awww...

im so glad they finally got rid of Friday!\
however, there are still some videos up of it :(

Codette 07-05-2011 08:46 PM

what are you talking about?

D A R L I N G 07-06-2011 12:10 AM

I'm confused, too... D:

I thought maybe it was some kind of t.v. show?

Dexter Morgan 07-06-2011 12:22 AM

If I'm not mistaken, I think she means Rebecca Black's song, Friday. It was a YouTube video (then it spread all over).

LoveAria 07-06-2011 12:34 AM

Yeah, I'm with ya there.
I sing that every Friday, totally not on purpose.

Codette 07-06-2011 12:34 AM

ah. Thanks Dexter.

I hate Rebecca Black... granted though I hate most modern pop artists.

Dexter Morgan 07-06-2011 12:40 AM

Not a problem, Codette.

I don't necessarily hate Rebecca herself. Mostly her 'music' and the fact that she thinks she is a good singer. Thirteen is far too young to be clouded with the media's attention. Although I agree with your hatred of most modern pop artists. Music is really heading south nowadays.

Sir D . L O Van Lobsters 07-06-2011 12:43 AM

I want to know how much money she made since he song got popular.

Dexter Morgan 07-06-2011 12:51 AM

I do believe it's well over a million dollars. She did not write the song itself, but owns it, and all money earned in sales goes to her.

CandyLand 07-06-2011 02:53 AM

The masterpiece is gone?! /sarcasm
Although the song is the most grating thing ever, part of me feels bad for the girl. To be known forever for something stupid you did when you were thirteen would be horrible. Just imagine her ten years down the line when she's applying for jobs, god forbid if the interviews are ever on a Friday. xD
Do you know why it was taken down though? That seems like sort of a random decisions.

Dexter Morgan 07-06-2011 03:02 AM

I believe it was due to a copyright claim by Rebecca Black, and a dispute between Black and Ark Music, who says they wrote the song. When Ark Music put the video behind a paywall that charged $2.99 to view it, Black had it taken down.

I know a bit too much about this, no?

Mystic 07-06-2011 03:13 PM

I figured it had something to do with copyright since she didn't write the song to begin with.

Projectwolfie 07-06-2011 03:39 PM

So wait, a company actually wrote that? Oh god, is the CEO a monkey?

I knew it was a copyright dispute and they really didn't hammer that out in the beginning, but I didn't think they would have a legit claim like actually writing that. o.O

Ottersaurus 07-06-2011 08:04 PM

I kind of feel like making a music video/song is a fun thing for girls her age to do, but... I really don't think it should have become as popular as it was/is. It's going to stick with her forever now, and it's kind of sad. The lyrics to the song itself are really what make it awful. All in all, it's got a good beat to it and it's catchy. But the lyrics and the horrific display of lack of grammar skills make me personally want to pull my hair out. That coupled with the way she sang it kind of made the whole song simply atrocious. I think I remember seeing her sing something else for someone in another video somewhere and she really didn't sound that bad. But for whatever reason she decided to inadvertently troll the whole media world instead, in my opinion.

Seradinea 07-07-2011 08:00 AM

Umm are you talking about the movie Friday? I don't understand what you are talking about I am a little confused. @[email protected]

Dexter Morgan 07-07-2011 08:04 AM

Otter; I think her voice sounded quite... mechanical. Like a robot trying to sing. Although one could easily change their name if they hold regret for something they did, and now their name is extremely well-known for it. But troll the media world? I'm not so sure. Trolling it being aware that you are doing what you are doing, while I believe she was just looking for a little early publicity. A little too early, if you ask me.

Seradinea: We speak of the song Friday, the YouTube video by Rebecca Black.

Seradinea 07-07-2011 08:09 AM

I have never heard Of her before :(

Dexter Morgan 07-07-2011 08:10 AM

Really? It was an absolute Internet sensation, and not in a good way. I'm not sure where you can find it, but I'll take a look to see if there are any videos still available.

Here it is!

Ottersaurus 07-07-2011 08:19 AM

Dexter; She does sound a bit robotic. Isn't that what mainstream media is after these days though? :XD I choose to believe she was trolling. I don't want to face the reality I think. Even if she didn't realize what she was doing, it all looks like a fantastic case of troll to me.

Dexter Morgan 07-07-2011 08:26 AM

Robotic just does not seem to fit with the music style she was going for. And it looks like she was a very successful troll, no? Everyone on the Internet hates her for putting out that disaster zone of a song, and still famous she is.

Ottersaurus 07-07-2011 08:30 AM

No, it really doesn't. I think it would have actually sounded moderately okay if she would have dropped the robot-voice. I guess if you're looking for fame you can get it in a variety of ways. I have to hand it to her though, she definitely got her name out there. That's a big accomplishment for someone her age.

Dexter Morgan 07-07-2011 08:34 AM

Certainly. If she had lightened up that voice, made it a little more clear, I think it would have improved the quality. But not even the best singers in the world could override the terrible lyrics. I'm not even sure why Ark Music would even dare admit to writing it!

Ottersaurus 07-07-2011 08:36 AM

I'm not sure either. I've tried to think of a few different reasons as to why they would...just... Grammar, what is? The tune itself is catchy enough but I wanted to scream thinking about the lyrics. I don't even understand... Like with the whole "yesterday was Thursday" spiel. And "we so excited"? I almost feel embarrassed for the company.

Dexter Morgan 07-07-2011 08:47 AM

The tune was all right. I do admit that. But the lyrics were insanity. All I heard throughout? FUN, FUN, FUN, FUN, FUN, FUN.... No! It's not fun! It will drive us to jump off a cliff! Is that fun? If it ends this song any time soon, I consider that fun!

Blossom:D 07-08-2011 05:39 AM

I think that the saddest thing is that grown men at the record label actually wrote that stuff and conned some poor little girl into singing it, but honestly, what was Rebecca expecting? Her parents paid her way to stardom... just not in the good way.
