I just finished watching the whole thing live. It was so beautiful! Whether you care about the royals or not, the royal family is still a huge part of the British culture because we are a monarchy. So naturally the public take an interest in royal weddings, funerals, coronations, ect. The foreign interest on the other hand was quite staggering, the BBC said they were broadcasting the wedding to approximately 180 different countries. I saw an American promo for the royal wedding coverage on one the UK comedy shows- 10 o'clock live- and honestly it would put me off watching the royal wedding. It was so saccharin and twee I just wanted to vomit rainbows. I watched the royal wedding because it is a piece of British history not because it is some happy ending to a romantic fairytale.

This post has everything it should in it. Right down to the signature. Una, I doff my hat in your direction.

This isn't to say that there aren't other posts in here that are levelheaded and well formed and worth the space they take. But this is the summation of my feelings, certainly.

Honestly, I didn't care about the wedding. It wasn't a big deal to me, so I didn't watch TV for the entire day on Friday. Crisis averted! xD

I don't mind it being on TV, shown, because other people were interested in it. The only thing that bothered me was the constant ads for it, but it's like political ads around here (for any political position); they go away after the elections. I'm happy for people who enjoyed it, though. :] Not my cup of tea, but to each their own.

I also do not see the importance of the royal wedding. I know it is probably really important to england but, since I do not live any where near england I do not see any relievance to be concerned. But I do see why some people are concerned.
And I did have to watch it. My school made us watch it and gave us a quiz afterwards on the wedding. So i did actually watch it. I just did not see the point in watching it.
