I have the word "science" on the inside of my bottom lip. That one was a birthday present from one of my buddies.
For my next birthday, I'm thinking about getting the Alpha and Omega symbols tattooed on the tops of my feet. It's all good. :)

I got my first tattoo when I was 27. I had been thinking about it and planning it for over two years. I decided long ago, that if I wanted a tattoo, I would have to want the same tattoo in the same place for over a year. (I also decided that it would have to be in a place where if i wanted to, it could go seen or unseen- basically for work concerns.)
I had mine designed by a tattoo artist. We went through several designs until I was satisfied with one I liked. It is an Ouroboros wrapped around my right thigh above my knee. basically, it is a black and red snake biting its tail wrapped from front to back all the way around my leg. It also covers a fairly terrible scar I had there from when I had a tumor removed.
I am now contemplating another tattoo- it would be a lot more detailed and probably take several sessions to complete. It would be a photo-realistic Sonoran desert scene on my back with a quarter sleeve on my left arm. This one will take a lot more planning and a very good artist.

Tattoos.
Well, i've got mixed opinions on them. Tasteful tattoos are awesome, artsy ones too!
But getting nasty tattoos of beer mugs? bleeeeh.
And all those crappy 'Chinese' tattoos? Half of them aren't correct in Chinese.
While I do actually make tattoo designs myself every now and then, and I have seen some very tasteful tattoos (a friend has a really gorgeous tree of life tattoo, and another has the actual Chinese for family) I myself would never get one, as I change my mind waaay to often.
So I just stick with the mehendi (henna) my grandmother gets me from India and do whatever I want when I want it XD

I only ever plan on getting one tat, and that's when I'm rich enough that a visible one won't matter. See, the one I want stretches from my left anckle, to my right middle finger....Can you guess it?

I love tattoos, I love how most of them
have a meaning to them and how they
affect someone's life.
Right nooow, I'm studying to become
a tattoo artist. :B
I'd like to get a homunculus symbol
tattoo on my wrist, a pixelated pikachu
and ash on my forearm and old e lettering
also on my forearm that say "La trinidad."
Which means trinity in spanish as an
homage to my father and his homeland
which he can never return to because of
the on going cartel problems.

I think tattoos are something that require a lot of thought and commitment. Personally I wouldn't get one because I don't know what I'd like on me that I wouldn't start regretting later on. Some tattoos are better than others in my eyes.

I like tattoos on myself.
I have no opinion on tattoos in general for other people. I think a tattoo should be a personal thing. If the wearer likes it, that's all that matters.
There's always removal for those who no longer like them. Especially for the ones who get a partners name tattooed on and then split up.
I have three out of the five I want. All mine are symbols of things important to my life
Heart - Love
Tribal Eye - Protection from Evil
Dolphin - Freedom (also, because I like to make sure I never go anywhere without a porpoise/purpose).
still to get :
Dragon - Strength
Ankh - Life
Although I got my three about 10 years ago, so I have no idea if I'll ever actually end up getting the other two. Hopefully I will.

I don't have any tattoos yet, namely because I'm broke, but my boyfriend is literally covered in them and I will probably wind up being the same way.

I like tasteful and artsy tattoos. But I think it's the person's personal choice. Since I'm underage and my parents hate tattoos, I don't have any. I'm sticking with henna for now. But I will be getting several tattoos when I can and have the money. Just a peace sign on my wrist and a few designs I'm working on. So... yeah. I'm okay with tattoos and they don't bother me. It's a personal choice, you either love em or hate em.

I currently have 3 tattoos. I want to get more. Most likely going to get a few more for my birthday and for Christmas. Since I've been living slightly on my own I haven't had the money for it. I currently have a space theme on my right forearm, a succubus demon on my left leg and a stitched up heart over my own heart (this was a memorial tattoo for my grandmother). The next tattoos I plan on getting have to do with music, my family and an angel to counter balance the demon because I believe people are a balance of good and evil.

I like tattoos. Some people have the terrible ones that can really get on your nerves, but whatever. I'm sure not everyone thinks my tattoos are good.
I have three tattoos right now. A totem pole on my arm, a button on my hand, and the word "Renatus" on the back of my neck. I won't go into an immense amount of detail right now, but the totem pole is in honor of my father. I've collected buttons since I was very young and they all tend to hold a number of memories, the button on my hand included. Lastly, Renatus is a Latin name/word meaning 'born again,' however personally has nothing to do with Christianity. I could go on and on about it, but not today! I'll probably come back to this later.
I definitely want more tattoos, but I'm not sure what they'll be of yet.

I don't have any tattoos, but several of my friends do.
I don't know that I would ever get one myself, but I do like a lot of the smaller ones, especially the ones that people get on their wrists.
I'm the type of person that changes her mind pretty much constantly about things like hairstyles, clothing, etc., though, so I worry that I would get a tattoo and love it for a few months and then wish I had gotten something else, so I'm a bit afraid to.

I think body art and body modification is a personal experience. It is something that really should have a lot of thought put into it. But, in the end, you are the one who has to live with your body and your choices.
I say if you like tattoos, spend time thinking about what you really want. I think it is a very personal expression of yourself. Some people like them, other people don't. Also remember that you are going to change as you experience more and learn more about yourself. What you like today, you may not like tomorrow.
My husband has gotten tattoos that represent different phases in his life. But even he has a tattoo that he hates now. (He got it when he was 18 and now can't stand it.) He is thinking about getting a cover job done on it.
I have also read about some semi-permanent ink that can be used if you are uncertain. I am not certain how temporary it is, but it is supposed to make the tattoo removal process easier. ( InfinitInk™)

I can totally understand why people get tattoos, but I could never get one myself. I'm too restless for that, I get easily bored with different kind of styles. Today I would love to have dragon tattoos, and tomorrow I would be drooling after one of seals. But I've heard that there's this new kind of tattoo that can be removed very easily. It would be perfect for me if I ever wanted to have a tattoo. :D It must be the one Moxie mentioned.
Edit: Oh yeah, Shotacon. Is it a zipper tattoo? :O

I love all your tattoos and ideas! You guys are creative :] And I'm glad to hear your all so smart about tattoos. I didn't hear one person say they got drunk and got an awful tattoo on their forehead... that's good news! Haha

I love tattoos ^^
But I'd prefer them on others, not myself :P Mainly because that it's permanent and quite an inconvenience at times. I also like piercings :P But again not on myself. Just as long as the tattoo looks nice XD
If I had to get one though, I'd probably get a small bar code at the back of my neck or above my ankle :P

I love the idea of tattoos. I am going to get a heart on my wrist, with tildes on each side. I've been doing that for years now with pen, so as soon as I hit 18, maybe 17, I am getting it done. I'm not sure why I've always done it, but meh. I've associated myself with it.
Then I will be getting a tear drop somewhere with "RIP Katie" around it or something, that's sort of self-explanatory. I am going to get a celtic cross with a butterfly on it on my hip. Pretty big, and a couple of others. I just really enjoy these things, and they each represent a part of me.

I think since the bar code on the neck has been so over done, that if you do it, the bottom of your foot would be an awesome place! I wonder if you could do that though, and how bad it would hurt...
