With the lights off and the dog bowl over flowing, we leave as the Friday night life just wakes up. We'll live in our tiny moving home for the next six hours, stopping only on occasion. It's a road trip.
What are yours like?

*laughs* my family road trips. 5 people and a dog (or 2 depending on which trip this is) packed into a saburban with a trailer behind, packed with camping gear. A road map of the areas we're going. A reservation to a camp ground, and 16 hours to get there. So long as we're at the camp ground in time to set up before its too dark, we do what we want.
My family is famous for "hey that looks cool can we go see?" and my dad cranking the wheel to make the turn-off. Thats how I got to see an Amethyst mine, Fort Henry (haunted fort in Kingston, Ontario, seen on Creepy Canada), Peggys Cove, the Great Lakes, and so much more. We love side trips ^.^

I thought for a moment you were posting lyrics. Haha! Well. you painted a picture anyway.
Love a good road trip. It's been awhile though! I would love to hit the road again very soon.

I despise road trips. I guess my number one reason being because I get extremely car sick if I do anything but sit quietly in a car. If we're driving for long periods of time, I can't talk, I can't draw, or read, etc. I'm no fun on a road trip because doing any of the typical things people might do while on the road make me sick to my stomach and give my horrible head aches (because of the motion and what not) so I never enjoy them.
I am, unfortunately because of what I wrote above, the shame of my family. Both extended and "home" family.
I love to travel, but if I could get rid of the time getting between destination A and destination B, I'd enjoy traveling more. I like seeing new places, experiencing the different things in different places, but I HATE the actual 'traveling' portion of any trip. :( Which is a huge bummer. I wish I didn't get so car sick.

Aww Clair, that is a shame. I love travelling and don't really mind the actual travel parts.
I'm really glad I don't really get carsick. I mostly just end up having to pee a lot.
I'm usually the driver too, which I don't mind too much. I usually just zone waaay out for road trips.
When I'm the passenger, I don't read or play games though sometimes I do use my phone for internet checking.
I don't even really listen to music. Once we get out of range of our city's towers, I just set the radio to scan and listen to that. Sometimes I'll put in a CD though, or listen to whatever is on my phone, but it's not a must for me.
I also freeze myself for some reason. I put the AC up and have it blow on me for most of the trip. Which, I get cold easily, so when I drive around town, I have to set the fans away from me. :XD

Well my most recent road trip was a couple of weeks ago, and included my daughter for the first time :) She's almost one. We drove almost four hours to the beach spent the day there and got home at 2 in the morning, she slept the whole way home lol My husband drove there and I drove back. We got pulled over once on the way there for my husband speeding although I kept saying, you're speeding, you're speeding again, you're speeding... He didn't speed again after the cop told him he was speeding. Mo-ron. Anyway, my daughter nurses and gets antsy in the car for too long, so we stopped once to let her out and feed her and once for gas, and once more for a beach pass and some beer for my husband and his brother who we were meeting down there. It was really fun. The ocean was beautiful, my daughter had the time of her life, we saw dolphins three feet from us for at least an hour, watched the sun set, it was a perfect day :)

I definitely take dramamine. Usually we listen to booktapes together in the car (it's how we got into Harry potter before the movies) but sometimes I just pass out. Having a smartphone helps some but I get dizzy from it easily.
