hard to realize just high up they go.

I only got super-scared on two rides: Space Mountain at the Disney and that wouldn't happen again -- you just go up and up and up and then when it hits you that what comes up must come down -- boom! -- and then it feels like the ground is pulled out from under you. It was a complete psych out -- very few rides have that kind of sneaky psychological aspect to them.

The second ride was at the CNE a couple of years ago -- it was a kiddie ride that looked so benign so I went -- but it threw me for a loop because it went a lot higher and faster than it looked from the ground. I almost fell asleep on the swings five minutes before that. For me, both times I underestimated the ride and got a scare. Most times, I am a pretty good judge...

Yeah. OMG....Space Mountain scares the crap out of me too! I hate those kinds of rides too! I love Cedar Point, an amusement park in Ohio, because they have a lot of really big fast coasters. I just avoid anything smaller and I'm normally okay. XD

I like them, but I worry because I've heard so damn many horror stories about accidents and such. DX

Yeah, and you hear stuff about people driving a car and get into accidents, too. I figure I'm more likely to get whacked in my car than I am on a roller coaster...

I mean, don't get me wrong. There have been rides I have nixed on the account that they didn't look well-maintained. Traveling carnivals aren't likely to get my business. Accidents happen, it's that they aren't just confined to amusement parks. I have been in a car accident more than once in my life, but never had a problem on a ride...

BUT I DO LOVE ROLLERCOASTERS! They're frawkin' amazing. ;33

Zig doesn't like any rides that go upside down or spin around too fast. I like the pirate ship and then some more kiddish rides like bumper cars, etc. I didn't go on my first roller coaster until a few years go. It was the Superman at Six Flags Darien Lake. I was so afraid but actually liked it. I still refuse to go on any coasters upside down though so that's the only one I've been on. There is one wooden coaster that I could go on but it's really old and the idea of going on it kinda freaks me out. That and I hard it gives you whiplash because it's so rickety. T_T
