What countries have YOU visited?
 

I always thought it was interesting to be able to record where you have been in the world and how many continents you have explored.
I have found a website (of a few) where you can select countries and you can generate your own map! This one also tells you how many countries in which continents/sections you have visited and what percentage is taken up by each.
I'm excited to see where all of you have been!

The only other country I've really been to is Italy. I went over spring break with a group from my school.

I was actually in France, too, for all of about fifteen minutes... so I don't think that exactly counts. xD

I've been to Spain with a layover in Germany.

That's all. Otherwise.....I've always been in America. And I'm (mostly) okay with that.

I've never been outside the Usa. I think it'd be a great opportunity to visit another country, and be able to say I have been out of the United States.

I'm sure you will some day! I'd love to go to some of those places too.

France counts! If you've set foot in it then you've been IN France, so I think it counts. Where in Italy did you go? That sounds really fun, did you have a good time?


You wouldn't have to learn a new language, most of the world can speak English much better than ourselves! I think it's quite lucky that we can be understood almost universally. Though learning another language at least a little bit would be very helpful.

All: I think that's the difference with living in a smaller country. Because America is so big, it's likely many people won't travel outside because there are so many places within it. I live in England and I think that because it's smaller, it's much more common to go to other countries for a holiday. Europe is made of lots of smaller countries and so it's quicker to get to them.

I hope you get the chance to travel more!
So if you live in America, have any of you travelled to different states?

We went to Venice, Sorrento, Rome, Pompeii, Capri, Pisa, and Florence (and probably a few other places I'm forgetting at the moment...). We basically just spent a day or so in each place; we had all of our hotels, meals, and transportation and all of that arranged with the travel group already, so we got to see a lot.

It was definitely a lot of fun, except for the fact that we had this kid in our group that kept stalking my friends and me the whole time. Italy itself was incredible; going with a group of high school students, not always so much. xD It was a great experience though; one of my friends and I are actually thinking about going back in a few years.

That is so many places! You are very lucky to have experienced all of those places. I've never been to Italy before! I think spending a day in each is a brilliant idea as you can take in a lot more of a country than staying in one place for the whole time. Yeah, I guess it would be better to be able to choose who you go with, but with school you have to take what you're given!

Nice! I've never been to the US but I think I will be able to go down to Seattle from Vancouver Island when I go! And yes it shall count.

Great map! I live in England, so it's kind of the same deal. It counts though because if you live there and it's not one of the places highlighted on the map it seems like you've never been there.
Africa looks amazing. Though you have to get a lot of injections and take medication before you go because of all the risks which I would not be so happy about (needles are not my idea of a nice time). The culture would be really good to experience. Maybe Kenya would be a good place to go?

I live in the US, I have only left it once and just barely. Vancouver, Canada 2001.
I would love to visit Japan and London though.

Echidna: Yes I think it would be worth it! I went to Tunisia last year and so I just escaped all the political ruccus going on.

Bella_Cullen: I'm going to Vancouver this year! What is it like, and did you like it there?

When I went to Tunisia I think I expected the weather to be a bit warmer, even though it was early in the year, so it turned out to be quite cold. Where I was there wasn't a lot round but it was still fun to be there. I think you have to be pretty hard-headed when you're in Arabic countries because of their approach to tourists. It can be very intimidating especially for young women.

Ah that's a shame you didn't get to go. I'd love to go on a volunteer project they seem like a really good experience.

I've been to Holland, England, Wales, Scotland, New Zealand, Fiji and according to the system on this thread... I've also ben to Hong Kong, (airport) and Dubai (airport). At least in Dubai we had to walk across the runway area to go into the airport so I have set foot on the ground. Those places were when we immigrated to NZ when I was 11. One long haul flight from Manchester to Hong Kong where we changed planes to good old Air New Zealand and flew to Auckland. I saw men in walk shorts and knee socks for the very first time!

I love New Zealand most but Scotland is my favourite other place. A lot like NZ I guess, but colder!

Carzeemumnbear: Where do you live?/Did live? They are some cool places! I'd love to go to New Zealand or Fiji - and Dubai and Hong Kong. Scotland is like NZ in a way? That sounds unusual, how so? Do you mean Manchester in England? I fly from there mostly.

This is my map or where I have traveled so far, my goal is to see as much of the world as I can. Travel is addicting to me because I love seeing new places and learning about the cultures and meeting new people.

xRhii: Love your map! And that's what I want to do too. I'd love to be able to cover as much as I can on the map!

Larxene: Cool! Do you go to see relatives or is it a nice place to go on holiday?

I haven't been to too many places outside of the US. I've only been to Canada and China. I go to China pretty frequently, though, because that's where a lot of my relatives are.

I'd like to go to Europe sometime. I'd also like to eventually have been a large portion of the world. Maybe after I graduate from college, I'll take a couple months to travel around before I start working.

Wow, I'm annoyed at my map! My longing to travel hasn't got me further than Europe. I wish to live in Ireland, or somewhere equally as unusual to me :)
