Uncomfortably comfortable sleep positions

Have you ever fallen asleep in the weirdest spot or position where you woke up thinking, how in the heck did that happen? Lol What was it?

Have you ever found that you actually couldn't fall asleep without getting into some weird and seemingly uncomfortable position?

The times I find the weirdest are when I go to sleep with my head on my pillow, and wake up with my head at the foot of my bed, or I'm laying sideways across my bed lol I wake up thinking, what in the world happened? :D

Better yet, have you ever woke up wonder how you got where you are at all? Lol

i often wake up on the floor and don't remember falling.

i also fall asleep quickest (of all places) sitting up, leaning against the car window. only while the car is moving, though.
otherwise my sleeping position is random.

I remember learning in driving school about how a moving car can put you to sleep really easily. Especially if you're driving. It's so true. I've had to pull over and get coffee to try and stay awake at the wheel before after hours of driving on the highway. It's so dangerous!

That's because the rumble of the car is like white noise which tends to silence your alert mental functions and slow your heart rhythm, causing drowsiness. I find chewing gum helps me stay more alert. Energy drinks don't seem to have any effect whatever on me. :(

BTW, the wierdest position I've ever woken up in was with my head leaning over the edge of the bed, and me feet on the windowsill..... yes, I was sideways....

The Wandering Poet 11-08-2011 09:00 PM

Well I did wake up wondering why my wife was sleeping on the floor this morning XD

When I was younger I used to roll out of bed all the time... waking up under the bed across the room XD

p o p p e t ♥ 11-08-2011 09:02 PM

Lol Poet why was your wife in the floor!? If you're anything like my husband it's because you flail around too much -.- lol

Elwing 11-08-2011 09:12 PM

I never fall asleep on strange places, I can only sleep in a bed,
but sometimes after a dream, I wake up with my arms up,
supporting my head, and they are all numb XD

Muliette 11-08-2011 09:19 PM

I tend to sleep on my side or sprawled out a looooot XD

Mystic 11-08-2011 10:55 PM

I woke up in a bath tub a few times. I also woke up on my bathroom floor and still don't know how that one happened. I also one time fell asleep outside on my porch. I mean sometimes I do sleep on my porch but that night it was just because I was drunk and fell asleep and my sister didn't bother waking me up.

missdark 11-08-2011 11:16 PM

When I was a child I could sleep in all kinds of strange places. I would sleep in cupboards, closets, and the dirty clothes bin. (It was empty usually though) I don't know I guess I liked small tight spaces. Now I kind of curl up like a small animal and fall asleep. Sometimes I will wake up at the foot of the bed if I worked really hard the night before. It's strange.

Nonsensical 11-08-2011 11:31 PM

I'm a terrible, terrible sleeper. It's not unusual for me to end up at the bottom of my bed, on the floor, completely wound up in the sheets, throw all the sheets off the bed (then get pissed because I'm cold), my feet up on the wall, curled up in the middle of the bed... Yeah. XD

I remember I once painted my nails before going to bed and I was still in the same exact spot when I woke up as when I went to sleep.

Annnnnnd~ when I was in elementary school, I would sleep over at a friend's house and even though we'd fall asleep in the same bed around the same time, I almost always woke up on the floor. I know I sometimes I did it on purpose if she was hogging the sheets or something, but the rest... I don't know. o__o; OH. And for some reason, my butt would be in the air. XD

^ Probably for the best, though, because around that time I had to sleep with my dad's mom and sometimes I would kick her. ( Sorry...! D; )

I'm also starting to think I talk and move around (like act out the dream) in my sleep. -wants to set up a camera to see-

ShadowDemon101 11-08-2011 11:50 PM

When I was little I would start randomly kicking the wall before rolling off the bed xD;

Actually, nowadays I tend to sleep on my side curled in a ball with my covers around and then wake up with my covers on the floor and me sprawled all over owo;;

WishingMoon 11-09-2011 02:36 AM

I'm a shockingly good sleeper compared to some of you. XD I can't sleep on my back though.

I use to sleep in the empty laundry hamper with books and a blanket but other then that wasn't too bad.

I did once hick the wall behind my head and woke my dad up but I was till in a relativity normal sleeping position.

