Ah yeah... In my Spanish 2 class last year. I think the verb was like 'poder' or something and in the... preterite tense in one of the forms it changes to 'puse' (poo-say/pus-sy) and this one guy would always hop up and say "I like me some Spanish puse!" My teacher didn't think it was too funny, but it was hilarious.
And the other day I was eating at Denny's with a friend and they had a special that was the 'Spicy Cowboy Burger' but what I read was 'Sexy Cowboy Burger'. I've had others, but usually it's things my phone autocorrects that's just plain out weird. Like one time I was just trying to say 'yeppers' and my phone corrected it in this order: -Tellers! -Yeppets! -Reports! -Trouser! -Reports! -Triodes! -Tellers! -Reports! -Reports! -Mother ducker! Reports! -Omfg! Reports! -God admit! -Yeppers! There! Theta what I was trying to say! -I meant yeppets... -Admit! -Yeppers! -Jester Crouch! (supposed to be Jesus Christ, I dunno why it corrected to that, but I say it now so... whatever.) Yeah.... It's mainly autocorrect WTF's for me. |
@Mystic: Ohh, can I see? :eager: |
I double-take all the time now that I live in Japan since there's English writing everywhere, but a lot of it is strange ("Engrish"). T-shirts and signs especially catch me off guard since they'll catch my eye whenever I'm out and about.
One of my students came to school with "Nihilism" in bold face on his shirt. We have a shop downtown named "Sperm". :lol: And one random shop's sign I pass by occasionally downtown has "Fuck head" written on it for no apparent reason. (It's not the name of the shop, although I would laugh if it was.) |
Lets see, things that make me do a double take:
-Old cars(early 60s - late 70s, or older) -Restaurant menus, since I work in a restaurant myself -Some wording in books -The radio(sometimes you think you heard something weird...I swear >.>) -People I think I recognize -My phones auto-correct...I don't understand how you get friends out of resend -Girls with a perfect ass(imo)....kinda surprised I didn't see anything related to this one yet. :ninja: |
I once misread a sign out loud. :lol:
The sign read "Welcome back to School!" (it was the beginning of the school year). But for some reason, I read it "Back is welcome School to." ...and I read it OUT LOUD like that! I read it, read it out loud "Back is welcome school to...? WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT EVEN MEAN!?" My friends all looked at me like I was crazy. :oops: It was probably one of the oddest things I've ever done. And lately I've been doing a lot of "double takes" because the book I'm reading has A LOT of grammatical and spelling errors... Like, I'm stunned by how many mistakes I keep finding in the simplest of words in this book. :/ It makes me wonder if the book ever saw an editor... |
Ok so I was at a state fair a little while ago with some friends. we got cotton candy and stuff stuck on us so we went to look for a restroom so we could wash up. so about five of us are walking on the main road looking for one and we see a sign that says 'restrooms this way-->'. so we all started to go to the right when my guy friend was like 'hey everybody! read the sign below it!' guess what it said?
'water games this way -->' XD lol we all started cracking up XD |
I had multiple double takes yesterday.
A friend of mine that moved away before the new school year came back to school because he was on break. He was very popular when he was here so he was really missed by everyone. So me and my friend Maya were walking to first lunch when Sam comes up between us. He was like: "Hey Maya, hey Alex" And we were like: "Hey Sam...SAM!" and we both gave him hugs. We had been so used to seeing him around that our minds didn't process that he wasn't supposed to be there. :P |
I just read through this thread, and some of the stuff that happens to you guys is hilariously awesome!
