My friends have a little nickname for me. They call me Eyes. I find that ironic, seeing as I only have one real one. I lost the other one a while back, and now it's being replaced by a glass eye I had made completely black, because it's always been strange to me to see someone's fake eye staring at you.
My friends like picking at me like that, and I stand by the name because it notes my unique fact. Have you got a nickname based on a unique attribute to you, or just a nickname in general?

Ive got a few nicknames. Some of which I chose myself(gamertag, screen name, etc), and others people have given me for random, unknown reasons.
My main nickname, of course, is Draciolus. Back in high school, my friends and I played the game Ragnarok Online, and 99% of my characters ended up having one thing in common, they all contained Draciolus, with variations of pre-fix, or shortening it. Though, I did end up making a character near the end of my time playing it that one of my good friends I met on that game always called me by, Delicious.
Some of the ones others have given me include: George(guy couldnt remember my name...third week he worked with me -.-), Bob(best friend and I always introduced ourselves as Bob), Stretch(being 6'4", and roughly 8" taller than most family members, kinda abvious), O-Dawg(one guy who was obsessed with anything rap related gave me this nickname last summer). Im sure I have more nicknames, but most of them Ive either forgotten, are for family and really close friends only, or Im not very fond of. Well, other than the nickname Asshole. Yeah...I get called that ALOT at work by one of the other cooks. >.>

Nice backstories for those nicknames, Drac (if I may call you that?). I certainly have others, though Eyes is most prominent for the obvious reason listed above. Although I would have to admit, if anyone dared call me anything rap-related, even if they were obsessed with it, I would probably knock them out. Not to say I hate the style, though.
One shared among my friends and I would be Boss. I run a charity-based business and my friends/housemates work for me, and every time I tell them to do something they say "Yes Boss!" It started to annoy me at first, but really, once you get called Boss enough times, it... grows on you. In a way, anyway.
I can relate to the name Stretch. I'm six and a half feet tall, so I'm called either Stretch or Rail (being in the low hundreds in weight, thus very thin) by total strangers. That, I'll say, is annoying.

Of course you can call me Drac, everyone does. All my friends on XBL call me Drac, and even a bunch of my friends from high school will refer to me in that way...even when we havent seen each other in years. xD
Yeah, being called stretch or something along those lines by people who dont know me is annoying. Same with the rap-related one. The guy was a pretty cool kid(and he was a kid, barely 18), but I mostly ignored it.

Thank you very much. Normally when playing online games like Left 4 Dead, if I ever work up the courage to play online and with a group, I'm Kaiuro, or Kai. It's been my username for a while, until I changed it, but even then people would always call me Kai.
Certainly it is. But they seem to keep their distance when they call me something relating to my height or something else. I suppose they are afraid of me, or something. But still, there is something about a slang term or something manipulated to sound strange or different that really bothers me. Especially when it's used as a name.... Hm, now I sound old.

My closet friends and family call me Elfie (original short name being Ali)
because I have pointy ears that stick out from beneath my hair. They are legit pointy too, I'm not even kidding you. Ever since I was little I've had people comment on my ears. I got them from my grandfather who had the exact same ears. I can move them too :D I have a story about it too!!
So a few months into school, (freshman year; this year) I met a girl named Carol. We had never talked before so she had no idea what my family called me. The first thing she said to me was: "You look like an elf, I offically dubb you a boss." From that day on we have been really good friends so shes in on the elfie thing XD

I love that story, Aria. Quite the funny backstory, and reason, for your nickname! Is so nice to hear the nicknames of people who have either an interesting reason or story for it, instead of just a shortening of the name or the usage of a middle or last name. I've never met anyone with genuinely-pointed ears, one rare thing to meet or speak to, I say.

Hahah, I had to get used to people looking at the sides of my head. I used to wear hats but got over that phase real quick.
I love my ears even though as a child I was made fun of for them ):
They make me unique ^^

Peers can be cruel sometimes. Best to show you love your unique attribute rather than react badly. When I first got my artificial eye, I used to go back to wearing an eyepatch, then when I got the name Captain Jack Sparrow, I decided to just get rid of it. I like Eyes better.
Ah, but how could I forget? Two of my most-famous names include Ammy and Kratos, as I was obsessed with both Okami and God of War for a long time (and still am).

Wamakai was my dad's idea. It means "the one with the cheeks." I'm not as small as my avatar obviously so he loved pinching my cheeks. I picked up the name again and it's pretty unique. Now I don't mind it at all :)
The rest of the nicknames I got were pretty mean. Not sure I've had any because of something unique about me...

I like that. Especially since it must fit you well.
Though we will ignore the meaner nicknames. Everyone has one or more, and we learn to forget them. That, or laugh at them and the people who called us what they did.

