Wow, that's a lot of free discounted things that a veteran can get. I'm quite envious at them but they deserve it. ^^

hummy 11-11-2011 02:54 PM

there are actually a lot more things.
it's not very well promoted since people like for you to pay full price.

denny's offers a ten percent discount on your total meal with a military identification card every single day.

I rarely eat out and I don't actually mind. o.o; I've never been to Denny's or those other places. xD But I can see how it's an unfairness how they do not get to pay and while we who did not serve have to. ^^;

Ikuto Akihiko Hasegawa 11-11-2011 04:13 PM

Oh yeah! I forgot that we eat free. :eager: Thanks for reminding me! I should go to Lowe's to get some stuff. xDDD
Going to Chili's later on too. :boogie:

but it's just one day.
on the day that the service members are recognized forr their sacrifice and dedication to country.
hummy thnks that they get off easy!
if you understood the sacrifice not only the servicemember makes, but their spouse and family makes you wouldn't begrudge them a six dollar meal.
some families are apart for over eighteen months, in a dangerous sandbox.
babies are born, birthdays are had, anniversaries are missed and marriages crumble.
it is a verry difficult life, but most service members serve with prfide of country and dedication to God, country and family.
and yes, family always comes last.

I love Veteran's Day!
But at the same time, I hate the really cocky veterans who like to brag about their war injuries... That's a super triggering subject for me, while I appreciate what they gave up to protect America, I don't like it when they talk about injuries like hunting trophies...
Not everyone wants to hear about how your lost your arm... or how your fellow private lost his eyeballs or something...

hummy 11-12-2011 12:19 AM

lol, lillianfaye.
my Godfather used to take me to the Veteran's of Forgien wars lodge.
hummy ish from a military family.
that's just they way they relieve their 'glory' days.

but yeah, no one wants to hear the eyeball story.

kittykondos 11-12-2011 12:46 AM

Today i was in a veterans day parade. It was really nice and i am glad to have been apart of it.

LillianFaye 11-12-2011 02:38 AM

hummy:

Military families are AWESOME. c:
I really admire the veterans, and I really appreciate what they do for our country. But yeah, when I read you said, "Glory days" my mind automatically said, "Gory days".
It's just a triggering topic for me, I really avoid hearing stories involving guns, and war and blood.

TheEmpressofEvil 11-12-2011 02:46 AM

Yep! My dad took advantage of so much of the free stuff for veterans today and he went to visit a nearby base just to meet other veterans and be respectful to currently serving officers that someday will be veterans.

hummy 11-12-2011 05:07 AM

hummy hopes all our active, reserve and retired military members had an excellent day.
thank you for all you are doing and have done for our country.
your service and sacrafices have not gone unnoticed nor unappreciated.
GOD SPEED!
stay safe and come home soon.

I recognize they sacrifice a lot, their lives and depend solely on thinking on the job. I do wish that sometime the marriage were saved and such but you can't forget that the other spouse gets lonely from time to time, they also have a lot of stress on their plate as well. Though I think it's quite fine they have a day to get free things, after all they are serving our country. I'm quite glad they are. There's a lot of difficult life but that's only how you perceive which life is difficult. :) I think family should come first but that's just me. o.O; Because if you have a supporting family you won't feel as lonely much. >3< It's fine, you were just saying what you thought is right or wrong. -patpat-

II Certified II 11-12-2011 09:07 AM

Is it today? Hmmm I think it's only in your country though. We don't celebrate it here in the same day.

you should totally do your veteran's day too, Certified.

PAPA JOHN'S PIZZA
has a USO deal still going on.
it's not only for veteran's either.
it's the USO meal deal ~~ two large, one topping pizza's for twenty dollars.
one dollar from each pizza is donated to the USO!
that's a great deal.
support our troops!

hummy 11-14-2011 09:38 PM

don't forget to go to golden corral today between the hours of five and nine *seventeen and twenty-one hundred.
and remember the disabled American Veteran's will be looking for contributions.
they do really good work, so if you can spare some change please drop it in the can.
i always leave the flower too because that takes monies to buy as well.
they also have a lifelong membership.
i think it starts at two hundred and something dollars and decreases with age.
some of the discounts are for hotels, direct television *i think* and survivors benefits.
it's something like two thousand dollars a month for daily expenses.
i should have paid attention to my father when he was talking about this.
but, yeah, check it out.

enjoy your free meal today, Veteran's.
and thank you for your everyday, mostly unnoticed sacrifice and service!

hummy 11-15-2011 05:48 PM

i totally enjoyed the meal at golden corral last night.
the steak was outrageous!
the owner of my local golden corral is a veteran and he really goes the extra mile.
he shakes every single military members hand and thanks them personally for the sacrifice and service they give to their country.
he talks for hours with the older veterans too, which you can see, makes them very happy and gives them a feeling of being wanted.
the free meal was great, but the commrader spirt was even better.
if you know a veteran or an active duty service member, give them thanks for all they do for our country and you!
it doesn't have to be veteran's day to do this.
they serve three hundred sixty-five days, twenty-four hours a day!

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU SACRIFICE AND FOR ALL YOU DO FOR OUR COUNTRY AND FOR EACH AND EVERY PERSON!!!!
