I don't care.
It's just two more people in the world getting married that are not me.

Cherish 04-25-2011 03:51 PM

I care. I care because it's a national holiday for us, and therefore a free day off work... and I bloody love a free day off work!

Do I care about her dress or the cake or which celebrities they'll be hobnobbing it up with? No, not really. Couldn't give less of a shit if I ate nothing but bananas, to be honest. But I have nothing against those that do. A bit of televised decadence is as good an excuse as any to have a party.

There's no sense in being a miserable grumpy grumpus about it. If you're too much of a miserable grumpy grumpus, your face will fall off. True fact.

Clorissa 04-25-2011 04:05 PM

cherish, you're funny!

Miserable grumpy gumpus.. Gonna have to use that one lol.

NeuzaKC 04-25-2011 06:31 PM

I don't care for it, but honestly I'm not going to bitch about it. I mean really? I hear about Obama all the time, the wars, this and that, all stuff that doesn't concern me and that I couldn't give less of a shit about. But it's on the TV. So the way I see it, you got two choices: suck it up, or turn off the damn thing and go do something else.

HIM_ROCK 04-25-2011 07:09 PM

Couldn't Wills and Kate have done what the normal rich and famous do....Sell the photos to OK magamazine and stick ttheir wedding video on YouTube.

Projectwolfie 04-25-2011 07:11 PM

It was important in the 80s, it's important now. Although the western mainstream media does it's normal stupidity, they could be covering far worse so I'm OK with this. I mean really, it's nice to have a subject that's at least somewhat happy on TV now.

Cherish 04-25-2011 07:24 PM

Clorissa, do! We'll bring it into common usage.

carzeemumbear 04-25-2011 10:19 PM

@LizzyCollinsDeArc: you were the most polite person so far! :)
@Clorissa: Please use grumpy grumpus cos your swearing is tedious.
I agree that the Royal family don't do much politically, but culturally they are important. They do a HUGE amount for charity, they now pay taxes just like everyone else, they work endless hours, you should research how much the Queen actually does in a year before you spout off about her. The media are the evil ones in all of this really. I never buy those magazines either so don't try and come back at me with the "guilty as they are" argument!
Having said all that, I won't be watching the wedding. Long weddings are boring, especially royal ones! I don't think that us out here in the colonies get a day off either!
One more thing... If people don't STOP calling the Beckhams "virtual royalty" I'm going to be sick!!!

Imaginative Sarah 04-25-2011 11:01 PM

It's stupid. my name means princess but you don't see me bragging :3
anyway, I just think it's nothing to brag about. I thought that the wedding was some fake thing though, that movie was stupid..

Codette 04-25-2011 11:18 PM

wow... I mean I don't care to the point to actually watch it, but some of you guys are really being ignorant and rude.
I've had to deal with stupid presidential elections, and now all this about the wedding is a lot of boredom for me. Just deal with it people. Ignore the media if you detest it so much, and don't insult the people who are actually interested.

Kraven 04-26-2011 12:48 AM

Kate should get a pre-nup.

Dillo 04-26-2011 02:58 AM

lawls. I wish I could freeze the world and then kick the whole royal family between the legs.^^

Vix Viral 04-26-2011 03:13 AM

I don't see the point to bitching and moaning about it. Not interested? Change the channel. I think it'd be a good idea if people stopped whining like children and put their big boy and girl undies on. There will be things in life that will annoy you. Get the fuck over it already.

Dillo 04-26-2011 03:19 AM

I WEAR BOXERS!!!: DDDDD

Mystic 04-26-2011 04:03 AM

I don't have a TV. XD

I still hear enough about it from magazines and things like that though. I get why it's important but like everything else the press has a field day with it and "beats a dead horse" so to speak. I really do not care about elections or anything else that the media extensively covers either. It just gets old to hear the same thing over and over again.

Draciolus 04-26-2011 06:00 AM

Wow...after reading alot of the posts here, I actually have to agree with everyone who said stuff about the presidential elections being shoved down their throats, when they arent even American. Im Canadian, do I care who gets into office in the States? No, I dont give a flying rats ass about it. Do I care that Will and Kate are getting married? Not really, even though she shares the same last name, no relations though. Do I care about the upcoming Canadian elections? Enough to vote.

Now, the BIG question: Do I care enough to bitch about it to other people, while in the time it takes me to bitch, I could have changed the channel, ignored the news, and found something interesting to occupy my time with? Yes, I do belive that is what I shall do.

And yes, some of the stuff I said may come off as rude, but guess what, thats who I am when ignorant people try and legitimacize their tunnel visioned views on things withouth thinking about how THEIR countries "important" events are televised where noone else really cares about them. And in closing, in the words of a co-worker:

Quote:

"Im higher on the food chain, I do what I want!"
Yeah...some of that might be the sleep-deprived mind of mine talking, but honestly, ignorance is NOT bliss. Ignorance is a cause to be sat down, thrown a textbook from another country, and FORCED to see what they learn, that you do not. Keep an open mind, and change channels if you dont want to see/hear about something.

Explodey 04-26-2011 06:52 AM

I am in America and looking forward to waking up at 3am our time to watch the coverage. I think things like this are exciting. a peek into a life of luxury of a kind I'd never get to see any other way.

Good point. :) I tried my hardest not to be rude about it.

Also it's a difference in culture. As other posters pointed out, our 2008 Presidential Election was aired in other nations. I am sure they were bored and fed up with it too. I mean the coverage of the 2008 election.

So I am going back to Syraannabelle's point, we don't have to be rude about it and disrespect the coverage. Just watch other things or local news for a little while. Even if they cover the wedding, just switch the channel. :S

Cardinal Biggles 04-26-2011 08:44 AM

There's certainly overkill in the US. It wouldn't be so bad, but for the fact that it's gone about in such a cheesy manner, most of it.

BlackEggIceBird 04-26-2011 03:50 PM

I care weddings are beautiful! Knowing there is going to be a king and queen soon! So amazing I just really want to see the dress lol yay for dresses!!

angelbabe1 04-26-2011 04:07 PM

Yeah I know why it's a big deal but I'm sick hearing about it too. :yumeh1:
But whatevas xD

Dillo 04-26-2011 05:12 PM

Kate is pretty smexy though!;DD

Explodey 04-26-2011 07:31 PM

Also, I too am tired of seeing President Obama;s Union Addresses too. They tend to supercede all other programming, and since I'm already not a fan of televised baseball and football my regular shows get interrupted enough.

I should say again I'm IN America, so if I'm more into the Royal Wedding and have not a care for my country's president's speeches, what does that say about me? I guess that I like happy events moreso than political ones, maybe.

Cardinal Biggles 04-26-2011 08:45 PM

Such vitriol in this thread. Ay yi yi. People, relax, it only affects you in the minorest of ways. There are many more important things in this world to devote your energy to.

It's a bit of history, tradition, and pomp. Take it for what it is. Enjoy, or ignore the best you can, if that's really your wish.

Bartuc 04-26-2011 08:48 PM

Its the new Bra-ngalinia. The new Bennifer. It is the new Matt & Ben.

Seriously, people care to much in society about others and how their life is so 'perfect.'