Hm... I gave my self the nickname Lizzy, since I didn't want to use my real name online at the time of starting the internet. CollinsDeArc isn't a real last name by the way. The rest of the nicknames, my family members gave me. Ugh... :-/
Anyways, the nicknames I gave myself is Lizzy or Liz. Some people call me Liz though. I hadn't had any other nicknames unless they were mean ones. And no... my name is not short for Elizabeth.
Interesting nicknames people get now at days. I know this guy they call Fat-Back. I don't know why they call him that. Crazy nicknames people get around the neighborhood (some neighborhoods anyways). :S

Back when my family really moved around a lot, I struggled to find my own identity. It's hard to feel so out of control and insecure when you're just figuring out who you are. That's why I try not to be so embarrassed when I tell people that I went by Pluto for all of eighth grade. No, really. Even my teachers called me it! And better yet, they called me Pluto with Arkansan accents. "Plu-toh." They'd separate it like that. Oh, the humanity. Oh, the embarrassment!
My name is Jordan, and since the start of high school, I've gone by Jordie. There's too many people who share my name. It gets frustrating, embarrassing, and irritating when five of us turn at the sound of our name. I also wanted to try to feminize it a little more - there are girls like me out there with the name, but it's a bit more rare.
Finally, most people online - even the ones who know my real name - call me Ana. It's never bothered me... actually, I've started thinking it's freaking adorable.

@LizzieCollins: Good reasons for using your own nickname. Although I've caught a pattern nowadays, that people just decide to go by names given to them by friends or family, rather than give themselves one.
And I have to agree, some nicknames are so strange for some people, you have to wonder how they even get them in the first place! I've met someone called Rainbow when she wore plainly-toned clothes, or dark ones.
@Anaxilea: How interesting. Pluto, they called you? One can only wonder where they decided to come up with that name. I suppose it would have been better had they not separated it...
I've only ever met boys or men with the name Jordan; is not bad to meet a Jordan of the opposite sex, especially one who can make it sound like it fits them a bit easier.
But I think everyone from my online past will always call me Kai. Is just how I got to be known, even after they know my real name.

People are normally curious about my eye, and I'm not hesitant to share the story with them; it was about six months ago it happened, my friends and I had left the States for Mexico on an incredibly-long road trip, and we did little odd jobs to make money for what we needed. On our way back to the car, about noon, a couple people approached us and one drew a knife. I pushed my partner back but got the worst of the blade, ending in a swift slash across my right eye and down my face. Needless to say, incredibly painful, but at least my partner was safe. Nothing could save my eye, so after we got to where we were supposed to go, I decided to get a replacement instead of wandering around with a patch and being called Captain Sparrow all the time (even though I endured it while I had the replacement for a while).
So with that, I got one, made specially for me, and now I go by Eyes.
But any nickname is a good nickname. I call our single, childless friend "Mama" because she hates it, but only to poke a bit of fun at her. She can take it. And is all right. No one needs a 'cool' nickname. Simply having one that sets you apart from others is enough.

Yeah, also you can steal nicknames from people too. >=) That is what I kind of did to get my online nickname. ;) Although I did make up my online last name.
Hm... a "cool" nickname is never a good idea. Sometimes it can lead you into a world of trouble.

My sister and her ex both call me "Saddlebags" because I'm tiny and have a big butt. XD He neighs after saying it which makes it funnier.
Other than that, people call me sis or Rei, which is a variation of my middle name.

@Lizzie Collins: I do my best not to steal a nickname from someone. I mean, if we share one, it's usually of pure coincidence, but otherwise it's nice to let it come naturally.
@Ahill: I would not consider it herpic. It's what I had to do, and I did it. They were after me in the first place, and if anyone were to be hurt other than me, it would have been a terrible thing. I take the injury, and the name that comes with it, and use it to teach myself and others. As long as I still have one eye, it's all that really matters to me. As for Danger, that is rather interesting. It sets the stage to be a huge misnomer if instead of being set up for trouble later on, he is calm and placid.
@Mystic: I think that would be the best one so far! Especially if you like it as much as they seem to.

Oh, certainly. One must leave room to make fun of themselves. I'm not so sure, but recently my friends have been calling me Katana, because when I play the game Left 4 Dead 2, I always look for one to use. I fear if I don't stop using the katana soon, the name will stick! But I love it so much...

My grandpa calls me Chuckie or Chuck. He says that would have been my name if I had been a boy (not true  ). He does the same with my mom and aunt, he calls them Fred and Myron. Note that none of these names bear any particular resemblance to our real names.

I don't personally have a nickname, although my friends and I have been known to call ourselves the Heem Team and refer to each other as Heemers. I have no idea how it caught on, but it's been that way for at least a few months now.
