Hand me the kleenex *sniff*

I've been stuck at home for a few days now with a cold. For the first few days I couldn't do anything, just passed out on the couch. Then yesterday, I played close to 10 hours of Persona 4 (on last dungeon finally) because I couldn't sleep and, let's face it, daytime television is icky. I've also had a serious craving for mac n cheese now cause my mom would make that for me when I was home from school.

So what do you guys/gals do when your out sick? I don't mean those "sick" days where you just don't feel like getting up either. Are there certain foods you crave to eat when you're sick?

I drink a lot of vegetable broth and tea when I'm sick. It helps settle my tummy. I also drink a lot of hot water, lemon, and bee honey. It seems to help too. It depends on how sick I am though. Sometimes I just get up and go to work and do whatever anyway while other times I just sleep it off.

I drink hot tea and I rest a lot. usually watch movies. I also make homemade pudding. my mom used to make that for me when I was sick because coughs and sore throats would make me stop eating completely, but I'd still eat pudding. It just kind of stuck for me. I do that for other sick people too. I made the bf some pudding when he was sick. I think he likes this tradition and told me we're going to do it for our kids when they're sick.

How do you have energy to make homemade pudding? That does sound like a nice tradition though, maybe I'll try that next time hubby's sick :) He's been telling me the mac n cheese isn't helping my cold but it's something that always sits well in my stomach. It also helps soak up the icky drainage since I almost always have sinus infections that make my stomach flip out.

Cute avi nike!

Hmm, it's tough now days when I'm sick. Since I'm a stay at home mom, I don't really get any "sick time off" I still have to revolve around my one year old and husband. But, even in the summer, if I get sick, I love a nice bowl of chicken noodle soup  I also drink a lot more water, and eat a little extra when my stomach can take it, of foods like, apples, yogurts, V8 juices, just healthy things to help my immune system kick some butt. Rest is really important when you're sick, but like I said, I don't get that option lol

I hope you feel better soon nike!

I dont tend to be hit that bad by colds and never really seem to get the flu but even when I get sick really badly I have 2 days of pre-sick.. the first day of "pre-sick" I'm in denial and hoping I don't get sick. By day 2 I know that its just the beginning of being sick and I'm all sad because I know I'm going to feel more miserable later. That's usually the day I make myself some pudding. Its a little preemptive that way I guess but it works for me. the pudding still makes me happy even on pre sick days cause.. it's pudding.. and pudding is awesome.

btw for people that can't handle the milk in pudding, jello is also comforting. I heard dairy type things can make some coughs and congestion worse. I've never had that problem but who knows. jello is easy too.

I only remember being out sick once. And I spent the day sleeping, then did homework at night. lol.
Mmm, Mac and Cheese. ;n; Kinda want some now too.

Usually when I'm sick and it's too the point where I wouldn't go to class and stuff (now that I'm in college) it's because I'm dying pretty much and even then I might still go to class.

I sleep...and wish I had a slave to get me a drink and go to the bathroom for me. Because I remember being sick really bad where I could barely eat or drink....and you better believe I still went to class. I WANTED THEM POINTS! And I think it's going to be hitting me again now D:

When I'm sick in bed and don't have the energy to move and shit, I just ask for some powerade or whatever and hopefully it'll pass. I crave outdoor food, typically fast food since my mother makes home food all the time. Examples are rice with fish, rice with other side dish and kimchi, etc. o.o;

Thanks to my near-perfect immune system, I rarely ever get sick. But when I do get sick, I sleep and drink a lot of fruit juice/water. And I eat chicken soup. That shit is PERFECT for a nasty cold or flu.
The worst I ever got was the stomach flu. And that was back when I was eleven. I don't remember getting any sicker than that. Other than the time in second grade we were painting birdhouses in a small shop class and I huffed a bunch of paint fumes. I threw up in the hallway. It was after lunch. I was dizzy and sick all week.

When i am sick, i just curl up on the couch with my dog and watch some television.

SexualPlacebo 11-13-2011 01:42 PM

I try and sleep through it as much as I can, then sit curled up in bed gaming or reading until i'm tired enough to go back to sleep. I dont really have any specific foods I eat, I don't think I really eat much when i'm ill, just drink plenty.

I'm really worried about getting ill right now. My 4 flatmates have been constantly sick for the past 7 weeks and I know I can't stay immune forever. I just keep taking vitamin tablets and try to keep myself away from them. xD

Lady Vengeance 11-13-2011 11:43 PM

Sadly, I'm sick at the moment as well.
I slurp chicken noodle soup because.. well, I like how cliche it is. x3
Yum, yum! <3

When I'm sick..? I pretty much just sleep it off. xD That's how I lost around five pounds a day when I had swine flu one week a couple of years ago. I was actually feeling pretty well, but almost no energy. I only felt bad when I had to start taking the medication. >:V

Did you know that Kleenex is only a brand of tissue, and they're working really hard to get people to say tissue instead of Kleenex because they could lose their brand if it becomes a common word?

missdark 11-15-2011 07:48 AM

well I hope you are feeling better. When I get that sick all I want is ice cream and orange Jell-o! That's my sick day tradition from when I would spend weeks and weeks in the hospital as a kid. I also tend to watch old Black and white movies on TMC a lot. They make me sleep better.