Cat Eye 11-09-2011 04:18 AM

There has been plenty of times where I slept in one room and woke up in another-my bedroom and the living room being those two rooms.

nike13 11-09-2011 05:28 AM

The worst I have is this position where my wrist is folded under my body (usually I'm on my side and have rolled onto my stomach and my arm just gets folded/trapped). I never realize I'm like that until I wake up not knowing where my hand is. It's very freaking to wake up from what feels like a deep sleep thinking that someone chopped your hand off. And it just wiggles for a few minutes as I try to massage it back to life.

Freaks me out every time >__<

TheEmpressofEvil 11-09-2011 06:10 AM

If I fall asleep on couches or chairs I can wake up still laying on my tummy but half of me is on the couch/chair clinging to it and the other is on the floor. What surprises me is my back never hurts when that happens..

Once, when my great grandmother and I came home from the grocery store, I fell asleep in her floor while leaning over a huge bag of toilet paper we had just bought. I woke up drooling lol I find that I drool when I fall asleep in truely uncomfortable positions  She was really sick and was feeling lightheaded and nauseas, so I didn't want to leave her. She fell asleep in her rocker, and I in the floor in front of her, staring at her lol

The Wandering Poet 11-09-2011 07:37 PM

@ Kya - Actually... it's typically me that's pushed around... XD she likes to spread out. She probably pushed me, however being in the corner it pushed me into the wall pushing her back and off the bed

@ Nike - I hate that feeling... though worse is when both feet fall asleep, and without knowing it jumping out of bed to turn off the alarm XD doesn't work...

This!!!
This happens to me all the time.
A lot of times, I'll also end up on the floor, all rolled up in my covers.

GypsyDancer 11-10-2011 02:33 AM

Oh, yes! Currently I'm sleeping on our couch due to room renovations and sometimes I'll fall asleep on my stomach and wake up with my head on the floor, my arm on the couch and one foot dangling off the back of the couch and I have no idea how I end up like that without any sort of crick in my neck or sore arm. One time I woke up and I was just sitting when I know I went to sleep laying down. As a kid I slept with my mom and dad and one night my dad was away at a horse show so it was just me and my mom and I went to sleep with my head on my pillow and feet under the covers and when I woke up my feet were on the pillow and my head was under the covers. I have no idea how I turned around like that, but I was scared when I woke up cause I didn't know where I was. There was this other time where I was in my room sleeping and I had managed to flip off the bed and wake up with my feet and butt flat against the wall. I've woken up in stranger places, such as my bathtub with my butt in the air and once in my dad's barn with the goats. -shrug- But driving never makes me sleepy, I guess I'm such a nervous driver that it keeps me alert all the time.

I curl up into a tiny ball and sleep under my desk. It's rather comfy, because I feel more closed in and safe. I have the mentality of a cat.

p o p p e t ♥ 11-10-2011 03:27 PM

Last night I slet on my stomach for like an hour! Lol I'm excited because I LOVE sleeping on my stomach, but I haven't in almost two years, since I was pregnant and now I'm nursing and it could mess with my milk supply.

Sighh, oohhh I miss sleeping on my facceee :(

D.o.l.l. 11-10-2011 04:25 PM

Well I pretty much wake up in all sorts of wierd positions because of my boyfriend. He tends to like to cuddle with me in the middle of the night and I wake up with an elbow or knee bending me backwards X_x it tends to be quite painful and I'm amazed I can sleep like a pretzel.

Other times I fall asleep sideways in a comfy chair as in head and feet hanging off the arms. I used to fall out of bed and end up under things and I've done the sideways and backwards thing too in bed. But I'm one who you get me in a car and I'm wide eyed and bushy tailed, while the rest of my family including the driver O.O is dozing. I'm like HOW DO YOU DO IT I NEED SECRETS NOW!!!

x-cutie-x-pie-x 11-11-2011 04:31 PM

I can sleep right up next to the wall. D:

Other times I'm just sprawled out. But then I also kick my bedsheet about and every morning half of it is just on the floor. >>

makituchan 11-12-2011 01:10 AM

Well, once I woke up INSIDE my bed covers with my blanket and a pillow. I was like okaay where am I and how did I get there, lol.
Then I spent next 20 minutes trying to find my way out.
I still don't understand how did it happen.
