Don't you hate it when you are in the middle of writing something and *boom* you don't know where to go from there. It's so infuriating! What do you do to get passed your writer's block? I myself have gotten into the habit of going to Written Kitten to type. For every one hundred words you get a cute picture of a cat =3

Is there a written puppy? xD That'd make me pure happy.

I don't really write enough literary wise to get writer's block, but I do go blank a lot when typing/writing ANYTHING. It's a shame. ):

I don't believe that there is a written puppy :(
I just started writing for myself (and not for my sadistic professors) about a year ago XD.
It's not a shame to go blank, I do it all the time (even when I'm not writing XD)

I used to write quite a lot, but I hated it all and kept trashing it so I figured giving up was a good plan. xD
I also used to roleplay a lot. That was so fun. ):

I hate when i'm having a conversation and I go blank, happens way too often for my own good, I look like such a ditzy idiot.

I wrote a lot before: school, work and for fun.

But too many distractions and pressure, I burned out.

Even if I wanted to write, I was so...out of it.

I would go into periods of voids to try and get back my groove back. But on the way to getting my groove back, I would have bouts of inspirations, so I try to write em down and tuck them away for my future self to find. I'm hopeful she'll eventually pick up on where I left off and finish it.

...There's been a time before where I wrote so much that I had no idea where to go plot-wise and figured... I was not yet ready to finish it. So I let it rest. Too much brainstorming... Too much effort, tried too hard. When I got back, stuff just...fell into place and I managed.

But normally, the best way to get away from blocks is never to push yourself beyond your limit for writing.

Push it, you are walking on a tight rope.

Get pass it... I take a break and enjoy the sunshine. Literally. Nothing makes me happier than cloud watching and cool water. A nice sundae or crepes wouldn't be so bad either. :D It's such a blessing. Or simply getting inspired by the bigger things in life and thinking 'There's still so much out there!'

Basically I fill that burned out feeling/void with positivity. Something constructive so I can get back on my feet and go back to doing what I love the most. I try not to guilt trip myself into writing again though... Not anymore. It just doesn't work that way. I only feel extra judgmental over the quality and pace of my works.

I've been able to write more lately because I'm taking a Creative Writing class at my school. You literally HAVE to write and have it turned in by a certain day each week.

I don't really like basically being forced to write on command, but it certainly has helped with writer's block. Every week I spend the first few days completely stressed out over my lack of ideas... and then normally I end up getting a really good idea for a story the day before it's due or so. It can be stressful, but it really does help.

I'm still in the class, so I haven't tried this yet, but I think I'm going to start telling myself that I have to have a certain amount of work done on a story by a certain day and try to stick to it so I actually keep writing once the class is over with.

As for actually getting the ideas, I've found that listening to music actually helps a lot. I get many of my story ideas from listening to a song and then starting to come up with a story based on it, and then going through and adding a lot of my own details and such.

I used to write a lot as a kid, for school.. pleasure, and entertaining others. I used to specialize in writing horror novels, but that's another topic.

Plenty of times had I gotten writer's block in the past and I'd always get frustrated because it'd be right when it'd be the worst moment to get the block, such as the end of a mystery or the crime scene.. or a victim being chosen.. You get the point. Back then I'd pull out my notepad and begin sketching things related to what I currently wrote to get past my writer's block.. It worked, eventually.

I wrote a lot during junor high and high school but I stopped when I wanted to focus more on my future in college. Whenever I do get a lucky streak of inspiration and soon find myself stuck, I'll open media player and listen to my favorite band to get it back. I have all of their CD's so I burned ALL of their songs onto my own special playlist for my pure enjoyment.

I also turn to roleplays for help. I created my number one OC through a roleplay did on Gaia.

hummy is not a writter but maybe you can
re-read what you have written and write whatever comes to mind.
even if it isn't perfect it may get you going again?
good luck with your writer's block.

I hate writer's block! I get it a lot when I get stressed, I noticed. My thoughts just do not flow freely enough to make me want to write anything of any value. Sometimes I just sit and write without thinking about it and don't bother to correct anything, just keep writing even if it does not make sense. That seems to get all the extra junk out and helps me get rid of writer's block.
