I have 2 friends. One is across the country and one is working and going to college. That's why.

Hmm... I differ from you, Poet, in that I don't really want to talk to people I know in real life online, except for a few select exceptions. I come onto the internet to escape real life, get my brief respite. I don't like mixing up the two worlds.

I'm very socially awkward... so it's more a matter of being unable to make the friends to want to avoid them.

I guess I would fall into a third category. Being an ambivert, I am lucky to be both willing and able to communicate with anyone (friends, colleagues, boss...), whether over Facebook chat, text messaging, or talking on the phone. Well, maybe not with total strangers, but I think you get the gist of what I'm saying.

At least, that's what I'm like now. I wasn't always like this.

Anyway, enough about me.

Although we (most likely) do not know each other in real life, @The Wandering Poet, I am glad to be able to talk with you here on Menewsha.

We most certainly wouldn't. It's rare to find people I know who live in my part of Washington.

Ah, well I'm not in Washington so that's an even lower likelihood of ever meeting you in real life.

That's how things are. Even the closest Menewshan I know decently well is much too far.

I've been nearby, though. On vacations. So there's still a possibility of meeting people outside your state, which makes me wonder -- have there been any real-life Mene meet-ups?

There have been a few when conventions are done but I think those are far and few between.

Maybe but I rarely leave my room except for work. Going to Florida for vacation but i'll be far too busy to meet up with people. Will be hanging out with my best friend ever... who I tried and failed to drag onto Menewsha...

Actually, Dandelioness and I are best friends in real life. But I changed schools and don't get to visit often (curses to the guy who invented homework) so we chat on here. Yay!

That's cool! Did you know each other before Menewsha, or did you meet online and figure out that you lived near each other?

We were in the same school for 7 years and then we came to 11th grade and Kira-chan had to go off to some other junior college while I continued in the same school. We kept in touch through Kofk for a while but when I realized I was only going on that site to talk to her and that the only reason she was so addicted was because she hadn't experienced many other avatar forums or been part of many online communities, I tried to haul her here. Didn't work for some time, but then she came over to my house on my birthday and I showed her some of the awesome conversations that take place here. Mene has the best community I've come across, and I am one who has tried every avatar forum in existence [yes]

Aww that's great! I am glad to hear that you two are able to keep in contact with each other through Menewsha, and that you found a community within which you would be comfortable maintaining your friendship. ^_^
