I always wanted braces when I was a kid, and my friends told me a million times thats they're really painful, now I know what they mean. My orthodontist said that technically, it's just discomfort..which is extremely true. Everytime my teeth touch, it just feels weird..like they moved or changed position. As far as I know, my teeth aren't loose. I just feel like pulling these things off.

I hate these things.. :gonk:

UGH I HATED having braces!
My advice: When your orthodontist tells you to do something (eg, wear your elastics, don't eat taffy etc)

I didn't and I had to have mine on for an extra year! My parents had to bribe me with promises of hard-cover first-edition books XD

They told me to eat pizza with a fork and a knife.. *sigh*

I remember my braces... Made eating an apple extra difficult. :lol:

Make sure you keep them clean like your life depends on it. :gonk:

I never had braces ^^ But I did have a retainer, which is slightly less awful. I would take it out all the time and leave it in the most random places. Got really gross..Probably why I didn't have a lot of friends in middle school. ):

Like everyone in my family but me had them at one point. I have a few teeth that are crooked on the bottom but I said no to braces since it's not bothering me in any way. I was 25 at the time too so I figured that nothing could really help by that point since they were like that for years except for pulling my wisdom teeth out. I also refuse to do that since they do not cause problems at all.

I have a guard for night time because I grind my teeth. That's the only dental thing that I've ever had aside from fillings.

Well. Me and my seventeen year old crooked teeth are jealous. =w=;

I am slightly jealous. My family couldn't afford that kind of thing. We have white teeth, but I have an extra tooth that makes my teeth look ugly. xD

Stupid crooked teeth. Your teeth will look really pretty once everything is done and over with. <3

My friend got braces some where around middle school and she got them off, a year or two. I've heard they're uncomfortable and etc but I think I need them but at the same time. I'm quite happy with who I am even if my teeth are jacked in weird position. I'm sorry that you're uncomfortable and I hope you have many memories of your braces. >>;

I feel your pain... I had braces for 5 years. T_T Totally awful. And for some odd reason, really bad canker sores runs in my family. I mean, the simplest slight bump against my lips or cheeks and I've got a canker sore the size of a dime the next day... mix this with braces... Yeah, not fun. >:'(

i currently have braces. once you have them they do hurt but after a while they stop hurting. mostly mine hurt if the wires are changed or if they push on my teeth ect.

They suck.
I had to have them twice.

I've never had braces, and my teeth are not squint enough to warrant them, though they'e a little squint due to what I was doing when my teeth were growing in. I also wouldn't want braces.

Gaah! D: You had them twice!? Ugh, one of my little sisters has had them twice, but she's the only person I've ever heard of them doing that with... Ugh.

I had braces! I did my best to do as I was told o.O
But I'm ashamed to say, I haven't been using my retainer at night. Man!
But I refuse to get them again! So there xD If my life depended on it then fine haha!
But my teeth weren't even that bad to begin with >.>

But I did like choosing the colors!
I was a dork and did holiday colors when it was time ^^
but if it was a non-holiday, I usually did light blue & pink

I only had braces from The middle of may in my Freshman year of high school
and the middle of may til my Sophomore year. So mine weren't on for long at all! <3
(It was either Sophomore or Junior can't remember! o.O)

I just got braces too! Well, not too long ago would probably be more precise, about a month or two now, haha.
They do get annoying at first, especially since it feels like there's always something in your mouth and have the feeling that your teeth feel like they're going to fall out, but that just takes a little getting used to. Once you get used to them they're not that bad.
And the results will probably be satisfying in the long run so I'd say just try coping with them for now and look towards the future. n___n

Same here, but my teeth are older. :S

A lot of dentist told me I needed braces, but my fam couldn't afford them. :( Also now that I don't have any dental coverage, I also needed my wisdom teeth extracted (since their impacted). DX!

Oh well, I heard braces will help in the long run. The pain is worth it after a long while or short while. :S Man... I'm going to have pain when I get mine.

I had braces for three years. It was painful and I hated them but it was worth it. My teeth were SO messed up that my top canine teeth weren't growing in (there was no room because my other teeth were that crooked. I had lost the baby teeth two years prior to getting my braces and within two weeks of having the braces they were already growing in). It was so worth it. I get compliments on them all the time and I got them off 8 years ago.

I STILL wear my retainer at night time. I don't want all that money to go to waste. My boyfriend had braces when he was younger and apparently didn't wear his retainer so they moved back. So then he had to get them on a SECOND time. So what they did was glue a wire retainer to the back of his teeth so it's permanently in there. But at least his teeth look nice lol

It was painful when they tightened them.
But I got this wax stuff and you put that on the teeth that hurt
and poof! No more hurt :D
But it was annoying getting the stuff off, but it was worth it.
