Converse stopped selling Product (RED) shoes that are already designed. I'm so mad! They were my favorite ones!! Now I have to go buy them on Amazon and it looks like all they have are size 3!!
Converse (PRODUCT) RED Chuck Taylor® Draugen Hi 106104 - Gold/Black - Free Shipping & Return Shipping - Shoebuy.com
That's my ideal pair. I'm just so frustrated! Why would you take away something that gave money to a good cause? Stupid Converse. :( It's like buying fake TOMS. It takes away the whole purpose of buying the shoes! (besides the fact that they look cool.... ah, I see why they did there.) But still!
This is the point where I would normally get so mad, I'd pound out random patterns on the keys to show my frustration because in real life, I make gibberish frustrated noises when I'm upset and flustered. But if I typed gibberish, that'd probably be breaking the rules and everyone would start typing gibberish for points. So I'll make this short. ARGH! Bloody argh!
I'm not obsessed with shoes. For a girl, I don't have that many. I'm not even obsessed with Converse. I just appreciate a decent pair of shoes that don't break. I'm also all about ethics. I can't even shop at Walmart or Forever 21 anymore because of their mass of sweatshops. Do you know how cheap the earrings are at Forever 21? No? UNDER $3. AUGH! And don't even get me started on Godiva! I love Godiva but they are some of the worst!! Do you know what goes on in most Ivory Coast chocolate farms? Child labor. Of course, because I'm some indie hippie that is obsessed with informing you about all of the issues, right? No. Child labor and working rights are my thing. I don't care about animal rights (I'm a vegetarian for religious reasons). I mean, it's sad. But it's not my thing. I spent a year writing a paper on child sex slavery in the United States. It's sick. Just sick. It kept me up at night crying because I knew it was happening and all I could do was write about it!
The point is, you don't rape kids. You don't steal them from their parents. You don't sell your own. You don't give little boys machetes and leave them to chop a thousand chocolate fruit miles away from a hospital.
How did I get here from Converse? Causes. You don't stop helping a cause. You just don't. So I'm mad at Converse for not donating that 1 or 2% to Product (RED) to help fight AIDS.
I want happy shoes.

$60 for a pair of shoes? I'll pass, no matter the cause. I don't even have six bucks, let alone sixty.

Fortunately my parents buy my back-to-school shoes. Until I go to college, I suppose...

Man... I wrote a reply and my comp glitched. Lamez...
Anyways, It is quite sad that Converse stopped their production of RED Chucks, And by the looks of them they are quite gorgeous. And I do wish I had a pair. I have 8 already. HeHe, but usually with products like RED Chucks that give to a cause are limited edition items and go out of sale. I'm sure that in a few years or so they will re-issue them.
Plus, you could write them and see why they canceled them. They could've been sending more money than they were making. Which is never in a businesses eyesight.
I do enjoy that your rant about Chucks changed to walmart, sex and child labor.
(I do find it sad and not cool at alls. [Insert sad day emote here] )
----------
Plus, if you look at the clearance rack you can usually get two pairs of Converse for the same price as one. 50% off on clearance racks sets the price down to about 35 dollars. Once I got two pairs for 36 dollars when it was buy one get one free on clearance racks. >83

They look awesome, they really do. I could easily make a couple of outfits to go with those shoes.
$60 for shoes isn't really that surprising, my work shoes were $50 and I got them only for the comfort [hey, I stand on my feet for 6+ hours a day, I *need* comfortable shoes!]. Used to get a pair of Sketchers a year, those can easily cost well over $60 a pair.

I went on Etsy and bought a pair of hand painted ones I really liked. Sure I could have done it myself but what fun is always looking at your own art? You'd already know all of it's secrets! They're a bit over $100 but I don't mind, they're unique. :) my parets paid half and I paid half, so yes, there was some sacrifice. The designs are water proof and I think I'll really enjoy wearing them around. I also know that the money will go to an independent artist instead of a huge, sweatshop owning company and that makes me feel good. So yay! I'll get them in about a week or so!

Not exactly my cup of tea but pretty cute.
I would consider it a blessing however that they don't have my size because I would never pay $60 for a pair of shoes. I have some cute black and silver converse I recently bought for $25 at Marshall's. I can't understand paying outrageous prices for clothing period, but shoes especially.

I like shoes but I only have two pair and one is Vans and the other is American Eagle flat shoes. I wouldn't buy that shoe for sixty dollar, no matter the cause, it's quite ugly in my perspective. I know my Vans costed 50 dollars and my mother bought it for me to go back to school in. That was three years ago or something though. I would want to buy my own shoe with my own money, but for now, since I am broke, I'm going to fricking save. :) Though whatever you like, whatever cause you want to help, go ahead and do it. Sorry if you're frustrated that it's out, hopefully you'll find something better.

Yeah, I didn't expect many responses. I just needed to type it out and I thought I might as well get gold while I do that. :) I don't usually wear expensive things. I refuse to wear vests that are more that $50 and I wear a lot of t-shirts and jeans. I try not to get my jeans from Walmart, Gap is actually a better company when you compare work ethics. If you ever want to check out a company or where I get a lot of this information the website is here: Free2Work, Corporate Responsibility, Slave Labor, Watch List - Free2Work
So yeah, I may buy expensive things sometimes like Starbucks and Gap but at least I know that what I'm buying is fair trade.
If you don't know about sweatshops or forced labor, I think you really should. There are a lot of people that get hurt because of it and there are many ways we can prevent it, even from our own homes.
About the child slavery, I suggest you look up Love146.org

I go to Savers for clothes and Walmart for shoes. I can get half a dozen pairs of jeans for sixty bucks, and a pair of shoes for $10 if I look in the right place. There's nothing wrong with my clothing, either. Someone else wore it, so what. Wash it, and it's fine.
And anyone trying to tell me "DONT SHOP AT WALMART ITS BAD!" - I work there, I know. And I have a limited budget, so I can't afford to get all these fancy nice things. I don't even want to.

Okay, I don't mind. I realize that not everybody cares about the same stuff I do. I'm lucky, I have some money and my parents help me out a lot. I know that. I'm not going to target people and tell them what they're doing is wrong. I'll tell them what I'm doing and suggest some things.
If you don't want to listen to me, you don't have to. It's just a post and honestly, I'm not offended.
I also hope I haven't offended you and that you see why I talk about these things. I don't expect everyone to listen to me. I just hope that there are some people out there that share my cause. I'm sure the people that don't necessarily agree with me are still wonderful people that do great things everyday.

Clair is not very girly herself. She doesn't do much clothe/shoe shopping... but she loves her Converse. @ [email protected] She has so many different pairs that she wants to get, that she has to limit herself to one pair every autumn. LUCKILY! This year, Clair's dad decided he would "help her out with college"... by buying me my Autumn Converse. It's not much, but that gives me more I can put towards my books. >.<
