So...wow... according to a bunch of websites online and churches around the world... the NEW date for the end of the world... is less than a week from today. ^^ I'm not sure what I can even say about this... but, I'm actually very tired of these doomsday theories. :/
How do others feel about these "theories"?
Does anyone believe that the world will be ending anytime soon? (and, if you do, please don't be afraid to say so- Clair won't judge anyone, especially not by their beliefs :) )

I find them amusing. I love watching programs and reading about conspiracy/end-of-the-world type theory's. I think they're hilarious, I really do.
Personally I think the world will hold out on us a bit longer... Whether or not Mother Nature allows us to survive natural selection is up to her. I don't think all our recent disasters as proof of the world coming to an end, I see it was Mother Nature doing what she does to any animal population that grows bigger than needed. I hate to say it because it's going to sound crass but take Japan. It's people stacked upon people stacked upon people stacked upon people. Really that little island really couldn't handle that much population. (NOW: I'd like to note that I'm not heartless and my sympathies and best wishes goes to anyone who's had to deal with a natural disaster/who's had family in a natural disaster/ who's lost family due to natural disasters.)
But yeah... If I'm right and the world doesn't end in my lifetime I'm going to have a party. If I'm wrong and it does... well who's going to run by me yelling "na na na na na na".
Also I was looking it up... apparently May 21st isn't the end of the world, but the first day of 'Judgment'.... If I'm wrong with my own theory's... I guess I get to party in hell with the cool kids *giggles*

I wanna kick my own church in the face for striking fear into people's hearts with the doomsday theories. In the Bible, it says Jesus will come and the world will end when no one expects it, but now a whole bunch of people do so, yeah.
Just chill people.

There's so many doomsday theories now, I honestly don't believe any of them.
A lot of them are viral news that people come up with and it spreads.
The ones having to do with religion aren't very convincing either. I guess if you're a very religious person, then you'd be freaked out, but I'm not religious at all and am amazed at some of the crazy things people believe in.
The only way the world will end is by 3 possible ways.
1. Man-made apocalypse. We wipe ourselves out through our own creations. Mass nuclear winter, maybe zombies.
2. Extraterrestrial apocalypse. Something from space kills us all off. An asteroid or maybe some pissed off aliens. (they exist, there's no way we're alone in the universe!)
3. Natural apocalypse. The recent earthquakes just keep getting worse and worse. Volcanoes around the world erupt.

@ Itch:: My church right now is in an obsession about preaching about the Rapture and doomsday... I'm sick of it and I've actually started avoiding my church... not because I've lost faith, but because I'm tired of hearing about the end of the world everywhere. :/
@ Arkkath:: If/when the world ends, I do not believe we'll ever be able to predict it... at least not until it's too late to do anything to stop it.
@ Syraannabelle:: Exactly! Even if the world ends in my life time, I'm not just gonna roll over and die. I'm going to continue to live my life the way I plan to (I know you can't plan your life exactly- but i have goals and things I want to accomplish for me) and whether the world ends in 20 years, a few days, or hundreds of years into the future, I won't stop living my life. :)

Clair: Out of the possible way the world could end, the only one we'd really be able to predict would be an asteroid. And even now we're developing ways to destroy them or alter their trajectory so they don't hit us.
Forgot to mention one for extraterrestrial. Our sun. If nothing else wipes us out by then, our sun will. It will eventually swell up and then super nova. Not even close to being in any of our life times though and hopefully by then we will have moved to another planet or something.

@ Arkkath:: I once heard that first the sun would develope into a Super Red Sun... then super nova. But, whichever the case, it will not happen suddenly one morning in our life times, so, I think we're safe for now.

I feel you, Clair.
I'm not losing faith in what I believe in, its just the church (Catholic), it's corrupt, like seriously. = n= It's driving me nuts how this faith is going crazy giving themselves a bad name. UGH! This is why I don't like going to church sometimes. I believe a true devout person is one who shows love for their religion in or out of church, I decided to be the devout kind of person OUT of the church = u=b

Itch: Sort of off topic here, but I agree about the corrupt church. They really are making a bad name for themselves.
I'm not religious, but I believe that a person can be kind hearted and good without having to devote themselves to a certain faith. To be honest, I'd think it would just be easier if everyone just did good things for others and not have any religions at all. Religious differences is what started or had a hand in pretty much every war ever. But alas, that's not the world we live in and humans are greedy creatures.

Itch: Yay more off topic for you :P
You're the kind of person I can respect. You're religious, but you don't go around shoving it down people's throats.
I know a few people like that and I can't stand them. I have a very good quote on this very subject, but it's kind of inappropriate, so I won't post it unless you want to hear it :P

The church, both Catholic and Non-Catholic Christians have REALLY gotten a bad rep in the past few decades. :( I mean, people get all boxed up and won't talk to me if I mention I'm Christian or if I mention I believe in God. It's so sad. I know a few people at my church are so clueless, they don't understand why people don't like Christianity... and I try to explain to them it's because of the way Christians have treated people in the past... people don't want to deal with it anymore.

I don't believe the May21 apocalypse. The man who "predicted it" has "done the math wrong" twice before and the apocalypse failed to come. Still, if anyone gets raptured, please have lots of good fun. :P
I'm babysitting through most of the actual "apocalypse" Day, so I'm baking on another false prediction. Because, you know, there's no Babysitter's Guide to the Apocalypse.

Actually, aparently, according to them, some day in October of this year is "the end of the world." The 21st is when Jesus brings sexy back--Judgement Day! It's funny cause it's my fiance's birthday--an anarchist atheist, ahaha. We think it's hilarious.
It's true, I think, that things are starting to change in big ways. People can see things are changing. I don't think we can expect hellfire, but I do think things will get worse in the world before they get better---I see these events as metaphors telling us that at any moment something terrible is going to happen (cough--peak oil, global devastation, polar ice cap melting, , racism and injustice, ongoing war, radioactive waste, natural disaster, cough!), and we should be prepared and take steps to heal ourselves spiritually. I say this, and I'm not religious at all, but I think it's good people get scared--now if they only could get scared for the right reasons, and not because some cosmic end-time Santa tells them if they've been naughty or nice.

Weell, I was hoping somebody would post about this. xD
I was like..Hm, no one in face book is ranting about it. It's probably not serious then..
Hah.
I thought it was a christian thing?
Anyways, I read a little bit about it...I think it's funny. Judgment day.
If "God" really wanted to destroy everyone because of their sins, I think he/she/it would have done it much, much sooner.
Like in the 1800s, with all their cabarets and such...I wish I lived in the 1800s. xD
With a beard..so I can get a "deluxe" shave. ;D
There's always a silver lining, if judgment day really does happen at least I won't have to pay for norton.

The world won't end in a week, hell it probably won't even end in 2012 unless there's an Armageddon-type astroid heading our way. Even then I'm sure that someone on this planet knows that somethings up and will do anything to get it to stop. The world won't end until the sun decides to go all crazy and blow itself up anyways, the Earth is third in line to do so. That won't happen for another few billion years anyways, so there's plenty of time to worry about that.
There's always been theories as to when the Earth will end, the most popular one is the Mayan 2012 one -- but even that isn't even the end of the world. Just the end of the current calender and when the next one starts. Or so I heard anyways.
