What an absolutely beautiful country. I can't wait for May when I will be overcome with more shades of green than I have ever seen in my life. I'm still not sure how I feel about this take on chili, however. It's unnatural and therefore untrustworthy...

In Texas we typically have chili with tortillas and a little cheese or just by itself as a kind of hearty stew.

You've gotta bear in mind that for the average Brit, tortilla means Dorito and the staple carb is bread. So while tortillas are used for wraps and so on, eating them with a meal isn't something people generally even think of doing, I suspect. British meal carbs are spuds, pasta or rice

Eating chili with rice is "traditional", or habit if you like, and it's hard to get a human to do something differently. I like chili with rice (though brown rice for me, white is too bland), though I also like it with wedges. I eat it with tortillas sometimes, though that tends to be when I'm using it up, so it's been sat in the fridge and firmed up, and I make what is probably a burrito with it?

I like chilli and pasta (but that's pretty similar to spag bol) and sometimes I have it with chips but it's usually rice we have it with. We only have wraps if we're having fajitas

I'm excited about the chance of snow but I'm definitely looking forward to the Spring. I was already impressed by how green everything was in late Summer, I just can't imagine what it's going to be come May! As for right now, however, it's flooding around here (the second time it's flooded since I arrived in England) and I'm somewhere between empathetic because it's hurting the local businesses and in a state of utter glee because I just went through a year (basically) without rain thanks to last year's freak drought.

Vinyl: Oh my gosh, fajitas... I'm not a fan of chili over pasta, but I think that's because I like to add a lot of pinto beans to the chili and it gets to be too many carbs on one plate for my taste.

The air in Spring is lovely. It's probably the same as in late summer, but when you've had the whole summer with it being warm you don't notice it. But after winter, when you get those first days where it's warm and the air is sweet and fresh, it's like coming alive.

Not really. Pinto beans are brown with spots, and kidney beans are kind of reddish. Pinto beans taste a bit earthier-- they're what they use for refried beans, if you've had mexican food. Kidney beans have a little bit thinner taste to them-- they're great as a base for a dish because they pick up flavors easily.

And since I'm on the thread, I'm in Georgia. About as far north and east as you can be without being in the Carolinas.

Ah I see. I pick out my beans either way, so I was just curious. I only really like baked beans and even then I have to be in a specific mood for them because the texture is odd. xD
